An accident has just occurred on the 3rd Mainland Bridge, Lagos. The incident involving a Lagos BRT bus and a Salon car occupied by three ladies and driven by one of them, was said to have occured due to excessive speeding.

An eye witness at the scene of the accident claimed the ladies were over speeding and driving erratically which must have been due to alcohol intoxication. The driver reportedly swerved to the lane of the BRT bus, which caused the bus to clip its shoulder and hence resulting in the car sumersaulting three times.

Though no one was reported dead, but the ladies were seriously injured and have been rushed to the hospital.

Fatality means loss of life. If no life was lost, how can this accident be described as fatal?

Just another example of Nigeria's bad reportage.

We know the context in which the word "fatal" was used here, it had nothing to do with the destruction of the vehicles. The report is also riddled with other errors, if you weren't too keen to defend these obvious errors, you would leave your dictionary well and truly alone.

You state the vehicle was occupied by 3 ladies, and driven by 1 of them. If it was occupied by 3 individuals, doesn't it stand to reason, 1 of them would obviously be driving the car?

Really? How did this eye witness, or anyone else at the scene conclude this RTA was due to alcohol intoxication? Were the victims, the driver of the sedan in particular breathalyzed? This seems to be an automatic conclusion in Nigerian-reported RTA's.

Junk journalism at its finest.

You are still in the 19th century if u think journalists alone are now in the profession of news reportage. FYI, Media houses now get their clues and stories from eye witness reporters .

I am sure you have other issues to get yourself concerned about.

And you are still in the Stone Age if you decide to publish what eye witnesses tell you with regards to the driver of this car in question being intoxicated by alcohol. Did you ask yourself how they worked that out? You simply deputed it as fact.

A good reporter, professional or otherwise learns to query their sources before printing. If I told you Obasanjo was a raving homoséxual, you would simply accept it without question, huh?

How about the other blunders you made - did the eye witnesses do your write-up on Nairaland as well?

Bad reportage, even worse piecing together of what you've posted.
