[b]The Nigerian Communications Commission report for the first quarter of 2016 indicated that Globacom has strengthened its position as Nigeria’s preferred network for new data subscribers.

In the report covering the first three months of the year just released by NCC, Globacom recorded an additional 1,448,354 new internet subscribers on its network during the period. The figure is made up of 354,178 for January, 248,593 for February and 845,583 for the month of March. Globacom’s total internet customers as at the end of the quarter stood at 26,530,420.

The company’s figure of 1,448,354 for the three months under review represents 80% of the total number of 1,820,651 new customers who subscribed to internet services of the four major telecom operators in the first quarter of this year.

Airtel recorded 319,229 new data subscribers for the three months, while Etisalat had an addition of 53,068 new internet users on the network during the period. The combined figure for the two companies makes up the remaining 20% of the total figure of 1,820,651 new internet subscribers for the quarter.

On the other hand, MTN which began the quarter with 39,924,737 data customers ended it with 33,356,595. This indicates a massive loss of over 6.5million internet subscribers in just three months.

How would Glo not get 80% customers when they've a Near-Sensible subscription unlike MTN that scrapped all their plans and gave us GutterSubs.


I'm most disappointed with Etisalat...when they got into the market introducing 'MB' I was like Etisalat would lead the way for Internet Things but I was wrong.

One useless Eti customer care rep, after telling that I use Instagram on a daiy basis she still went ahead to recommend 50mb for 500naira.

For the fact we wanna sound patriotic doesn't mean we have to lie. Glo is a stuuupid network.

Browsing is so slow from where i am based. MTN is way faster but well, less reliable. Reason being server overload.
MTN and Glo employs almost the same amount of Nigerians, they both pay taxes. They support our youths (endorsement)... so why should anyone even keep givin a phuck if one is of South African origin or of Nigerian origin ?

Enough of the hate. GLO should upgrade.

Glo na company wey get sense. While airtel go stupidly offer you 2gb blackberry data for 1500 and end up giving u a paltry 300mb and MTN and Etisalat will never even have none of that, Glo knows people are using their bb sub on Android for 3gb at 1400 yet them no block am. Can someone tell me why dem no go get customers?

I made Glo my number network last year,
They have been the best in traffic

Most android customers use tweak BB plan while I enjoyed their Internet plan of 3k to 6gb.

But this one MTN release new plan, I trust Glo, they will reviews their immediately

i still wont assume that this rise came due to there flexible plans for android phones,without accurate breakdown/further analysis of the above figures.

Probably it could be due to the disconnection of sim cards by MTN that led to there huge loss.

Competition is good for consumers ... Not business. see they way MTN magically introduced new data plans. We use to get 3GB at one point in this country when naira still had value for 10,000 naira and 8,000. MTN raped us in this country.

I'm so faithful I ve been sticking with my Mtn till now....infact I even got a new Mtn sim cus I knw one day they will get better...alas I was right to patiently wait n believe dat good times will come for Mtn users...now I'm rocking my 1.5 g for 1k...on d same Mtn network...who say patience doesn't pay??

This is what happens when ISP's take customers threats for granted. I'm sure if the month of April is compiled, Airtel will have gained even more subscribers cuz of the time based unlimited bundles, now they've grown big, they think they can just increase their tariff costs and still keep their subscribers.
Mtn, I guess have learnt their lessons with the revision of their data packs, Airtel will go down, they've no good thing to offer, Glo will rock even more, cuz they know just what the Nigerian masses need

Glo had been Xenopobically defeating eMpTyheN since 2015 AD.

So mtn saw the report and decided to review their data, lucky for them if not before 2016 ends they wouldn't have seen who to sub to their network again
