And who the heck goes into large scale farming without considering long term storage facilities? That is the dumbest thing av heard in a long while. Aliko should know better na..

They cried out for tomato processing plant without thinking about sustaining crop production all year round.
The man gave it to them. Let them figure out how to feed the plant.

Nigeria is a sh*it hole! When you have a country where planning is foreign this type of crap happens! i mean, even our forefathers didn't have problems feeding themselves! No fuel, no tomatoes, very soon yall will be lacking air to breathe!! Bunch of animals in human skin! When the time comes, people with the right level of IQ will come back and cleanse that land! When we get fed up with you inconsequential nonentities embarrassing us globally!!!!

Mr Dangote tomatoes is the easiest plant ever to plant . There is an underground farm in London that produces lots of vegetables with little threat so much technology these days to plant things.

Which kind bad planning... it is not like they don't irrigate it is that the plant was affected and destroyed by disease

Did you read the post to the end?

The tomato processing factory boss, however, said production would commence during the next irrigation season, emphasising that the company had the capacity to process 120 tonnes of fresh tomatoes per day at full capacity.

The question should be are they (farmers) doing enough to avoid a re-occurrence of the infestation.

Why must tomatoes be predominantly planted in these Northern states, there are arable lands, in the south East and south West were tomatoes can flourish, a lesson for everyone, the one Nigeria mantra should not be toyed with grin

NOETHNICITY:
Why is Nigeria so dependent on seasonal farming!

Most crops are seasonal.

The problem with Nigeria is poor yield and storage which is to do with electricity.

Solar power should be the norm in the north - yet some people are talking about drilling for oil in Lake Chad.

Well I think the management is not really bother about solving the problem but concerned about making an impact in the society with the company. Had been it was to solve problem they will definitely source for raw tomatoes elsewhere. Ymodulos went extra miles across border simply because he wanted to solve the tomatoes problem. Long life Ymodulos
You people make comments as if the management of the company is foolish. Who says the management didn't weigh the pros and cons of going 'extra mile' to source for tomatoes before deciding to shut down? Don't forget we are talking of a business entity that's ONLY interested in profit making and not a charity group. You make yourself sound olodoish when you comment without giving due attention to details
