Buhari Moves To Remove Fuel Subsidy, Begins Consultation With NASS by VillageParrot: 8:46pm On May 07, 2016 |
Barring any last minute changes, President Muhammadu Buhari will within the next few days officially announce the removal of subsidies in prices of petroleum products, SIGNAL can authoritatively report. Presidency sources informed about the development told SIGNAL on Saturday that President Buhari has already started consultation with the leadership of the National Assembly and key Labour leaders before the official announcement. According to the source, “President Buhari has come to terms with the economic challenges associated with government subsidy for petroleum products. The current economic situation of the country, has made it even more imperative to remove subsidy, because it is not sustainable.” It will be recalled that in July 2015, President Buhari dismissed calls for his government to remove fuel subsidy. According to him, “I have received many literature on the need to remove subsidies, but much of it has no depth”. http://www.signalng.com/flash-buhari-moves-remove-fuel-subsidy-begins-consultation-nass/ 3 Likes 1 Share |

You can't remove fuel subsidy while importing refined fuel. Fix the refineries first. The cost of purchase of PMS we import per litre plus shipping before adding other over 15 other charges is N78/litre. Meaning, if we are refining our fuel by ourselves at present average of $45/barrel of crude, far less than N86/litre is doable in-lieu of the present roughly N98/litre total (of which the goverment pays subsidy). And with a stronger Naira that working refineries could breeed, (say N160 to a $) pump prices less than N55/litre is quite doable without subsidy @ $45/barrel of crude. 46 Likes 2 Shares |

Amazing.. NNPC would be the preferred destination. Wait and see what's gonna happen to the rest. The price would remain at N86.50/litre at NNPC after the removal. Wait and see 4 Likes |

This is not a good move, especially this period we are experiencing economic meltdown. The price of goods will increase by 100 % if this is implemented. 12 Likes 1 Share |

But when the previous administration removed subsidy they criticized him to stupor. They think governing Nigeria is as easy as chewing gworo. Meanwhile, it baffles me how illegal refinaries can be operated in Nigeria and not a single legal one has been established by any past or present administration. 85 Likes 5 Shares |

989900: GBAM! You nailed it, nothing more to add. Subsidy payment is no the problem, for now. Corruption of using subsidy to loot our wealth is the main issue. People just "round-trip" and come around to claim subsidy! Lastpage! 8 Likes 1 Share |

Is this government still paying subsidy? I thought Buhari said there was nothing like subsidy. Subsidy was simple fraud In his Aboki voice he once asked "Who is subsidising who" My major problem with this Buhari is not about his illiteracy but lack of common wisdom. He is just a toy certain set of people play around with. One set tells him subsidy does not exist today he believes and runs his mouth. Tommorrow another set tells him exist and tells him to remove it, he accepts and the next day back to the media. Just counting down on the expiration date of this cursed government. 10 Likes |

The problem buhari he's having is that the system has been in existence for a long time and it will be very hard to kill the corruption he intend stopping, the unfortunate part is that , it is we the masses that will be left with hardship, the solution is keep the refineries working and secured not the subsidy. The less he fights the less problem Nigeria will be facing , Thank God I got fuel @ normal price today. Happy sunday sir. lastpage: 1 Like |
