While growing up in my SS3 days in college, i remembered i could not express myself properly in English which is a major problem of English as a second speaking countries which Nigeria falls to.But, i understand all my subjects taught in Eenglish. While it may be true some students cannot express themselves in English but can write correct and good English which i fell into then, i still want to believe an SS3 student should need no interpretation when being questioned in English as the rest NL'ers have said.Kogi is no more an Educationally Less Developed State. It had been removed some few years ago contrary to what a poster alluded Kogi Is poor educationally. 1 Like 1 Share |

Ndifereke: There are many Educationally Challenged people in Nigeria who can not communicate properly in English or Pidgin in SS3. I remember in my secondary school where many of us scored very high to gain admission. A lot of Northern boys came with full scholarships with cut off marks not up to 1/4 of our scores. There are remote areas that need a lot of educational assistance. It I not the kids fault but the absolute neglect from our so called leaders. |

Topiipii: You are missing the point, bro. Those students you taught that you opined can't write anything meaningful can at LEAST understand ordinary Pidgin language. Amina can't write, speak or even understand English Language talk more of Pidgin. These are two different scenarios. 1 Like 1 Share |

For every doubters of Chibok girls abduction. The same calamity that befall their families will come to your doorstep.Your children would go out and would not return home. But if it was a scam ,for pointing it out,you would be rewarded wonderfully by almighty God. |

TheGoodJoe: TheGoodJoe:https://www.nairaland.com/3071124/attackers-engaged-policemen-soldiers-shoot-out If you do not know, do not act as if you know. This is not about ethnic or tribal sentiments. kaka74: From what I heard, most of these challenged kids are not tested on their English fluency but if they understand the principles. They do not answer in English but the teachers grade them from their understanding. The corpers who handled these challenged kids are in best position to explain. The point is that there are numerous Educationally Challenged kids that have written WAEC and will write WAEC. It is a challenge thy cope with. |

TheGoodJoe: THIS IS A SPECIAL KIND OF SCAM. There was actually a raid in the school by the boko haram sect. About 300 girls were abducted. But where the scam lies is that THERE WAS KNOWLEDGE OF THE ATTACK even before it happened. It's like organising a bank robbery and also being a victim of the robbery at the same time. APC/GMB/AntiJonathan Peeps planned the whole thing using BokoHaram as their tool. Now the whole aim has being acheived and all these drama is only a CLEANUP EXERCISE. |

omakay: It is totally more than what you are insinuating. This is bigger than a political stunt. Thousands of Lives lost. Communities wiped out and families wiped out forever. Chibok Girls tale is just a small piece of the havoc that took place. The boys who lost their lives in FGC Buni Yadi did not have their stories told or their faces on TV. The hundreds of girls and women rescued from Sambisa Forest did not get Presidential reception. Look at Sarah Luka. The girl rescued yesterday. No one cares because she is not among the Chibok listed Girls. The Chibok story brought help and awaking a sleeping government. It is more than a Political clean up. This is a message that terrorism is a cancer and we should not let it grow. No matter the region or religion it raises it's ugly head from. 1 Like |

Ndifereke:I was hoping you wouldn't say this as I intentionally left it out of my last post. I am telling you that I had students who would reply me in Ibibio after I ask them questions, the scenario is this: Me, interpreters being the students who at least can communicate in passable to decent English and then the student. My question as well as the student's response goes through the interpreters everytime, sounds unbelievable isn't it? As to this student, she even lives in a place where there are less English/Pidgin 'speakers' than A/Ibom meaning that her case is worse, now add two years during which I'm certain she did not speak the language (assuming she understands a little before her captivity) what do you think will happen? I lived in Enugu between 1995 and 1998, my sisters for a 2yrs and 8months; despite the fact that we were all born and had schooled in Lagos before we left, they had trouble speaking and understanding the language when they got back (they had never spoken English in their life before leaving Lagos other than the compulsory alphabet and spelling learnt in school, we speak Yoruba at home and at all times). The reason for this is that they spent a little more than two years speaking English/Pidgin in Enugu (82 Div., Abakpa Cantonment), even to our dad once they picked up the language. I fared better because I was already reading and writing in Yoruba, continued reading and writing and also took Yoruba in school which they did not. Now compare my sisters who were native speakers to this lady who probably understood a few words before her abduction and tell me if she would have fared any better. The fault is not that of the students, it is as a result of one the most backward educational system currently in existence. I would have loved to create a thread where former NYSC members can share their experiences, but I don't know if it will get the kind of traction I'd like; believe me you'd be shocked at what you'll read, even in the so-called 'Educationally Advanced States'. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Alah, you are indeed one of the most senior zombies. Why not ask her to come in channel, ait etc to speak english. How on earth can an ss111 girl cannot speak English? How, then can she write exams set in English langiage? |

TheGoodJoe: I did a bit of my NYSC in Kebbi before redeploying to Lagos and except anyone has experienced the educational system in the north (some parts), people should stop this talk about she been in SS3 and not been able to speak or understand in English, don't jump on the bandwagon and type what you think you understand 1 Like |

I think Amina is actually a chibok girl but isn't a student sitting for WAEC exam. So many people were kidnapped from chibok before and after the school "incident". They just gathered names of missing young girls in chibok and then used the school incident to front their aim. |
