DayDream 1 We can live on love Reality Love will neither pay bills nor cover financial hardship. Research have shown that money to be a leading cause of marital dispute and eventual divorce. An unbalance view about money can lead to spiritual and emotional harm and can erode your relationship with your spouse. Don't wait until marriage to discuss money management. Suggestion: Talk over your future financial arrangement with your spouse now, before you are married. Consider such questions as these: How will our income be budgeted? Will we have a joint or separate bank accounts? Which spouse will be more adept at Keeping financial records and seeing that bills are paid? How much money can one spend on a purchase without consulting the other? Now is the time to start working as a team! DayDream 2 We will be a perfect match as a married couple because we see eye to eye on everything, we never disagree! Reality if you never disagreed, its probably because you have carefully managed to avoid issues that might spark a conflict, but marriage will not afford you that luxury. The fact is, no two imperfect humans are perfectly matched, so a measure of disagreement is inevitable. You need to consider not only how well you disagree but also what happens when you disagree. A strong union is made up of two people who can openly acknowledge a difference and then work to settle the matter maturely and amicably. Suggestion: Reflect on how you have handled conflict with your parents, siblings and co-worker up to this point. Note specific event that have triggered a disagreement, how you responded and what respond might have been better. For Instance, if your impulsive response to conflict has been to storm off to your room and angrily slam the door or Bottle up the anger without responding, write down a better respond, that is, one that will work to resolve the problem rather than further entrench it. if you learn to respond better to conflict you will gain a skill that is crucial to a happy marriage. DayDream 3 Once I get married, all my sexual desires will be satisfied. Reality Being married does not guarantee sex demand. Remember you spouse is a human being who has feelings that mist be considered. Frankly, there would be times your mate simply isn't in the mood for intimacy. Marriage does not give you the right to insist on having your needs fulfilled. The fact is self control is important in both singleness and marriage. Suggestion: Make a careful review of your sexual desires and tendencies, and think about how these might affect your marriage. For instance, are you enslaved to self-focused habit of masturbation? have you had a habit of viewing pornography? do you have a roving eye looking lustfully at members of the opposite sex? Ask yourself, if I have trouble controlling my sexual desires before marriage, how will I be able to do so afterwards. Another matter: Have you be prone to flirt and okay the field, earning a reputation as a play boy/runs girl among those of the opposite sex? if so, how do you plan to curtail that tendency after marriage, when your affection will need to be directed to one person? To be continued. Source: singlessubway 1 Like |

l am worried as a would-be because some private schools have continued to exploit parents by forcing them to buy different uniforms for their children for the week in the name of "Monday, Tuesday. ....Friday Wears". A colleague's son is in a private school in Lagos and just last month, his school had its inter house competition when parents were forced to buy another sportswear. They were told to dispose off the ones they have using at the beginning of this session for Friday wear and continue to wear what we bought for the inter - house sports competition. Of course, all these must come with different shoes for the week. He said, he know how much he has spent buying different shoes for a growing child because he (child) had been purnished several times for wearing the wrong shoe for a 'particular day's wear'. Just last week Friday, I saw a school whose pupils wore customised/branded ankara , as Friday wear. Is this a form of Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR) for schools involved or exploitation ! Please lets share our views. Thanks |

I WANT TO BE A TV A Primary School teacher asked her pupils to write an essay on ”A wish you want from God?" At the end of the day, the teacher collected all the essays given by her pupils. She took them to her house, sat down and started marking. Whilst marking the essays, she sees a strange essay written by one of her pupils. That essay made her very emotional. Her husband came and sat beside her and saw her crying. The husband asked her, "What happened?" "What's making you cry" She answered "Read this. It is one of my pupil's essay." "Oh God, Make me a Television. I want to live like the TV in my house. In my house, the TV is very valuable. All of my family members sit around it. They are very interested in it. When the TV is talking, my parents listen to it very happily. They don’t shout at the TV. They don’t quarrel with the TV. They don’t slap the TV. So I want to become a TV. The TV is the centre of attraction in my house. I want to receive the same special care that the TV receives from my parents. Even when it is not working, the TV has a lot of value. When my dad and mom come home, they immediately sit in front of the TV, switch it on and spend hours watching it. The TV is stealing the time of my dad and my mom. If I become a TV, then they will spend their time with me. While watching the TV, my parents laugh a lot and they smile many times. But I want my parents to laugh and smile with me also. So please God make me a TV. And last but not the least, if I become a TV, surely I can make my parents happy and entertain them. Lord I won't ask you for anything more. I just want to live like a TV. Please turn me into a TV. The husband completed reading the essay. He said "My God, poor kid. He feels lonely. He did not receive enough love and care from his parents. His parents are horrible." The eyes of the primary School teacher filled with tears. She looked at her husband and said, "Our son wrote this essay." What do you think of this piece? Pls reflect our lives and review our relationships with children and spouses May our children never desire to be WhatsApp Phones or TV My thoughts: This is quite saddening. The "smarter" the world gets, the worse our human relations became. This shouldn't be so. God has given us "Time" for a reason; He wants us to allocate activities accordingly. There should be time for everything - Time for work, Time for food, Time for rest, Time for learning ... and MOST IMPORTANTLY, Time for your family. We should make sure we provide adequate QUALITY time for our family. Your children needs you. Your spouse needs you. If you don't have their time, you shouldn't have them. The worse feeling for a child is neglect. If you spend more time with "objects" than your LIVING child so much the child feels lonely and neglected, you have failed as a parent. Raise happy kids so the world can be a better place for all to live in. God bless us all 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello all,I had a rude awakening today from an 11yrs old girl and boy was I shocked.I took her phone and saw text messages from a certain number to hers and I had to ask and when I did, what she told me shocked me more. She said it was a certain "grandpa" number and I questioned further, before I knew, I had to call grandpa and straighten things out.Grandpa's version was the height. He explained how he is the father to a friend of the girl's dad and said he had to stop the girl from calling because she called at odd hours and didn't sound to him like she saw him as a father figure but more as a boyfriend and age mate. I have to add at this point for further clarification that the girl is family and I spoke to her for close to 3 hours but don't know whether to inform her parents or believe God will through my counsel bring a change in her attitude. I heard the word "pornography" from my Uncle's son on Tuesday and he is just 10 and if I say I haven't been bothered then I will be lying to myself and because I know my uncle's kids very well, I quietly asked where did you hear that word and he said the same girl told him. Please parents and educators, kindly help by commenting and helping to add value to the future generation as technology and advancement seems to want to destroy all forms of morals and ideals we Nigerian parents are known and respected for.If you were a parent in this situation, what would you do?your kind comments are welcome.God bless. |
