Don't get it twisted! Schneiderlin is a DM. A defensive box-box DM just as Ramires, Vidal, Khedira etc.
Those kind of players can only complement deep lying playmakers like Pirlo, Alonso, Schweinsteiger and maybe Carrick, who's not a deeplying playmaker but has acted as one to orchestrate play and control the midfield due to our lack of.

The other day Rooney had 100% pass accuracy coming as a a sub. The more you are involved, the tendencies for you to make mistakes get higher.

2012/2013 we were bossed in midfield by Everton, Tottenham, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Madrid.

In some of the return legs of those games, SAF had to protect our midfield by playing Phil Jones there. Phil Jones took out Fellaini in return leg against Everton. We lost to Spurs at Old Trafford, but in Whitehart lane they were lucky to get a draw against us, Jones was used to pad our midfield they couldn’t get going.

Jones went on to play many more games in midfield and having a run there. Even against Stoke City.

Carrick has been tired. We have long concluded that here.

The team weren't playing possession football against Westham though. Infact, the team looked as a sunday league team camping in their half.
Passing the ball around has actually helped the team to avoid threat because it would do us no good if we constantly lost the ball with no one to recover the ball as quick as Kante or no one to take on players in the midfield to stretch play like Kante does.
The fact is teams that are doing well in counter attacking set up like Dortmund, Leicester has good agile players with good ability on the ball as opposed to ours.
Our team on other hand has no quick agile midfielder nor one with good ability on the ball.

That was the season Rio Ferdinand also was included in PFA team of the season. . The season RVP and Rooney were heading away balls from our goal line. We played very close to our goalkeeper than ever before and heavily protected our midfield and defence with Jones and even forward players.

When Alonso was at Madrid, His task was to mark Messi runs while Khedira was tasked with marking Xavi and Iniesta. Ozil was tasked with Busquets.
