[quote author=Marcus01 post=45867675]Good evening everybody. I'm very confused right now. I finished with a third class in Biochemistry. I felt there was no hope anymore so I picked an undergraduate course again. But I was denied visa based on purpose of visit. Someone said I should have picked something higher than undergraduate but there are no schools for third class graduates. Is it that there's no hope for someone that finished with a third class? Please advise me. What do you think I can apply for? @thesoj, @skinnybadguy, @justwise @hayqinsbFX @breadandbeans [ Not sure of Canadian schools but i know some US institutions do accept third class for postgraduate courses. I can contact a friend to confirm again, only if your interested in US. |

I also I tried applying to an undergraduate study in civil engineering to different schools in canada to obtain my B.ENG. I was specifically told by the admission officer of one of the schools I applied to he said and I quote "even if I give you admission, my people at the embassy will not give you visa. They will not see any reason why a graduate want to go and start over again. They will believe you want to go and never come back.they Will never give you visa. I will advise you go got PGD". After that, I was later told that undergraduate visa is usually given to age between 17 - 21 years of age. So my plan is to go for a post graduate diploma in my course which is two years program after which I applied for study visa with my post graduate admission letter. Once am in Canada, i will apply as a transfer student into the university for my B.ENG. it is easier to extend your study permit there than applying for a study permit with undergraduate admission letter after graduation. You can try Algonquin college in Ottawa for post graduate diploma. thesoj: 1 Like |

Flawless1988: Congratulations dear. Women traveling with children have gotten their trv. Even those traveling with spouse, children, infact their entire family to study have not been delayed if they can show proof of enough funds to support them. So check how much money you submitted in your application as available funds. Is it enough to support a dependent ( I think it's plus 4,000 cad a year, I'm not sure), also medical costs (even if you might have insurance)? Therein lies your answer on whether you will be granted trv or not. I wish you all the best! 4 Likes |

PlaybooyGANG: Check University Of Manitoba and University of Ottawa. Those schools are cheap for graduate studies. Your last two years GPA is very important for University of Manitoba. You should have minimum of 3.0/4.0 in the last two years of study. If you're self-sponsored then you should consider having $10k in addition to your tuition fee. Most graduate schools in Canada offer either fellowship or teaching assistantship as scholarship. You should consider applying on time to be eligible for scholarships. Try to apply for thesis masters if you're looking for scholarships. Course based masters don't usually attract scholarships. University of Ottawa offers 15k Cad as scholarship mostly for thesis master students. Their tution range from 6k-7k cad for a session. Your supporting documents are very important. Depending on yourprogram; you'll need the following; 1. Statements of intent 2. Research proposal (500words for u of Ottawa) 3. Two reference letters depending on your program. Maximum of 3. 4. Your CV 5. Official transcript. Your cgpa is important but what is more important is your cover letter or letter of intent, with that you can explain why you had bad grades in one or two semesters. Your research proposal is also very important. Work on it very well. Make sure you check departmental website to see if the institution has a supervisor that is vast in your area of research interest. Cos if they don't have supervisor in your area of interest, no matter how high your cgpa is or how sound your research proposal is, you would be denied admission. It happened to me, I was denied admission to u Of Manitoba cos the department was unable to secure a supervisor that was ready to take me. So make sure you contact a potential supervisor. Tell him your research interest. Show him that you're passionate about it . Finally pray to God. I hope I am able to help. Opinions of others gurus like justwise, haqinsfxb are needed on this too. 5 Likes |

Greetings, Originally we required Nigerian students to pay the full tuition fees , however now you can just pay for once semester, it is approximately $7,200.00 . An official invoice will be found in your student portal, under the financial tab. https://studentportal.conestogac.on.ca/StudentPortal/Default.aspx After payment , it takes 7-10 business days for us to receive your payment and issue a "Confimation" Letter. This letter can be used along with the letter of acceptance to apply for a visa. hi, when i applied, i had no idea that one is suppose to pay for accommodation. when i got here, i didn't know anyone, no one picked me from airport cos i didn't know you could contact and make arrangement with your school. i checked into a hotel for 3weeks before i could find my own place. spent almost 400k in that 3wks. it was really tough. i knew it was gonna be tough so i had to make sure i was ready financially. i was called a monkey while trying to get a house in Toronto, abi na accent barrier? but looking back now, it made me keep my head up and rolling my dice well. am in my 2nd semester of my 2nd program. anyone coming to seneca college Newnham, holla at your boy so i can assist in any little way. finestlex@gmail.com its advisable not to pay for accommodation when you've not gotten your visa. staying off campus is far cheaper than Seneca residence. every knowledge i had before my application came from nairaland family (chrigo, missbon, amefrica, PHYZ, and justwise) whoever emails me for info, am gonna reply you and as well paste your question and my reply on nairaland so others can learn. Toronto aka Tdot is a sweet city, jobs, beautiful ladies etc #smiles. God bless our hustle everyday< Amen (2) when you fire your visa app and you called up for medicals, drink a lot of water 3days before you go so you can pee always in order to throway all the malaria in your system. i was scared when i did mine which is normal, my BP even nack 142 over something which was cos i was nervous, but trust me, just relax and have it done and everything would be fine. i know this thread is a lot but if newbies can read part 1 to 5 only, you'll have every info you need, no question is stupid, always feel free to ask, we all here to learn and encourage one another. BLESS!! Made123: 11 Likes |
