EFCC Operatives Leave Fani-kayode’s Home by horizonhotspot(m): 9:03pm On May 06, 2016
Gun-wielding operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who earlier stormed the No 5, Zuma Close, off Aso Drive, Abuja home of former spokesperson of Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential Campaign Organization and erstwhile Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, have left the place.

An eye-witness who visited the scene of the siege but pleaded anonymity, said, the operatives of the anti-graft agency decided to leave when hordes of pressmen began to storm Fani-Kayode’s residence.

The ex-Minister had earlier cried out today that officials of the EFCC had surrounded his house in a text message he sent to several media organisations. Recall that the EFCC, earlier, sent a letter to Fani-Kayode’s residence, demanding his presence in their Abuja office by 10.00am on Monday, May 9, 2016, to explain his role in the presidential campaign funds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 presidential elections.

The letter was signed by Mr. Mohammed Umar Abba on behalf of the EFCC acting chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

It was gathered that Fani-Kayode, in a letter through his lawyer, had assured the anti-graft agency that he would duly honour the invitation, even as he had several times insisted that he was not hiding from the EFCC.

Why the haste to arrest him when he was asked to report in their office on Monday? I guess they couldn't wait till Monday to begin their harassment. Thank God for the vigilance of the press, he would probably have been dragged out of his house if not for their presence. It is so disheartening that the man who heads the anti-corruption agency is a trained lawyer, yet he allows his men to flagrantly abuse the law. Sagay and the other "CHANGE" lawyers will still put up a defense for this brazen display of unguarded power.

This is not a defense of corruption but the defense of human rights. Do you know how traumatic the experience would have been for his young family? There is nothing wrong in people being asked to account for their actions but the way this government has been going about it has a tinge of persecution. As regards the 11 billion, he has been tried and it resulted in an acquittal.

You are just trying to shoot your own foot. You can never reopen that because if you do, that man in Ota will be fully involved.

Buhari stop harassing innocent Nigerians in the name of fighting corruption. Fani Kayode was invited by EFCC and he acknowledged the letter through his lawyer and has agreed to honor the invitation, why the intimidation?

EFCC officials left his home.

FFK will still report to EFCC Abuja office by 10.00am on Monday, May 9, 2016, to explain his role in the presidential campaign funds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 presidential elections.

Wailers, this is a bad news for FFK

you've invited him, why not wait to hear his response. No, they just stormed his residence to intimidate him because they have the support of the powers that be!

That's our own style of democracy!
