Am a student of FUTMINNA 100Lvl mathematics dept, I was formerly in fedPOLYBIDA but left there as soon as I got uni admission.

After my 1st semester exam, i check my result; 5F, 2E and 1D.
I calculated my GP to see 0.7
Am so confused, i was a really intelligent secondary sch, my JAMB was okay, NECO nd WAEC 5A nd 7A's respectively.

My father would be so ashamed of me if i told him.
I messedup in poly nd now messingup in uni.

Am tired, shud i drop out of school?

If i cant secure a 1.5CGPA, I'd be pursued from d uni.

I understand am not reading very hard but i sometimes lack motivation to read!

I just want to graduate and get a comfortable job even if i teach in sec schools, am okay. I need to at least get 2nd class lower.

It's a good thing u know you have a problem. It's now left for you to either solve this problem or leave school 4 d so called braniacs.

You are 18 not no longer a kiddo n it's agonizingly painful to see that someone of ur age has no better ambition other than that which u stated.

I can assure you that if you put aside all frivolity and concentrate on your studies even you will be amazed at how good you'll become again.

I did a part time course n not until my 3rd year did I actually realize my failure n sit up. I never took it seriously until 3rd year n luckily for me I had 3 more years to make amends.

U r still in ur 1st year n u have so much time to correct d wrongs u have acknowledged here. If nothing else motivates you to read, let d efforts of ur parents be a motivating factor in your academics or would u rather have them be disgraced by u?

If you try n notice you have lost it academically, please go out n learn a trade or handwork. Sometimes it sustains better than a certificate.

Two major advice I will give you, change your circle of friends and ask questions(plenty of sorting happen in that school

To solve your problem...

If you stay off campus, pls try and join one of your friend in hostel.

After each class or the whole class for the day, try and go through what you have being thought (spend atleast 2hours with your note after class daily)... Don't forget to always make note while you are in class...

If you stay off campus pls try to make night class your rest room and make one of your course mate your reading mate!

Girl friend at this point is a "NO", don't even let her pay you a visit!

If you can't go for a night class... Make your bed your reading desk and your books your pillow!

Get recharge light or a touch for your light incase u don't have light!

Apply this for 2nd semester and see the difference!!!

I'm sure all these ones that started with 0.8 and graduated with 2.1 studied soil science in school. I know such is not possible in engineering or any other serious course.
