Nigerians are the ones now subsidizing the FG. APC is running a fraudulent trial and error government. FG claimed they've removed subsidy but still fixed price of PMS 55 Likes 4 Shares |

The little explanation for that is simple. Previously, they were giving the marketers FX through CBN at the official rate of N197. But now they have asked the marketers to source for their own forex at the rate of N285 according to the Minister of state for Petroleum Resources yesterday on Channels TV. The PPPRA used the unofficial rate in the calculation. 14 Likes 1 Share |

According to the template, the expected open market price is the actual price of the product without subsidy and it was based on the current exchange rate of N197 to a dollar. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/business-news/202792-petrol-sell-n99-38-per-litre-without-subsidy-pppra.html 3. The meeting also noted that the main reason for the current problem is the inability of importers of petroleum products to source foreign exchange at the official rate due to the massive decline of foreign exchange earnings of the federal government. As a result, private marketers have been unable to meet their approximate 50% portion of total national supply of PMS. 2. All Oil Marketers will be allowed to import PMS on the basis of FOREX procured from secondary sources and accordingly PPPRA template will reflect this in the pricing of the product. https://www.nairaland.com/3099487/press-statement-fuel-subsidy-removal 6 Likes |

The mighty has fallen
the moving train has left its rail.
Our master's dollars keeps rising ,
as our naira crawls to match her pace.
Change not Pain we voted
with over 11 months gone, no changes made.
Yam eaters they all are ,
a transfer of deed from thief to thief.
Our old first man taking tour ,
taking a bite of foreign cuisines from every mall .
His wardrobe resembles that of a Persian King.
His nightly robe made from Arabian kilt.
Our old grandpa sings songs of Nigeria with a foreign accent .
His favourite colour is Peach not Green. ,
The flag with stars is what he loves,
not a divided crest of white and green 64 Likes 5 Shares |

This is the reason https://www.nairaland.com/3102474/subsidy-removal-pppra-pegs-naira It was previously calculated based on control Dollar price funded by Government but scarcity of Dollar made them allow marketers source from parallel market at an agreed price of 298 Naira as against 199 Naira. 4 Likes |

989900: How come the exchange rate when it has been revealed that we swapped crude for refined product while the refinery buys constituents we don't need out of it? Do you perchance mean that Naira has been technically devalued hence holding/issuing N199/$ for/to any business concern is the greatest form of corruption which gives advantage to one business or class of people over others? 5 Likes |

shachris02: I think the right word to use is naira has already depreciated. Currency depreciation is caused by outside market forces where investors lose confidence in the fundamentals of the country (economy, interest rates, political instability, increased risk due to regulations, chronic account deficit, high rates of inflation, etc). Currency devaluation is a monetary policy tool (used internally by the country itself): a deliberate downward adjustment to the value of the currency relative to another currency or group of currencies. 8 Likes 1 Share |

LadyExcellency: 1. There still has to be a reference point in relation to the prevalent oil prices. 2. We do not know the volume nor the full details of the swap, but probably, it is less than 445,000 barrels due our refineries. So, whatever we are getting through swaps would probably be less than 30% of daily imports. 3. How much the local refineries presently produce is not a certainty either. The pricing template is broken down in the attached image in the link below. https://www.nairaland.com/3094055/n55-litre-fuel-without-subsidy 2 Likes |

Who exactly is in charge of our economy now? Because to me, the needed synergy between govt offices especially MoF, CBN & NNPC is non existent. Every one hypothesising and Nigeria the Lab. We were told some months ago that with 40% increase in electricity tariff, there will be constant power supply...we have nothing but excuses now. Subsidy has been removed unceremoniously with another promise of miracle...at a time when salaries are yet to be paid, Forex skyrocketing, Prices of basic commodities in geometric progression, inflation rate at all time high.... Nobody should preach patience to me ooo because since since 1960 na so so patience we dey get. I am sick n tired of all these. Its not all about me. Its about us. #Weareangry. 15 Likes 1 Share |

No point trying to justify, explain or even compare notes on the hypocrisy and deceit dis govt lives by. Subsidy had to go long ago but dey kept misinforming and feeding d masses lies. Like someone asked since our refineries have been claimed to be producing at some capacity, how come it's products is also going to b sold at d same rate with those going to b imported by marketers? 3 Likes |
