Leaders are always thinking differently... When we are all crying about high rates of USD and BPD A proactive leader shifted base and signed currency swap deal with China on using Yuan for direct trades . Think of it this way, Since all goods are made in China..why not buy from source using Yuan at N30 to 1Yuan instead of USD and Bpd. Tell me about good leadership and I will tell you about my President Muhammadu Buhari an Economist. 1 Like |

Dpearlz: You made some valid points, China will still assist you in infrastructure development against all odds, the reason is simple, it is a gain-gain situation for the Chinese since your government is offering a PPP. It means the Chinese will "own" the infrastructure for a while till they recoup their investment plus profit. That was how your NLNG was built, do you regret having an NLNG that rakes in over $1.3b annually for the government? Do you regret working for NLNG, one of the best jobs in Nigeria? If NLNG is a good thing then yes, the government did the right thing. 2 Likes |

Wake up Nigeria. Did everybody read the write up before commenting. We need consider the far reaching effect of an agreement of this magnitude. China has its FR in dollars and we are going to keep a part of our reserves in Yuan and we think it is an intelligent move. They are bound to win and we are bound to lose. Every part of the agreement favors China. The money will not be handed over to Nigeria only goods and services to the tune of 2 billion dollars. Interesting isn't it? What are we getting fake and worthless projects that has no direct bearing on the suffering of Nigerians. This calls to mind the rail project executed by previous govt. Where did it leave us? China sold to us trains that date back to1945 in this present day and time. Is it the same type of technology they intend bringing into the country. Let it be known that China has never been an answer to any country's woes. The president should sit down with his think tank group and fashion out a new way of moving this country forward. Cut down leakages from the economy and embolden his drive for corruption free economy. Not going cap in hand begging for handouts that will enslave Nigerians. God help our leaders! |

I have a problem with the Chinese they always comprise standards. My organisation embarked on a project worth half a billion naira with the Chinese these guys refused to transfer the technical know how to us. Language was a serious barrier and they feel u are drawing them back when u trying to understand what they are doing. After less than a year, the project has started falling apart and we are struggling to keep it going. They will come and take our jobs, no Nigerian engineer was involved in this project, they just used Nigerians as menial workers, breakig , digging, packing and so on so there was no transfer of knowledge. They rushed the job and rushed out leaving us with problems. I am very skeptical about them |

jpphilips:It seems you know get the drift. Forex controls was imposed coz of the high demand & low supply. If majority of the goods are from china here in 9ja, it means we will potentially have a high demand for the yuan. Now how much is in the reserves to feed our appetite? I believe not so much. So what happens? Forex control applies, to allocate the scarce currency. Or do you suggest that Importers and other individuals will get the yuan as easy as they want and at the Official price? If yes, wake up! |

Alanzazani: Did you guys consider learning Chinese before bringing them in? Nobody is going to transfer their technical know how to you just like that. You have to be smart. Look, listen and learn. How do you think the Japanese and the Chinese learnt from western technology? They select their brightest brains and teach them languages necessary for them to learn quietly. I recently saw a video of a Chines guy speaking Hausa on a plane. That's how they roll. |

Chukzyfcb: You are preempting the process, first ,we had low oil price which means low foreign reserve in $$, now, we identified most of our needs coming from a country whose currency is weaker than dollars (china). It doesn't stop us from earning dollars and for us to trade with China, some of our dollar component will be converted to Yuan so all the trade going to China will be transacted in Yuan while others will still be $$. It is a paradigm shift from what we used to do before where we pressurize our FXR to support Chinese trade in $$. About your restrictions, moving from dollars to yuan means more FXR so the restrictions will not apply for now, except like you said, if more people join the import struggle, to be honest, you will never know till the process kick starts, again, the government is claiming that Nigeria will become the Yuan clearing house for Africa, meaning they have more than enough to go round, I doubt that part though, in all, you will never know how it is gonna play out in the end. |

Alanzazani: You just spoke like a typical Nigerian, sit at home, spread your legs then wait for technology, knowledge and skill to fall on your laps, are you kidding me? There is no Chinese technology today that is not a clone, none!! they ran an advanced spy network, sending smart citizens to higher institutions and corporations to steal the technology, is that what you expect them to dash you? You go old dey wait. Your oil and gas industry is awash with American and European technology, how many have you gotten? you are smart enough to know that sleeping does not pay 1 Like |

Alanzazani: You operate abi? tell us what you operate, because they are using you to turn valves and do petty maintainance you think you operate anything? look at this mofo. tell us what you operate and I will ask you questions based on the technology that support it. Oil and gas maintenance is all about remove and replace, the least control device in the field a valve, do you have a valve producing company in Nigeria? so what exactly do you operate that you have a clue about its technology? ordinary drill bit, compressor, pneumatic control systems, pressure relief valves, detectors just mention it, do you have a single manufacturer in Nigeria? You are doing Boi boi for the tech owners you are here talking rubbish, go and hide, the day you will send a PO to a Nigerian company to send you a made in Nigeria compressor, then you know you have arrived. Go to a US or italian oil field and check all the components if they are not all made in their home countries, what do you even know? Look at this guy. |
