Fellani was far more useful than Rooney today and i don't know how you always manage to praise this guy who shouldn't even be in United currently. Rooney is the highest paid player in the PL FFS. Players who get paid that much should have performances that correlate with the figure.

Rooney that can't even displace a rookie in Rashford for the CF position and whose uselessness is now being accommodated in midfield and you're defending him? Do we pay him 300k every week to spray diagonal passes down the wing to Valencia?

I watched today's match in a large hotel hall. People said Rooney and Martial were our best players. Some non Man United fans.

Meanwhile Southampton 2 City 0

Then why did LVG make just 2 midfield signings? Whose fault is it? Regardless Bastian was average when he played.
Bastian was quite decent at the start, he and Morgan were forming a good partnership before an injury struck!
It's no coincidence that he featured in majority of our win in the first half of the season and the team collapsed as soon as he was injured.

I doubt that. There was need not to be over ambitious from midfield. Carrick and Rooney always ensured they played behind the ball. They also changed the direction of play from side to side in a admirable way. Fellaini who was in the number 10 and Lingard in the right wing were the disconection in our passing.
You sabi ball. A lotta niggas here criticise wrongly. Many don't know football so well.

Did you see him waste shooting chances with timid shots? He can't even shoot to save his life The only thing Rooney did good today was spreading passes from wing to wing, and it's not enough. Watch what Silva does and compare it with what Rooney did today. Even Kante was pushing attack more than Rooney from a DM position.

That one shooting decision couldn't make one have a bad game. He did things right 95%.

I'd gladly give out my lungs to get a gaffer that can bench Rooney. Rooney at the attack - useless!! Rooney in the MF - uber useless!! What's this dude even good at? angry
He wasn't that bad. LvG needs the pace to counter Leicester breakout but what he didn't know is that we also needed smart passing to get beyond their deep line of defence. Mostly what we did was lay our eggs on wing play which yielded very little.

Carrick-Rooney-Herrera or Schneiderlin-Fellaini-Herrera would have been a more robust combo.

Did you watch the match or not? or you listened to the commentary from these folks? are these the same people that stated Rooney was better than Fellani today?

Too many mediocres in the side. Add to the stark lunatic on the bench with his Olympic 60 leaves jotter.

Rooney was average at best.

Didn't pose any threat on the ball. Two free kicks straight against the wall. Even those cross field diagonal balls are becoming stale.

Who says this guy is anywhere near a decent #10?

God bless you for this. It's the embolden that would have unlocked Leceister's defense. Since our MFers lacked it, they resulted in feeding Rojo with passes only for the fool to send parabolic-esque crosses with zero velocity into Leceister's 18-yard and as always, Huth and Morgan were waiting to head out the timid crosses. It's very frustrating to watch.

They should give anything to get that Kante. I wouldn't mind Mane for Depay since it's like Koeman is interested in him

What irritated me most was the attempted chip by Rooney instead of shooting. Rooney has tried that shi.t so many times and it has never come off for him he had the guts to do it again in this must win match.

END OF DISCUSSION!! Being a MFer is much more than spreading horizontal passes to the wings through out the match.

honestly if you guys keep judging Rooney from that his contract angle you will never see anything good in his game.
ignore the salary (it was a bad contract from the begin) he had a good game certainly cant see anybody on our bench doing better.

Was it his duty to unlock the defence? Fellaini played ahead of him behind the striker. Rooney sat deep with Carrick as the box to box midfield. Sometimes Carrick played ahead of Rooney.

Mehn!! You are so on point. I thought I was the only one that had noticed that. Rooney has been trying this nonsense for almost 5 seasons and it has NEVER WORKED. Next season, White Pele will try it again and it will not work. Gosh!! Rooney of yore had terrific shot but now, he's more of "chipping" shots than actually hitting it hard. I blame David James of Porthsmouth for allowing Rooney get away with that chipping madness many seasons ago. Ever since Rooney scored that chipping shot past him, he's been obsessed with it ever since.

Rooney didn't play number 10. That's where you people are getting it wrong. Fellaini was our attacking midfielder while Rooney was the central midfielder. Rooney played in deep role as he did in last two games for us.

Only Carrick sat in the midfield with Rooney and Fellaini infront of him as box-box midfielders!
It was a 3-man midfield sort of.

Well those folks on our bench don't get paid as high as him so it's very difficult to ignore. This is what happens when you try to build your team around an average player like Rooney. That's why he gets moved so often from one position to another without anyone to permanently place him on the bench and he's the captain FFS. Mediocrity everywhere!

Wayne Rooney shines again in midfield as Wes Morgan bags vital equaliser
DAVID DE GEA 6.5 – Angrily slammed the tunnel at half-time, perhaps in annoyance at conceding, but did little wrong
.

ANTONIO VALENCIA 6.5 – Did superbly for the opening goal and regularly overlapped but failed to maximise his chances.

CHRIS SMALLING 6.5 – Hit the post with an excellent header that had Schmeichel scrambling and mixed it physically.

DALEY BLIND 6 – Decent set piece deliveries but positionally suspect at times in the second half.

MARCUS ROJO 5 – Left Morgan alone for equaliser and could have conceded a penalty when bringing down Mahrez but got forward well.

MICHAEL CARRICK 7 – Produced a rare enforcer type display with well-timed tackles and his usual early balls forward.

WAYNE ROONEY 7.5 – Good again in his deep midfield role, picking passes through Leicester's line.

JESSE LINGARD 5 – Enjoyed plenty of the ball and brought the best from Schmeichel but wasted possession too often and should have done better when clean through.

MAROUANE FELLAINI 5 – Very lucky his elbow on Huth went unnoticed but Premier League season likely to be over if FA take retrospective action.
ANTHONY MARTIAL 7.5 – Took his goal extremely well and was sharp throughout, linking play and taking on his man repeatedly.

MARCUS RASHFORD 6 – Missing the dynamism that has been such a feature of his amazing entrance to first-team football.

The times he pushed forward, what did he do with the chances he'd have created? And this is the testament to the fact that LvG is uber dumb for playing Rooney in a deep box-to-box MF with Carrick, and an indictment on Rooney that he's jack of all trades and master of none. A good coach will never trust his MF in the hands of Rooney in a title-deciding match like this.

No sir.

Rodney's play today would suggest he had more of the ball. How can Fellaini be a #10 when he had far less touches?
