Let us be informed that Agbami Oil field is not Lagos.

Logistics (chopper flights/crew movement) is from Lagos, yes. Heavy machinery/marine logistics is from Onne, in Rivers State.

But the field is not Lagos. As a matter of fact, there is a strong debate about moving logistics to either Port Harcourt or Escravos to reduce the almost 2 hours chopper flight time from Lagos.

I beg where the field come dey gangan? I wan know.

Look at these ones dragging oil field locations as if one naira from those fields have ever entered their pocket. BTW Agbami has never been offshore Lagos except Lagos has changed position on the Nigerian Map.

Tell me something is Oil as a commodity originate from the Niger Delta. My friend oil can be discovered anywhere. The commodity is losing value by the day as it is been discovered. Ghana too just started production abt 7 years back. Petroleum is found by decay of dead plants and animals over a long period of time. If on sea there are reservoir rocks deep sea levels that contain petroleum so u can see its a God given Natural resoures and not exclusive to SS states only.

Well said...since all regions now have oil, can we now divide this country?

ABIA

Oil and Gas Exploration

There are over 100 oil wells and 3 installed flow stations in Abia State. There is also an associated gas plant, Abia/NNPC gas plant.[8] As of 2012, boundary Commission said it returned 42 oil wells from neighbouring Rivers State to Abia.[8] This would have meant Abia being fourth largest oil producing state in the county.[8] Oil giant, Shell, holds most of the licenses for the wells in the State and has concentrated on the estimated 50 wells that are considered high-yield. [7]The State produced 36,000 barrels of crude oil per day; "Imoturu produces 23,000 barrels per day and Isimili flow station produces over 8,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Then four oil wells in Izaku go to Obigo flow station. About 30 oil wells from my village go to Umuri and about eight oil wells from Umurie go to Afam", lamented Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Chairman of Abia State Oil Producing Development Area Commission, ASOPADEC.However, the State has complained of poor funding from its oil revenue federal allocation.

I do not totally agree with you, it is true Abia state has oil reserves, Asa, Ukwa East L.G.A. what is more certain is that the reserves are marginal and does not attract huge investment to carry out the cost intensive development of the fields (detailed exploration, drilling, lithological and fluid evaluation, well completion and production). It is also true that (SPDC) shell, holds the oil mining license, OML on these reserves, they have sold most of their mining rights to marginal (smaller) operators because the fields are not profitable (shell cannot sell an elephant field to anyone). If these fields are so profitable like you have described, there would have been intensive investment in these non existence fields. I am not aware of any Rivers state oil well ceded to Abia state. Please stop misleading the public and stop giving your people false hope.

The east is not a secret enclave na, these figures are there for any averagely smart person to see, besides I studied oil and gas related course, I live Port Harcourt, I work in an oil field service company and I did my national youth service in Abia state (Ukwa East LGA) where the "oil fields" are located. Lastly, I'm not a yoruba boy. If you need a refresher course in oil and gas please come, but the facts should not be distorted.

I just hope the closeness to Benin border will not spark of boundary disputes in the nearest future, oil can make friendly neighboring countries become enemies especially in Africa. I hope the Nigerian authorities will be on top of their game.

All lies....no oil was found in Lagos. It's just a gimmick to make it seem that SW has oil too to continue One Nigeria. Best way to actually tell if SW has oil is regionalism. Every region should have resource control ...they will be exposed! Right now this is difficult to account properly under One Nigeria...because figures are forged by perpetrators of One Nigeria to deceive Nigerians.

Ondo state has been an oil producing state for years.

Ibo land and Yoruba land will never develop so long as its peoples continue to fight over how many oil wells.

Infact, both the Igbos and the Yorubas are underdeveloped because they are not developing industries that produce new and innovative goods and services.

And the same goes for EVERY OTHER TRIBE in this country. Oil discovery does not equal economic strength. Infact....you do not even control the oil price....so the money you make is always under threat of reduction. Rather.....true development comes from using what you have to develop something that is needed.....and that you can earn money from...and better still control the price.

Time we woke up from our oil induced slumber. Oil is a useless commodity. Industries and innovation and science is what will save us.

The oil in Niger Delta is for one Nigeria but the new exploration in Lagos is for Lagos alone. People have started hate and tribal issues because crude oil is found in Lagos. Good for development. I don't really believe that conscience still exists. Am not Deltan, but how do you actually want them to feel, are they fools? Let's stop these feud. Nigeria is one sovereign state and every crude is for one Nigeria.
By law; the oil pumped from Lagos is going straight to Abuja for sharing, and they would get 13% derivation from it.
