However, you can't start counting money when you've not made some. What I mean is this: if I should tell you the required tools, you MAY still find it difficult to come up with a "good" e-commerce website.

However, to build an e-commerce website with Wordpress, you will need the following items:
1. A domain name

2. A hosting package.

3. A premium Wordpress Theme for e-commerce websites.

4. Some Wordpress Plugins.

5. A "secure" payment system.

6. Good security.

7. A good graphics designer/photographer.

Donrockie, it is a good thing you want to monetize your blog. However, my advice in that field may not go a long way to help you.

Most bloggers (especially fellow Nigerians) earn from their blogs through a programme called Google Adsense. You guessed right! The programme is run by Google. But I heard the programme no longer supports PPC (Pay Per Click). They probably support PPV (Pay Per View).

With PPV, your commissions will depend on the number of visitors your blog drives. For example, your commissions may be $20 for every 1000 monthly visits.

For the payment system, I must confess that I have no idea. However, I heard that Voguepay is easy to setup and use.

Your choice will depend on whether you need a stand-alone forum or a forum for your existing website.

W3schools.com has a forum. But that forum is sharing a domain with the "parent" website.

If you want to have a good web hosting experience, I will advice you to consider foreign web hosts. Most readers may say I am biased. But the truth is this: you will risk so many things if you choose to go with most Nigerian web hosts.

Anyone can run a web hosting company? Even you! This has made it difficult for beginners to actually make a good decision.

I will advice you to switch over to Wordpress. It has a large community of developers who are working tirelessly to make it look better and better.

Although there are other solutions, I strongly recommend Buddypress or bbPress. Both are fully supported by Wordpress. You can use them to easily build very good forums.
