thenationonlineng.net/cbn-insists-wont-devalue-naira/ The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said yesterday that those campaigning for further devaluation of the naira, or speculating it has already devalued the local currency should have rethink. There were speculations that the CBN would devalue the naira, as a last resort to ongoing economic crisis and will come immediately after raising fuel prices. But CBN’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okoroafor, dismissed speculations that the naira was already devalued further, saying the speculations are unfounded. Speaking yesterday with The Nation, the apex bank’s spokesman said the regulator will not, and has not devalued the naira. “Naira has not been devalued. The naira devaluation rumour is untrue,” he said. But amidst devaluation uncertainties and shortages of forex, most foreign investors remain cautious about entering the Nigerian market whilst currency and reinvestment risks linger. Analysts at FBNQuest, the investment arm of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, said a devaluation as a last resort is on its way although the CBN has stiffened its defense of its exchange-rate policy. “We see devaluation under duress and a year-end interbank rate of N230,” it said. |

NuttyChoky: This supports my point above. Fear still surrounds the banks fortunes. However I think (or hope) it's exaggerated. FBNH will do well. |

Oil slips as dollar strengthens but traders eye Nigerian outages http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0Y4024 Oil prices slipped on Friday, ending a three-day rally, as a strong dollar weighed and investors cashed in on recent gains, but losses were cushioned by outages in Nigeria that have slashed output to the lowest in over two decades. |

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/fuel-price-hike-fg-not-removed-subsidy-says-vp-osinabjo/ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/disturbing-realities-fuel-price-hike/ http://punchng.com/marketers-sell-fuel-n145/ The fact remains that with the gradual rebound in the price of crude oil in the international market and the weak economy of the country, Nigerians are yet to see the end to the hike in the price of PMS, as Nigerians should be prepared to pay between N250 and N300 for a litre of the commodity. The CHANGE is getting real so lets enjoy it, Anybody that is not comfortable should better relocate to Niger Republic Sai-Buhari |

ukay2: The over delay of result is a bad omen. Secondly, Skye has long been desperate to raise money of the size that could have genocidal effect on existing shareholders if carried out at low prices. Investors are wary of this, and that's why it was late and reluctant to join the current bull. |

NLC is such a clown. Why is that it is only when there is increase in pump price they threaten to protest and go on strike. They are MAD! Is that the only thing they are supposing to be doing? What about casualisation of Nigerian graduates by employers of labour, wrongful termination of employment and maltreatment of workers by foreigners, non availability and high price of kerosene, non payment of workers salary by state governors, jumbo salary package by lawmakers amongst others. All these they suppose to be fighting and stand against but they see them as not important. Perhaps, there is no 'egunje' for them doing such. The strike and protest will FAIL and enemies of Nigeria like PETERICHY would bury their head in shame....NUPENG, PENGASSAN, BANKS AND OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS UNION under NECA have all pulled out from joining the strike... NLC is a failed and disappointing union who has lost relevance in modern day unionism.. 1 Like |

PETERiCHY: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/naira-continues-free-fall-now-n370/ The sharp depreciation of the naira in the parallel market triggered by the deregulation of petrol importation continued yesterday, with the naira depreciating to N370 per dollar. The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA on Wednesday said that, with the deregulation of petrol importation, importers will henceforth be permitted to source for their foreign exchange requirements from secondary sources. |
