The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, an armed group that engaged the Nigerian government in the past, has broken its silence and has condemned the recent spate of attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta region.http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/203883-mend-breaks-silence-tackles-niger-delta-avengers.html 3 Likes

The group said the “painful but necessary resolution” to respect the ceasefire was borne out of its belief that as President Muhammadu Buhari marks his first year in office, he deserves more time to stabilize the country that, it was “run aground by the ill-fated, corrupt, clueless and visionless immediate past administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan which pauperized the Nigerian people to the alarming degree we all experience today”.Nice one. No better description for the immediate past administration. @ colored I love this. ![]() 131 Likes 11 Shares

If this is really true, then the Niger Deltans are doing well by saying 'NO' to the renewed violence which seems narrow minded and in the interest of a selected few. War is not the only way to be heard out. 14 Likes 1 Share |

Nigerian authority should reach out to disgruntled groups and see how the conditions they gave cld be met if possible,it is absolutely unnecessary being overly confrontational, diplomacy and dialogue shld be the order of the day. Going around bribing or funding other camps in the Niger-Delta,inother to bring disharmony, can only lead to more crisis, cult wars, militants vs militants and more aggrieved groups emerging and this will never do Nigeria any good,as witnessed in the past. PMB must also learn to operate an all-inclusive government,be more nationalistic,nt classifying some as 5% who deserve less, shun tribalism and nepotism, fight corruptn in totality and nt just the opposition, bring an end to the genocide committed by Fulani herdsmen on other Nigerians, stop indiscriminate arrest of disssenting voices, obey the orders of the law courts. When all this is done, the militants will lose sympathy, the will definately backout from sabotaging the economy and then there will be the willness of Nigerians from every section of the country to contribute their quota to its development. 21 Likes 1 Share |

NDA is IPOB and IPOB is NDA. Why are they clamouring for release of the Bleaching Lunatic aka "Our Dilector ". We cannot be fooled. SE is using NDA to destabilise Nigeria. 43 Likes 6 Shares |

Groups like MASSOB and MEND are no longer relevant, despite the fact they brought attention/awareness to the struggle of the Brotherhood of the East/Midwest. Unfortunately for them, newer groups with renewed efforts and strategies are on the move. So, no surprise of the so-called dissociation. 55 Likes 1 Share |

Look at how various groups even within the Niger delta are even condeming the acts of their fellow niger deltas. Even the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo has called on this avengers to shield their sword and accept dialogue. But the fulani herdsmen have been taking lives and sacking communities and yet no single northern group opened their mouth to condemn their action. Even Buhari has refused to condemn it. Even when Boko haram started off newly,Buhari stated that an 'attack on Boko haram is an attack on the whole north' 57 Likes 4 Shares |

AustineE1:It's actually Amaechi's handwork. This present MEND is loyal to Amaechi. They were the thugs he used during the Rivers elections. He also used them to make a statement against Jonathan during the presidency electioneering period. The present MEND has been politicised. They no long talk about full resource control and true FISCAL federalism. They have lost touch with the Niger Delta struggle and no longer command followership as before. NDA is the new group that is fast gaining popularity in the creeks. They (NDA) now speak for the Niger Delta people. 66 Likes 8 Shares |
