I am not aware of any age limit for registering with NMC, UK. I cannot speak for other countries as I don't have that much information.

To practice in any country, she needs to register with the board of nursing in that country. For Uk, NMC is responsible for registration and licensure. But, being an oversea trained nurse, she needs to write an English proficiency exam. In this case, the acceptable one is IELTS. She also needs to score the required mark before she can be eligible to apply for registeration.

I don't know if there is an age limit for Nurses overseas, even if she is able to migrate abroad the problem she is going to face will be finding an employer willing to sponsor her at her age.

Google how to acquire a bachelor in nursing degree and registration as a nurse in those countries na.

if you have a bsc in chemistry then you can do a bridge program into nursing. It is 12 to 18 months long in usa. All you have to do is enrol in the Nursing program as a second course. Follow TheArchangel's advice and google it up then contact the school directly. You will also need to have your chemistry degree transcripts evaluated.

Good morning, gee thanks. But its actually an HND in chemistry.... Have tried google, not been able to find anything concrete yet. Does anyone know of any school, so I could just contact them directly? Thanks in advance

Her biggest hurdle to cross is IELTs. Getting the required score can be challenging. I am sure that's what her colleagues have been unable to pass not cbt.

If u ve had 2years ans above working experience, i think you should contact avants, they are reliable. They work and i knw this frm experience

I agree that some nurses are not nice to patients especially those in government sector. There is no profession that doesnt have some bad eggs, but what do you expect? It takes great patience and the grace of God to care for a sick person who doesnt even appreciate what you are doing. Nurses go through emotional trauma and physical abuse every single day starting from the doctor who wants to blame you for every mistake, the patient and their relatives and even your own matron.. Only the brave can nurse. We take care of the sick even when we are sick, im not trying to say all nurses are saints.. No we are not, we are humans too and i am looking forward to the day when Nigerian nurses in particular will get the respect they deserve.

How can most nurses' in Nigeria get the respect they deserve when they haven't earned it? Very unprofessional lot.

1. They dress very unprofessional. Who wears sandals to work?
2. They are rude. It doesn't matter if a patient/ family yells at you, you are a professional and should act as such.
3. You are within your right to challenge a doctor's orders if there are concerns of contraindications or if the said orders will cause more ill-health to your patient. Again this is Nigeria where there are no laws protecting anybody.

When family members yell at you, not everyone of them enjoy doing that, it's because they and their relative are vulnerable at the time, and being helpless causes them to lash out..... There is something called Empathy and Active listening. Most times they are lashing out at you they are trying to tell you something..their fears, their concerns....why wasn't active listening imbedded in you lot brains in Uni?

LISTEN, THE MINUTE MOST OF YOU PUT SENTIMENTS ASIDE AND START TO WEAR YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAPS, THE LESS LIKELY THESE BEHAVIOURS WILL AFFECT YOU. Yes you are human, but you are also a professional. Take note of that. If you don't like the job, then find something else to do that will not put you in a crossfire between relatives/patients and other health practitioners...the minute you decide to care for someone, be prepared to take the good, the bad and the ugly. Patients can be nasty, yes they can...you don't think they are vulnerable at the time? You are talking about them not appreciating you....mentality like yours is the reason why the health care system has failed and still failing in Nigeria. Forget about them licking your feet and do your JOB. I repeat you are a professional and should act like one.

The summary to my epistle is this: The Nigerian Nurses'/Medical Board is very incompetent. The director of nursing and medical supervisors of health care facilities do not care...because I see the way some health practitioners talk to people while they are on duty..very incompetent lot. Health practitioners in developed countries wouldn't dare talk to anyone like that. You and your license are answerable to the board so you guard it with your life.

I'm sorry...not my intent to be rude. It's just sad when I watch our health practitioners' be rude to people

When you are trained in a faulty system it often seems as the wrong things are the norms that should be upheld, I mean I am on this thread because I want to leave Nigeria. The level of professional decadency in our hospitals will make a sane person lose his/her mind.. I do not want the faulty norms to burrow deeper before I jets out or I will have to undergo a form of desensitization when I eventually hightails it out.

I swear you'd want to unleash fire and brimstone on the health care system and the people responsible for making health related decisions/laws in Nigeria. I was in Nigeria recently and watched a nurse be so rude to a man who was dying of cancer and his wife. No Empathy nothing. I swear it's frustrating. No one forced anyone to practice so if you decide to practice, do your damn job and do it right.

Where do I even begin? is it the one that announced a patient's blood results in the general waiting area? no privacy and patient-doctor/nurse confidentiality arrrgggggg

For Canada ,I think(from friends) RNs need to write the board exam, written in Canada only. You have 3 attempts. If you fail 3 times, you cannot re-write it . For America, I once met a nurse from California who said he was paid basic rate, no penalties...meaning, he got the same hourly rate even if he worked am, pm and weekend shifts..don't know how true that is. For Australia, I think you need to do a bridging course, usually for a minimum of 3 months?? before you can practise. But you must apply to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency/NMBA as an overseas trained nurse wanting to practice in Australia. They provide you with a list of schools to do your bridging course through. @mpvGoddess.. How long did you wait for cgfns to receive your credentials? I sent mine on the 12th of may but they are yet to receive them.. Does it normally take this long?
