@imperiouxx, I don't know how well LinkedIn works in Nigeria but I will give it a try. The annoying thing is that companies keep asking for experience, if graduates are not being employed in jobs or internships, where will the experience come from? Some go as far as listing 24-26yrs as a requirement in their job description and using age as a requirement in employment is discrimination. In standard HR practice, you do not need to put your age, religion, state of origin or even marital status in an application as it is a basis for bias but in Nigeria, everything goes. And as ASUU is almost always on strike, how do companies actually believe that students will graduate at the age of 24-26? Except you are schooling in a private university or abroad which is not subject to ASUU strike. Truth be told, companies are been unrealistic in their job descriptions and requirements. Most are unwilling to train employees and even when you end up training yourself with certifications, most are reluctant to offer anything other than peanuts. May God help us all. |

GeneralShepherd: Today will be my one year anniversary of temporary stay at home job(lol) after NYSC, in this one year I send out an average of 5 job applications a day not to talk of the ones i sent out during my youth service. that is roughly about 1500 job applications all online. @ OP, i don't really know why but reading ur story just made my heart full of fear for the future. I am a final year geology student in UNIZIK. Though i am still too young and naive to advise you, but i suggest that you go for your masters while applying for Job, instead of not doing anything at all. |

everyone should get themselves occupied. 70% of the people doing the 9-5jobs are really unhappy and can barely have a savings. is that what you want to do with your time and knowledge? Get a tech-no how knowledge and do your thing. Goodluck |

Ah... Op, I am so happy right now. I know I commented here some days ago. Okay, I was talking to my sister on phone and she told me her husband has secured a job in Switzerland. I asked how he did and she said via online application. Mind you, they are not in naija o. If naija job listing does not work, try foreign. Meanwhile, me I still dey serve but I sure know that I Will street the street. |

Yes, but if you get lucky, the company will handle all that for you. Try all avenues bro. Last year, a nairalander's husband secured one from Naija straight to Norway or so. He has experience in the industry which may have given him an edge because One thing I have learnt is that when you get experience in your field, job search becomes a little easier. It's quite tough when you have non. Try some guerilla tactics bro... I will street the street when it's time. GeneralShepherd: |
