Re: My Crochet Fantasy by AlphaHandMaiden(f): 10:35am On May 13, 2016
trublvr:
WIP - Work in progress
FO - Finished Object
UFO - Unfinished Object
Frogging - to rip out rows or an entire project, either to recycle or correct an error

Thanks for clarifying. I thought as much but sometimes you cant be to sure. cheesy I don learn new terms.

@ Lumiadee
Great suggestion on the blog!

Lady Ynnk do consider it, you have a gift in teaching i think... e no easy to do online tutorials complete with images and video stills.

It would be great to see more naija blogs of crafty people not only those that like cooking, gossip and make-up. Even the sewing chats and blogs are all about clothes and garment making.. good but there is more that can be made with a sewing machine than just clothes...

Ok... i don dey type for africa again .lol so lemme stop! grin Am sure you all get the gist of the rant!

So others please take inspiration and look for ways to showcase your talents.(myself inclusive)

@ Lovemaths, please let the house know where yarn could be purchased in Lagos.

@Lumiadee, many thanks.

Ynnk:

Good day Goldenruby. Please see page 7 of this thread where I explained that with a red yarn pictorial. There are small spaces under the "Chain-like " top where you crochet into.

Hi Ynnk. Are you based in Abuja? And do you teach people how to knit and crotchet? I do a bit of crotcheting but I will really love to perfect on both crotch ing and knitting. Can you help me out or probably refer me to someone who can teach me?

@Steffii, I left Abuja last year. I teach online.
Basic tutorials begin on page 4 of this thread.
Why not try it and see. At least when you master the pattern reading, the sky will be your starting point.

There are also lots of free materials online.
I can't really link you to a specific person.

You can always post any questions here. Lots of people are willing to help.

I buy the "yeye" brand of yarn in the local market. you can buy from those selling fishing line thread or those who sell attachment, weaveon and hair products. I also heard that you can buy yarn at a cheaper rate at trade fair in the ojo area of Lagos.

A lot of people have joined our page on facebook recently. The name of the page is "crocheters and knitters of Nigeria"

I think they sell foreign wool at crafties though I have not been there before. I look forward to.

Yes, crochet has many terminologies. I'll try to search for it on my phone and post it.

For those who don't have a big size of wool, I suggest you try filet crochet. You make use of graph patterns.

I love writing and I have a blog but I am developing content for now.

The crocodile stitch ministry is moving. I love the blanket. I have been down with malaria. I hope I'll be able to complete my bag by week end.

Thanks, you inspired me to start the stitch. Hope you are much better now?
I won't be able to join in the CAL for now cos I have a lot of items to crochet/knit in a very limited time.
Hope I can post my pictures?

There is usually a gauge at the beginning of most crochet patterns. The gauge allows you to test the outcome.
Try working with a written pattern and doubling your yarn. You can also work with measurements for the larger sweater size so that the finished sweater will look smaller but then the size will still be okay.
