jeffp: It depends on how hot, its supposed to be hot but not extremely hot like overheating, my 650va blue gate is one of the latest model type, it doesn't overheat and I don't have the cooling fan inside and atimes its ON for 24hrs, don't know how hot ur ups is but u can buy a cooling fan, if u have read through dis thread from page one , u will see a picture of it and how to install it urself, or give it to an electrician, at oshodi ,the cooling fan is 300naira but other places its 500naira, its square in shape, and its 12volts, don't buy the small ones, ur electrician will install in inside the ups and the fan should face the transformer, if u don't know how a cooling fan looks like, just check ur smart charger, it has the small ones installed inside or check the back of ur stabilizers or inverters too, but first find out how hot it is, use for more than 30min and touch, if its too hot that u can't put ur hand on it, then u need the fan,its normal if its hot but not extremely hot |

Hi, Can a single 80watts solar with pwm charger charge my 80a two battery solution Ikeja Electric has refused to cooperate. I want to use a combination generator and solar to charge my solution. Once fully charged it actually works fine but I cant keep using generator only. Also do fairly used solar panals work? gurus ideas? |

timifakay: actually its two 40a battery totalling 80a. so that means it will take 2 days to get to full charge I just need something to put charge on the battery during the day. |

sentix:Okay then, that's should work fine if u don't use more than 50% of d batteries daily. 1 Like |

I have a 1.5kva inverter and 2pcs of 200 ahms battery. Recently I had to support my battery with 4 pieces of 150 watts solar panel and a 20 ahms pwm charge controller. My question is: how many 150 watts panel do I need to charge my battery equivalent to Phcn power? 2ndly I have this feeling that an mppt charge controller would have been a better option. Pls gurus in the house shld come to my rescue. |

How good & fast ur solar panels will charge your batteries depends on 1. Panel 2. Most importantly, CHARGE CONTROLLER We use 12v batteries and is low at 11v, some 10v. The same batteries are full at 14v, some 13v. So, bear in mind you are charging your batteries from 11 or 10v to 13 or 14v and not Ov to 12v. On charge controllers, if you like set up 2kw of solar panels for example and use a 30a Mppt charge controller that allows max power of 800w for 24v systems and 400w for 12v systems. Here you can see you are wasting or underutilizing your panels, cos it will take a max power of 800w on detecting a 24v battery system and ignore the rest of the power its getting. So, size your charge controller on the corresponding size of panels you intend installing in your system. 2 Likes |

obimind:Are you running on 12v or 24v, if you are running on 12v, then your battery bank is 400ah,and you need a 40amp charge controller. MPPT is better |

ceejay80s:Yes they are 100ah wet cells car battery, thinking of changing it to a dry cell battery of 200ah each, the battery i said the seller wants to sell is a dry cell tipper batteries, sold @ 15k each. Fairly used batteries are usually cheap in edo state, you can get a 100ah dry cell battery for 7-8k each, these batteries are tested&6 months warranty given to buyers.... |

cool318: I am using the 12v 30amp smart charger now, its 12,500 Mine's working fine, but will advise u to change the head that goes to electricity main source to the 13amp fused one , if u can get a 5-10amp fuse and change the 13amp, it will be better

officialfestus: Car and trailer batteries are different from deep cycle batteries. The Exide battery you posted looks like a 60ah lead acid car battery and the brand new of 75ah lead acid car battery goes for less than 15k the last time I checked (14th May, 2016). The cheapest used 200ah deep cycle that's been posted here was for 30k if my memory serves me well. Please double check label before purchase of the used batteries. |

talk2dre:very efficient, stronger than car battery. I use it for plasma 28inches and go tv and charge like five phones at a time... Will use 2hrs or so then due to depreciation of the battery. Listening to music on portable woover it lasts 4 like 6hrs. The battery got spoilt because I do exhaust the battery b4 the next charge. Add me on what's app make I send you the imag 1 Like |

timifakay:My installer told me that since my inverter is a 1.5 kva and a 400 ahms battery bank, I do not need a 30 ahms charger controller talk more of a 40 ahms charge controller. My question still goes thus: how many 150 watts panel do I need to charge my 400 ahms battery bank at maximum speed. I run on a 12v system. Answers will be appreciated. |
