PARENT And DON'T MARRY Him/her Issue by spiritsam: 10:52pm On May 15, 2016 |
Parent and the you can't marry him/ her syndrome do get me puzzled atimes, When u personally feel God has answered your prayers and you have gotten to your last Bus stop , especially When you guys had dated for long( probably 5yr) been there for each other and had gone thru the bad and the good together, above all the love you have for Each other strong kakaraka and your mum or dad now Said u can't marry him/her and u were like why now and the reply was u just can't marry him/her.... What will u do? .... will u sacrifice your love... As in I mean genuine LOVE or you will go ahead in marrying the person knowing fully well that you are going against your parent...[b] |

My father was never in support of my marriage. He said I would become her slave. My mother said It was an abomination. Today, my wife is my mum's best friend and my dad on the other hand is still querying her for another grandson My point is follow your heart. You are an adult. Your parents job is done the moment you became an adult. They cannot control your future. They have to come to like it however you choose. 5 Likes |

Well firstly, it's an awkward situation . That said, I believe you should know your parents; for you to have dated for 5 years, you probably aren't less than 25yrs, to have spent 25 SOLID years with your folks, you should know what they like and dislike. Why bother toasting a girl you know your parents will disprove of, I don't get it.... |

rose54321: It's your life not your parents.. it's your desire and wants not theirs |
Re: PARENT And DON'T MARRY Him/her Issue by rose54321: 2:05pm On May 16, 2016 |
Greene66: I STRONGLY DISAGREE, this is the wrong misconception most 'new generation' peeps have. Let me educate you, there is no you without them, they brought you into this world. So you owe them a moral obligation to make them happy. Now just like any rule, law or norm there will be exceptionally cases that bend the rule, however if you know your parents don't like a particular trait in a lady, avoid ladies with such traits. There are many fishes in the sea, you don't meet a girl and fall in love overnight, love takes times and so for you to be in love with some, you consciously took the time nurturing the relationship. If from day one, you controlled yourself and didn't approach her, today you wouldn't be in love with her. |
Re: PARENT And DON'T MARRY Him/her Issue by Greene66: 3:13pm On May 16, 2016 |
rose54321: WRONG! I do not owe them anything to make them happy because I didn't ask them to give me life. That's the scam most parents feed to their children. No one asked to be born. We were born because they wanted it not because we wanted it as their children. So it was for them. It wasn't a favor. So no one owes nobody Besides, making them happy and making yourself sad? Which you choose? When they die you would be left alone in this world to reek in your regrets and sadness. If the woman you truly love is not 'their type' would you throw her out the window because some old folks don't want it? Lol Take my advice, YOU DON'T OWE ANYBODY ANYTHING! NOT EVEN YOUR PARENTS! THEY MARRIED AND BIRTH YOU BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO. IT DOES NOT MEAN THEY WOULD RULE AND LORD OVER YOUR ENTIRE LIFE! You are responsible for your actions as an adult. Your parents cannot choose your future. 1 Like |

Greene66: I guess we cannot agree as we both have different views. There's absolutely nothing wrong though in having different views, while I don't agree with you AT ALL, I respect your view as I believe humans are rational and have rationality behind their thought processes. Having said that, I never in my previous message(s) inferred that you should let your parents lord over your life, nobody should lord over your life. What I did say is that you should endeavour to make them happy. Yes they gave birth to you because they wanted a child, or used a detective birth control, but it's LOVE THAT MADE THEM RAISE YOU. If you know the rate of children been flushed out, dropped at orphanages or being left to die, you would understand that raising you was Love and nothing more. There will always be exceptions to every law, there are situations where parents might give absurd requirement of the person you will marry, requirements you might not agree with, then it's your place to make them understand. However, I believe that some situations can be avoided like falling in love with someone from another religion. Love I repeat doesn't start overnight, this ain't a movie. It's real life. It takes time to love, so why start a relationship you know has no future. The plain truth is that most people stupidly start dating someone with the notion 'we are just dating, not planning to marry'; they aren't keen on wife criterias and focus on criteria for now, girl friend material. So when love sets it , it becomes a problem. That said I would never advise anyone to marry someone based on their parents, Hell NO, you can suspend marrying someone they don't like and spend time looking for another you like, but don't drop yours and pick theirs . |
