Hey guys,

I just got to know about hostnownow.com and thought I should share it everyone. They are very affordable and also quick to respond to issues.

Good to have another reliable hosting company in Nigeria.

@ ceejay80s. Thanks for this nice information you are sharing. Pls for a 24v 200amps what kind of zenith UPS should i go for. And is it possible to connect a solar panel to it. If so how do i go about it. To automatic charge the batteries for those that hardly see nepa light. Thanks

i have finally a done a full upgrade. i now av a
3000watts 24v pure sine wave inverter
2pcs 200amps battery
30A EPsolar tracer A series MPPT solar charge controller
2pcs 200watts mono solar panel
my 30A PWM solar charger controller and 30amps battery charger is up for sale, cos my new inverter av 70A fast charger.

Congrats bro, no be small upgrade ooo.

kindly give a review of ur EPsolar tracer A mppt and comparism with pmw.

I guess 70A for 2 200AH batteries is a bit high, would advice you adjust d charging rate if possible or use solar for charging pending u add more batteries.

Cheers

Did you say your battery is 24v 200amps? Most inverter batteries in the market only come in 12v (12 volts).

You would connect a solar panel to a charge controller (it is like a battery charger but instead of plugging it to nepa, you connect to solar panel).

Then you connect the charge controller to your battery... your UPS or Inverter would be connected to your battery to give you 220volts electricity that you can use for TV, laptop, fan etc.

yeah, the inverter actually have a 75amps adjustable smart charger. but i left it at just 25amps for now. i just set up everything yesterday, reviews will come later. the inverter can be wall mounted and is very intelligent. very programable.

Awesome Valto, I see u're fully set to go off the grid. Nice choice of equipments too, the inverter, batteries and charge controllers are top notch; like I would always say " if you can afford it then go for the ones that can take u all the way " once again good job.

not planning to go off grid with just 400watts panel and 2 batteries. but i decided to go for a very good inverter once and for all so there wouldn't be any need to change it after few years. all i need is to add more panels and batteries later.

This is quite nice. I wish there was a silver bullet to having to buy batteries every two years. This is the way to go.

I see people mentioning Charge controller and then Battery charger....

What is the difference?

I assumed there was just an MPPT/PWM "something"(controller, charger??) with a rated amps connected in between the solar panel and battery.

Can anyone pls explain the difference if any, and how theyre connected.

Thanks!

GOOD DAY. I HAVE BEEN GOING TROUGH THIS TREAD FPR A WHILE AND I LEARN ALOT FROM IT. I REALLY NEED TO QUIT GENERATOR IN MY LIFE IF POSSIBLE PHCN. BUT WANT TO HAVE A FIRST HAND INFOR ON SOLAR ELECTRICITY. IAM TINKING OF GOING FOR AN INVERTER, BUT SOME ONE WAS ADVISING ME FOR MTN SOLAR ELECT WHICH I WILL BE PAYING AS LOW AS 110 NAIRA EVERY DAY. PLEASE GUYS WAT IS UR ADVICE. I UST WANT TO POWER MY STANDING FAN WHICH IS DC MY LED TV AND A DECODER. THANXS

@ rajo4real , pls what is the best and most efficient way to configure 2pcs of 200watts panel on an mppt controller? Should it be in parallel or in series?

Im2Busy2Bother:

With MPPT you ran as high of a voltage as you can. Every MPPT charge controller will tell you the most efficient voltage to run at a specific battery voltage. Example the Midnight Solar Classic 150 operating into a 12 volt battery is a Vmp of 90 volts. Look for yourself>>>>>
http://www.midnitesolar.com/pdfs/classicPowerChart.pdf
< < <<<<<<<

Now as you go up in battery voltage Vmp and battery voltage get closer, but for Midnite Solar 90 volts is optimum voltage for all battery voltages up to 48 volts.

Solar charge controller is a control to regulate the solar (sun energy) coming from the solar panels.

The charger is either inbuilt or separate. You connect both to the battery that is being charged

That question can only be answered by you. Do you have enough capital to invest in running your solar project?

If you do then go ahead.

Once you go solar you can't go back to generator. That's a sure bet. Nothing beats going home after the day's hustle very sure you've got electricity waiting at home.

If you are asking if it's a worthwhile project, then my answer is it is.

See ya @ the top bro
