Kanu, Mikel, Who’s Greater?

Shortly after Chelsea defeated Benfica to win the Europa League title in Amsterdam, Mikel Obi, joined his teammates to celebrate their European heroics. Although Mikel was an unused substitute, he is an integral part of the team. Since joining Chelsea in 2006, Mikel has racked a number of individual and team medals.

But does that mean he is the most adorned Nigerian footballer? Has he really achieved more than Kanu Nwankwo? Football fans across the country have often argued this and i decided to bring to Nairaland.

Bro he said achieved not better player. In terms of trophy, mikel has more: Ueafa, europ, premier league, Fa cup, carling cup, community shield n a lot of others. In terms of personal award kanu should be better here I think, don't know d full details. These r based on club performances. When it comes to the national team Kanu is a better team player than mikel. My opinion though

Kanu is great and ahead of Mikel but obi Mikel has paid his due as a professional footballer whether average or not.Only Nigerian to ve played and still playing for top club for 10years,I don't want to know may be he is regular or not.Kanu only had a season of regular football at arsenal or may be at Portsmouth in all his football career,I'm stand to be corrected.At Ajax and inter was a bench warmer and even at arsenal but he had some glorious matches(arsenal vs Chelsea)(Brazil vs Nigeria)and this made a player but Mikel is lacking this attributes.I still remeber Kanu of not having an afcon goal despite appearing 5 times as a striker.Even not too successful for Nigeria at world cup despite appearing 3 times.Kanu only success at national team was with under age u17 and u 23.He won African footballer of year twice due to his performance at arsenal especially match against Chelsea and Atlanta 96 with his magic wand against Brazil.But as a super eagle player he was not a success.So comparing the two is a plus to Mikel bcs he w be very happy being compared to King Kanu.Comparing Kanu and Mikel is not comparing death and sleep bcs when it comes Laurels they are at par except for individual brilliance of Kanu.

Kanu did not win cup of nations,Mikel did.
He did win Olympic gold,which Mikel,never did.
In terms of Trophy won at club side,they are on par.
Individual awards,Kanu has d upper hand.
Who remember the king crown wore on Kanu when Pompey last won the FA cup?With is superb strike?
FIFA recognition, KANU has d better nod.

and your rating is important how? if you have respect on your legends, assuming you know what legend means, you won't be comparing the two. not to mention that to win a trophy is different from being in a team that won a trophy. I've said all I will on this stupid thread
