Yes they do. MSFT has minimum requirements in standards that they give to those that intend to install the WP OS on their hardware. If you can't meet the minimum standard, MSFT will not grant you the licence.

Since the proliferation of Androids, I have used a couple of them like Tecno, Infinix and currently Itel, I can remember i have even tried Blackberry phone. But I am thinking of trying at least a Windows Phone but i don't just know any thing about them. What is so special about Windows phones? Should I go for it and give it a trial or stick with my Itel phone which presently hasn't failed me?

OP 90% of those saying windows phone is bad havent used it.. windows phone has its own advantages over android phones like a stable OS, doesnt lag or hang, longer batter life, saves ur data, good cameras, cant be affected by viruses, have been using the phone last for over 3 years without any problem, u cant say the same thing for android phones.. my lumia 720 since 2013 still works fine.. samsung is still the best android device no matter what anyone says but it has battery issues and its quite expensive.
BTW cortana is the smartest Artificial Intelligence on any device, similar to Siri on Iphone, she does wateva u need her to do from setting reminders to getting ur daily needs.. she absorbs ur whole internet and learn more abt you, lets hope she doesnt go rogue [ .
And when I say windows phone am talking abt d Nokia or now Microsoft device.. not the windows OS on htc and others

Minimum requirement doesn't mean it is better than every medium or high ranged android phone out there. Which of windows phone has a better camera than a galaxy s6? Except those lumias made largely for photography purposes.

Handled a windows phone last weekend, terrible experience. I didn't even understand what was happening at some point. The navigation get as e be.

have u seen d camera on lumia 950?? of course both r awesome but the lumia 950 has a slight egde over s6 even though d samsung has a higher ppi.. and even the s6 still has battery issue like every other samsung phones out there

You just have to mention lumias only, those phones put all their resources into camera. That's why I gave that as an exemption. But still I have checked both cameras (rear and selfie) and the s6 beats it hands down. If you still don't want s6 because of its battery, why not buy xperia m5, c5 ultra, HTC m9, s7, LG g4 .. etc. You will be doing yourself good than buying any windows phone..also not every Samsung phone have battery problem, the Note series beat that.

Like I said, the model of the phone is Nokia Lumia 1520 and so far, here are the cons observed.

1. You have to be careful in handling the phone because cost of repairs is very high.

2. Windows store does not have as many apps as what entails on play store (for android), but all what I required to productively manage my day, I have from windows store.

3. You cannot power it off to charge. If switched off, it powers on automatically when connected for charge. I don't like that, except you put it on airplane mode.

s6 beats it hands down u say??.. i think u need to check reviews and other comparisons online, the S7 might be better but definitely not s6. like i said samsung is still the best android device, maybe HTC next.. I have a s4 i cant risk getting other high end android phone that wont last more than a year.

Mr OP, i beg u in the name of God/Allah/ any diety you dey worship, dont ever imagine or attempt to buy a windows phone, that is the worst mistake i made since i started using phones, sometimes i wish i can sue the company cos the only apps that is free on the windows store is whatapps, the phone doesnt have common voice recorder, you have to use all their apps in trial mode and after that gbam your regret starts...NB(CAVEAT) I REALLY TOOK MY TIME TO ADVICE YOU COS I DON'T WANT YOU TO SUFFER LIKE ME
