LadyGuinivere:

Chloe is right . Nigerian customary marriage is not akin to either civil union or common law marriage. Common law marriage has no ceremony but the couple live together for a coupla years and are seen as married. Civil union is not recognized in some countries eg same sex marriages. Like somebody said, others is more appros.
My question however is, why do u want to change your status in the space of one month? Your matter already has k leg now u want them to 'mark you bad' sef before u enter the exam hall.the whoever accessing your form and interview notes may not even give u an opportunity to explain the difference and just chalk it to fraudulent intentions #myopinion

@Chloe Love a Lawyer! It is Legal grin

@LadyGuinivere I just want to do the right thing, don't want to leave any chance for misrepresentation (considering that I am going go have my 2nd baby and still can't be single u get?) would just look mischievous + VO will feel I have no ties(family as in husband) since they see everyone applying as an intending immigrant until you can prove otherwise. Before they think I am running away from Nig with my child.

So I can see a lot of positive ideas regarding my case and I really appreciate them/everyone that has contributed. Firstly I want to state that everything I did I did ignorantly (That's no excuse I know too) That's why I am using this my reapplication as my chance to right all wrongs and also be as honest as I can be and also plead my case. I hope and trust in God that he favors me but if for any reason I don't get it, that's really not the end of the world. But at least I know I have a clean sheet with them just for future references (All Info will be the same) Also the only reason I reapplied single in the last application that was denied was because of the fact that I didn't know if traditional marriages are accepted by them, been I didn't see that form of marriage on the form. But now that I reapplied with all honesty I used the "Other" option and a space popped for me to explain which I did state "I have done my introduction and also my traditional marriage Ceremony" I have pictures to show thankfully. So let me just keep my fingers crossed and wait to come brief you all of the outcome. I Wish myself luck. grin

Section42(2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 constitution under the heading rights of inheritance, this states that – No citizen of Nigeria shall be subject to any disability or deprivation merely by reason of the circumstances of his or birth.

The above section of the law has abolished illegitimacy in Nigeria. No child can be deemed to be illegitimate. And in cases whereby the father refuses to acknowledge the child for the purposes of inheritance, DNA testing can come to the rescue...

read the MCA and MA very well or any material you have on legitimacy and stop saying it has been abolished , even though sec 42 has come to play, legitimacy and legitimation still stands , if you are actually in practice then you will know there is still a term called legitimacy and legitimation, where there is conflict of laws one must prevail, LadyGuinivere na my Oga she will shed more light

What's my own? It is because I wasted my mb and finger power to analyse a situation. Nobody kukuma sent me lipsrsealed. God forbid, if any mama has to stay back because of issues, don't apply for extension o! Just sit it out and bank on explaining yourself when it's time for renewal and expect VO to smile and give you a pat on the back.

Since I am not a god in these matters, a simple google search would have helped. For those who have stayed over 1 year in US, please see below:

Day 1 & 2 I kept hearing she's not eating well (formula) so d sugar has not stabilize. As at this time no breast milk yet but I was using pump to stimulate (FTM). So I kept praying. By day 3 I asked them if I can be doing d feeding my self they say yes. I got colostrum that day took it there n fed mmy baby. I started going there every feeding time 3 hourly. I just said prayer for you... I can imagine what you are going through. When my baby was in NICU, I could barely eat or sleep, I was nearly depressed!
It was only later I found out she was in NICU because the nursery was short staffed so they either roomed the baby in with the mother or if the baby needed monitoring they took her to NICU (to be fed enfamil!!! angry) not like she really needed to be there, but those 3 days were hoooorrrrrible! I can guess it's half of what you are going through.

Nevertheless,be grateful to God you are in a system that works, and you can have 100% faith that your baby will pull through very easily. I saw a 0.5g baby(born at 22 weeks to a drug user) in NICU that survived and went home after 5+ months. Meanwhile the 0.9kg and 1.1kg babies I had in 9ja were not given a fighting chance.

I cannot even tell you to relax and calm down, but for your health and that of the baby, please pull yourself together, regain your composure and take it one day at a time. Visit the baby daily if you can, and if you need to rest, please rest. Also try and send for your husband. You need all the emotional support you can get. I'm hoping you are staying with family/friends? Don't be alone this period and make sure you monitor your bp...

As per the bill, you cannot do more than yourself. $1m cannot buy a soul, whatever the bill comes to, just pull an orubebe for them, and ask for a massive discount! You pay with you have and if you dont have, you will spread the balance o! Patapatapata, if the hospital has charity, they should use their church mind.

Pele my dear! I feel for you.
