Congrats to all the new mums, we give thanks to God for His Mercies. Had quite a day today. left Delaware today via train to Washington after booking appointments online at both the US passport office (there's none in Delaware) and the Nigerian consulate. Had posted my $77 money order to the address requested as instructed on the Nigerian immigration site and printed out my acknowledgement receipt a week ago and had been firing prayers for God's grace on the sojourn. So me n the LO woke up @4am, LO well fed and wrapped placed in car seat and off we go to the train station. Left the amtrak station at Wilmington, Delaware at 6.30am arrived washington dc at 8.20am. Took the subway to Washington DC US passport office arrived about an hour l8r. Within anoda hour baby's documents had been processed and we were asked to come for collection the next day, pleaded with the lady who attended to me that I needed to collect it that day as I don't live in DC and she goes like, OMG, you came all the way from Delaware! Not a problem, happy to do that for you ma'am. Pls come back today by 2.30pm for your daughters' passport. Off we head to the Nigerian Consulate which was 20mins away by Uber. Me-een, DC traffic no be here! We arrive there abt 11.30am, processed our documents within 30mins. About an hour l8r we were called for capturing, they really took care of those with kids, their service was really good, surpassed my expectations by far! After that we were asked to wait for collection but nor told how long we would have to wait. Naija style. Was beginning to worry cos the lady at the US passport office told me to make sure to get there b4 3pm as they close at that time and as I said b4 DC traffic ain't funny. But suprisingly shortly b4 2pm the passports we ready. You need to have seen me grinning ear to ear. Off we head again catch anoda uber back to the US passport office and collect our blue passport. Both passports collected same day b4 3pm, could only be God! By then this breastfeeding mama was starving we walked 6mins to good ol' Mcdonalds had a good meal and even had time to ride on the DC tour bus and see the sights b4 heading home to Delaware. When I told my host my plan she was doubtful weather I could accomplish all in one day even I was too but I trusted God and He saw me through. Wasn't easy o, as I was alone but He was faithful. 49 Likes 2 Shares |

This wasn't the contract in effect as at the time of her delivery at mihs in 2014...this contract is a recent one drawn up and uploaded last year to reflect their nonacceptance of patients outside Maricopa. Amother4life: 3 Likes |

Amother4life: Madam, this is the newly revised contract which is the reason why we can no longer use MIHS. The contract that was signed by people here was not limited to Maricopa County residents. 4 Likes |

Xenadarl: I used Lufthansa in 2014 and i had to call them directly to add my baby. Although my ticket was bought from Lufthansa and not an agent. Not sure if that makes a difference but you can try. |

Amother4life: Oh please, keep quiet! Yes, you heard me, be quiet! You keep yapping about MIHS package being for residents, hence Naija mamas not being entitled to it, did you check to see if it had any of such conditions? This screen shot you posted is for the new package when they had stopped accepting out-of-town patients. The previous package didn't have ANY condition whatsoever. Vivianobas made an oversight with the resident clause and you quickly picked on it and even after someone pointed it out, you still refused to let it go. Same with other ill-informed mamas tagging along with you. We should all be careful of whatever we discuss here. There are VOs and POE officers reading. We don't want them thinking all MIHS mamas and others that used package deals did something illegal. We don't want to give the wrong impression about mamas here. We already have it so hard, we don't need any more issues. Moreover, 99% of mamas here used/use subsidized deals. Without any form of subsidy, no hospital in the US will cost less than $10,000-$15,000 for uncomplicated child birth. Some hospitals are just more subsidized than the others. That doesn't make them medicaid prone. A friend's husband was refused visa some weeks ago because the wife paid less than $6,000 in an LA hospital. The VO insisted that no hospital in the US costs that low for childbirth. Another was sent back from Chicago POE for using another package deal for less than $5,000. It could be MIHS on the line of fire now, it will be others tomorrow. Eventually, we will all be scared of using affordable deals cos of the unforseen consequences. Where does that leave us? We shouldn't corroborate the VOs stories here by implying that those affordable deals of less than $10,000 must have been paid for by the government or that mamas are not eligible for them. Just thought to clear the air. 31 Likes |

LadyGuinivere: That wasn't being mean. There is nothing mean about telling someone mis-yarning to zip it. I've noticed the way he replies posts here with somuch authority like he works with immigration, even when he hasn't the minutest clue about what he's on about. When mamas used that MIHS deal, he wasn't even on this thread. Questions were asked, people doubted, until hardeymijuh flew all the way to Phoenix to make enquiries about the deal, before mamas here embraced it. So yea, he should keep shut when it comes to things he knows nothing about. 15 Likes |

LadyGuinivere: MadameU's case is one of the unfortunate ones we got to know about because she shared. Trust me, a few other mamas that used other hospitals have been refused visa on renewal or returned from POE, with the VOs citing the "no hospital in the US can be that cheap" reason. With the recent development, no one is 100% safe, as long as your bill is less than the proverbial $10,000-$15,000 that these VOs and POE officers think should be the cost of child birth. This is the main reason I was on that man's case. Cos he will only make it more difficult for mamas with his assertions. We are trying to convince them that there are affordable deals so they can get off our case and someone is putting petrol inside the matter. MadamU should go ahead and reapply as advised, with the much evidence she can get. I do think with an understanding and patient VO, she will do just fine. Nice day LadyG and keep up with the good work. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Side comnent Fuel price is NOT 145 naira. Fuel is no longer pegged That figure is its upper limit which no one can sell above and that's to prevent exploitation. As private and modular refineries start work marketers will have both domestic and international options to buy petroleum products. Even NNPC owned refineries will now start selling as profit oriented businesses and it should put to order there historical inefficiencies. @ladyG Yes oh 1st quarter of 2017 for sure in Jesus name, the only thing is hmmm which belle size go fit you. a copy of the old mihs contract would do nicely to clarify issues. madameU, i hope you still have a copy of the one you signed, please cross check once more. @slowlybtsurely, like you said, amother4life may not have been on the forum in 2014 so it is fair to assume s/he does not know of the old contract and is only giving a comment based on the current contract. No need to butt heads, your comment was a bit brash in my opinion, but what do i know? 5 Likes |

@ bolded: I am already scared jare, make awoof no come tear our belle. Maybe we should even steer clear of county hospitals and go to private ones that have relatively cheap packages like USD6k so that they don't say government subsidized it. (don't know if this will help though). The issue is this thing can go out of hand especially if government and legislation changes. They can begin to witch hunt us. SlowlybtSurely: 2 Likes |

vcole: A tad bit brash? Maybe. . . Point is; it is not cool to speak authoritatively on issues you are not fully informed about, especially if it could have a negative effect on others. Same way he jumped on the JPS package deal and stated, without an iota of doubt, that non residents are not qualified to use it. Same JPS I made enquiries about and was sure that out of town mamas are well within their rights to use? I'm sure by now, the VOs reading the thread will be watching out for JPS mamas. happytbaby: Lol. Don't be scared. Except you have $10k to burn. My friend's hubby that they refused visa used a private hospital in LA. I doubt it makes much difference. 4 Likes |

Hello all,I went for my interview today and I was given. First of all am very grateful to God Almighty for favor&also to Nairn land, even though it was my husband that filled the visa application and everything before I started visiting nairn land, all I read was really worth it. Below is the transcript between me and the V.O Me: Goodmorning V.O: Goodmorning, please your passport Me: (hands over passport, though it's a new one I had my old passport&immediately she saw it she said I should also give her the old one which have used just once for an official assignment in Dubai almost 2 years ago) V.O: So u are going for childbirth Me: Yes please V.O: How much do u think u can use for childbirth in the u.'s Me: between $12-15000k V.O: OK, (checks the system&types) pls can I have the hospital correspondence Me: (I hand over the hospital correspondence from Harris methodist hospital texas) V.O: The v.o looks at it&goes through it for just few seconds. She then ask please what do you do&who is ur sponsor Me: I work with Bleep andy husband is my major sponsor V.O: How much does your husband earn and you too Me: I earn Bleep and my husband earn Bleep cos he works for Bleep V.O: Can I have his statementof account if u have it here with you Me: Yes please. I then had over the statement V.O: Glance through it just few seconds and returns it to me,meanwhile she has been typing on the system. Me: Is that all V.O: Yes please ma'am Few seconds later V.O: Your visa has been approved but please take note of not accepting amy for of financial assistance in the u.s,as it would jeopardise ur future attempt for visa renewal in the nearest future and same goes for your husband too. My husband already had his visa last year Anyway that was how I was given the white paper Meanwhile I used Abuja&there were only 3 V.O officials bit I must say I prayed for the lady in box 9 to interview me. There was one black American there, hian it wasn't funny. Her voice was very loud&she refused people even though she gave some. I must say the best policy here is honesty,be honest. There was a pregnant woman they denied apparently she lied at first&it was the same lady that interviewed me. She asked if the woman was 8months pregnant, she said No&the v.O said she's lying as she has her edd as next month, then she admitted, later she asked if she can afford the hospital bill over there,I don't know if it's spirit of error or mistake or she doesn't understand English. Her reply was No&before then she was asked like how much she said $20,000. The V.O then said since u can't afford it ur visa has been denied. I noticed that if u are honest&most especially God favor,ur visa would be approved. The lady that interviewed me gave people that were honest&the few ones that were dishonest she told them out rightly that they are lying&she wouldn't give them In all am very grateful to God Almighty,He alone did it for me today. Next is my POE story loading very soon. Sorry for my longgggg story 21 Likes 1 Share |
