na·tion/ˈnāSH(ə)n/ noun a large aggregate of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory. By this definition is Nigeria a nation? The Hausa/Fulani are Caucasian race who reject being known as Africans and see themselves as Arabs. What cultural link do we in the better south share with the Arab Muslim north? In terms of political ideology and aspirations the Yoruba race is more aligned to the north and they have stated through a spokesman for the Yoruba pan-social group (Afenifere) that they yorubas share more cultural links to the north? it is my understanding that multiculturalism doesn't work as can be seen with Nigeria. It isn't about economics alone but the fact that we have the Muslim North bent on subjugating us under their evil banner of islam just as they did to the numerous black African tribes in both the north, middle belt and parts of Yoruba land. With this I firmly believe only a mad man will want to sacrifice his cultural heritage over one failed state in the name of silly patrotism. 2 Likes 1 Share |

ShinnBet: 200 years ago, the Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba man hardley knew each other and had no connections whatsoever. Since the creation of Nigeria in 1914, the 3 people have been killing each other in the millions to prove that they are brothers. Something is inherently wrong in the mental state of us Africans 1 Like 1 Share |

gidgiddy:Nigeria is the only nation on earth to operate a bi-mercurial constitution - one for the proletitized populace and one for the northern Ulma in the form of sharia law. The north has both local jurisprudence and policing instruments that run contrary to the constitution. Fulani criminals have the choice of choosing between a customary legal system or sharia courts from which they secure easy release from the later. The Hisbah sharia police is very much active in the north which makes the emirs chief custodians of legal dispensation in the north thereby invalidating any authority the conventional penal and secular courts and police have in that region. The north arrogantly assumes they are born to rule and the authority they draw this attitude from is both ethno religiously inspired. It is thus safe to say that the authorities that be in the north sees themselves above any of our secular laws as this puts their authority within their second tier constituion in the background . The only solution to this is for Nigeria to be dissolved and for those who arrogantly claim to be superior to remain within their enclaves . It is sad to note that the so-called enlightened south have allowed state and religious legislation and policing to override the constitution . Nigeria is proof that multiculturalism does not work and can never work. The sad thing about multiculturalism debate in the western world is how the useful liberal idi0ts have succeeded to label any opposition to multicultural Marxism as a bigoted racist while this isn't the case. Take for example Brazil. This is a multi racial nation with a singular brazilianesque culture . Brazil's problem isn't multicultural but rooted deep in a legacy of racial class divide stemming from its slaving heritage. But if you consider Nigeria , our problems aren't obviously racially motivated even though the Hausa Fulani does not considered themselves as African but Arab - rather our problems stem from not forming a harmonious working document that will entail all our cultures existing equally side by side. 3 Likes |

Horus: America is consisted of federating states. It can't be considered a nation by itself but a union. The reason America is successful is because it has a well written and universally accepted constitution which guarantees individual liberties, freedom of speech and that to worship with the right to bear arms for ones defense. 2 Likes |

A society's laws and traditions are defined by its people to accommodate all interests. These laws and customs can promote a prosperous and stable society as long as the laws and customs adopted are agreed by all. A situation where every group wants to impose their own laws and customs on others smacks of pure intolerance. That is why today we have a bunch of Islamists lunatics fighting to impose their ungodly religion on others. Nigeria is proof that multiculturalism does not work. 1 Like |

I seem to agree with the Op here. Nigeria is arguably not a nation because we don't have common culture, religion and otherwise. There's nothing binding us together....no binding force. This is our problem. 2 Likes |

Horus: That is assuming that those who benefit from that highly skewed document are willing to renegotiate our collective charter. It isn't a matter of re drafting a new constitution but if under the same constitutional provisions for amendment that our collective existence can be renegotiated. You are witness to the arrogant stance of the north in the last confab and how they were never ready to see any changes in resource control and a dropping of Sharia legislature from the constitution. I believe the question you ought to ask is if the constitution can even be amended to address all real and genuine grievances. To that I say it is not possible since the north will never ever want the document as it is to be tampered with. |
