If this administration wanted to arrest GEJ, there's more than enough evidence already to pick him up.

It's obvious to even the blind that there's some level of amnesty granted to GEJ and Dame Patience. Possibly even Sambo.

Everyone else is fair game.

Let this crook face the consequences of his action. Imagine collecting millions of dollars and claiming it was to supply 'tactical communication devices'. LMAO.

The accusation if Efcc trying to enforce him to implicate Jonathan is all a ruse. it's been clear for sometime now that for some cogent reason, this Administration does not intends not to arrest or embarrass Jonathan. There is already enough link or evidence to invite Jonathan if they wanted to. Dasuki has said to anyone who cares to listen, everything he did, he did on instructions of the President.

So I think Azibaola coached by his fake activist lawyer, Adegboruwa, is only trying to be clever by half.
As clever as U are.which comes first in a case bounding corruption? Investigate gather evidence then arrest and charged to court? Or arrest investigate gather evidence and then charge to court? Which??

I am trying to make sense of this;..."stop EFCC from making me implicate Jonathan". If you think about it for 30 seconds, it looks like a security operation to protect someone after he has already implicated the guy.
How does a judge rule in this case?. A favorable Judgement would read.." the FG is hereby restrained from making the cousin of Jonathan implicate Jonathan". Very clueless. Either the lawyer is scamming his rich client our the EFCC is setting a trap

DONSMITH123:
The detained cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Robert Azibaola, has urged a Federal High Court in Lagos to declare as unlawful any attempt by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to make him indict the ex-President.

In a fresh suit filed on Wednesday, Azibaola’s lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, claimed that any attempt to make his client indict the ex-President was a violation of Section 7 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, “which has outlawed the practice of arresting a citizen as ransom for the alleged offence of another citizen.”

Azibaola, who claimed to have been in the EFCC’s detention since March 23, is also, through Adegboruwa, urging the court to bar the EFCC from approaching any magistrate’s court to obtain any remand warrant extending his detention in the anti-graft agency’s facility.

The EFCC had reportedly detained Azibaola on the allegation that he diverted $40m through a company, One-Plus Holdings, which was awarded the contract of pipeline surveillance.

The EFCC had transferred him from Abuja to Lagos where it on April 22 obtained a warrant from a Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja to remand him pending conclusion of investigation into his alleged crime.
But in the new fundamental rights enforcement action filed on Azibaola’s behalf on Wednesday, Adegboruwa contended that the EFCC could not rely on sections 293 and 294 of the ACJA to continue to detain his client.

He claimed that those sections of the law were designed for criminal offences such as murder, armed robbery, kidnapping and treasonable felony, which attract capital punishment for which the police would need time to await a legal advice from the office of the Attorney-General.

First, these alleged criminals should stop playing the "Victim Game", Nigerians are now wiser than before.

Let me explain:
If they force you to "indict the Ex-President", two things can happen:
a) You can deny your evidence in a court room, in front of the Judge, claiming it was obtained under duress
b) Investigation of such evidence, would show that it is not tenable, just "cooked-up"

On the other hand, I want the court and all Nigerians to focus on THE SUBSTANCE of the ALLEGATION, irrespective of whether Jonathan is involved or not. Again, let me explain

a) Was $40Million paid to the named company? Forty Million Dollars, for God's sake? Wetin angry angry
b) Are you the beneficiary owner of such company?
c) Was "due process" followed in awarding such contract? (e.g, through Public tender?)
d) Are you qualified to discharge the contract for which such humongous amount was paid to your company?
e) Did you discharge the contract, as awarded ..... or just made-off with the money?
f) Depending on the answers and result of investigations into the above questions, are you GUILTY (or Not) under Nigerian law?

These is how trials proceed, not running to the Newspapers and trying to get cheap and inconsequential sympathies from fellow thieves and #Wailers. Or trying to Blackmail the EFCC into "inaction".

As to detention orders and renewal of such orders, let us make it clear that these offences are TREASONOUS and CRIMINAL because they are what have brought the country to its present predicament, with "unsung death" of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians.
The Agency has the right to detain and investigate further, once a "prema-facie case" has been initially established.

Azibaola, who claimed that he is being persecuted based on his blood relation with ex-President Jonathan, also accused the EFCC of having perfected the plan to keep transferring him from state to state in order to keep renewing the remand warrant to ensure that he was perpetually kept in detention.

He urged the court to order the EFCC to immediately charge him to court or release him if it was not ready to do so.

The suit which was filed on Wednesday has yet to be assigned to any judge and no hearing date has been fixed.

Ignorance pervades this Nigeria too much! angry angry

there are cases where the investigating agency needs to arrest first (after establishing a prema-facie case), before further investigation..... if it is shown that the continuing liberty of the accuse might jeopardise the case!

E.g, tampering with evidence, "witness-tapping" or even endangerment of witness by the accused.

Dont comment on issues you have no-idea about. gerrit?

Sir you don't have to implicate your cousin.
There are enough implicating statements from Dasuki, Metu and others already if GEJ is the target.

N40 Million is a lot of money to be wished away by mere weak allegation as this.

JUST RETURN THE MONEY, you don't have implicate GEJ, pls.

Let us put it into mathematics

Buhari is Corrupt: YES or NO ........... equation (1)

Jonathan is Corrupt: YES or NO...........equation (2)

What is the relationship between equation (1) and equation (2)

ANSWER: NONE! .... both are mutually exclusive!
