Why do Nigerian women think that the fake hair they spent time and money on, makes them beautiful, sexy or romantic?

Why do Nigerian men, think that the fake hair on their women make them beautiful?

Anytime I see a Nigerian woman with that Pack of Forest on their hair, I feel angry and sorry for them.

The thing doesn't make them beautiful

Why can't they just wash it, oil it, clean it, perm it, and just hang it loose. The more natural it look the healtheir and more beautiful

this is suppose to be in fashion, now to your question, there are black women who wear weaves due to hair diseases, some black woman wear weaves because it's easier to deal with or more suitable for their occupation/profession, finally there are black women who wear weaves to add length to their hair. There are numerous reasons, probably more then I mentioned, but the bottom line is that weave-wearing CAN not and should not boil down to wanting to look like a white woman.

I'm not here trying to be self righteous or to belittle anyone for their express verbally or with the hair. That's their business. I just want to know why everyone is in an uproar over this forum? It seems silly to me to fuss over who's wearing weaves, who isn't wearing it good, who should or shouldn't relaxe their hair and so on. Hell maybe I'm wrong. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt

I will disagree with your suggestions for the reasons why black women wear weaves on their head.

First of all there is no hair desease that cannot be cured untill you weave your hair with some extra forest on the head. I will even go further to say that, the unnatural hair attachement will most likely aggravate the disease.

This is not even an acceptable logic


Profession? How can a ladies profession dictates what she wears? I remember back in the 80s and early 90s, when this hair attachement was not common, what happened to women profession? Are u telling me that they were unemployable? Or are telling me that there is a job in this world that a black woman need hair attachement to look professional? Professional black women do not have time for this mentality

That is not their business. That is our business. They are not doing it for themselves but for the society to see them look good. We are not talking about who is wearing it good or bad? The whole attachment mentality is crazy
Do you know the amount of time and resources wasted by our ladies on this so-called mordern fashion? For Godsake they dont have to put that thing on their head to look beautiful.

why not become a lady and find out what makes us wear weavon?

Pressure ke? Not every woman is into ''I-must-do''.

I dont think the average Nigerian girl/woman wears a weave any more often than any other Black woman in the west, or even white for that matter.

However, many (along with the Congolese), dont wear what flatters them. Even the course "afro imitation" ones are worn in a way which makes them look like herman munster. the makeup is also often horrible, although I see it mainly in older Nigerian women to be honest.

Many older Nigerian women, really dont take care of themselves as they should, they just slap on the makeup (too much and altogether wrong shade) and put on a hideos weave/wig and off they go with their mismatched clothes.

When we get it right, we really are beautiful, but I have noticed that frequently people get it very wrong. Its not really the young ones too much (university age etc), its those married women who just give up on themselves. I have also noticed how bad their skin often is, so many spots and marks.

Is it down to diet? Or not enough water intake?
Dont get me wrong, I have my off periods where I know I just dont care as ,uch as I used to, but damn, I dont pay someone to make me look like an eyesore

as per Michelle Obama- I'd be hard pressed to believe there's no extensions/weave ons in that hair. Having short hair doesnt automatically mean natural, sorry.

Besides, is that her natural hair texture? No.

whenever i went to an event/party whatever at my university, the 9ja ladies had mountains of weave. it didn't suit them well at allllll. the AA girls also had weave but it wasn't so ridiculous. and most of the AA girls had wore their OWN permed hair. they just let it hang. it's not too common to find 9ja girls @ american universities with their own hair (permed, natural, etc.)

These days, Caucasians wear weaves and extensions even more than us Afro chicks. That doesn't make it right, though. Even in moderation, fake hair is not a good thing. I love the afro/au natural look and would rock it if I could. Alas, it's a different story.

our male counterparts definitely loveee the weave and wigs no matter what they say about hating it. lol (tsiya ur one of the few exception to the rule, i'm srry) of course they prefer if ur hair is naturally extra long and silky straight like beyonces but if it's not, they'd rather u wear the weave.
it's like this: they prefer naturally straight, long hair to weave. yes. but they prefer the weave to the naturally kinky hair most black ladies have.

so yea you shouldn't address the female folks only. because most blacks in general (male and female) have that "unbeweaveable" mentality.
