The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) monetary policy committee (MPC) says the recession of the Nigerian economy is “imminent”, maintaining status quo on the monetary policy rates.

Speaking on the state of the economy, Godwin Emefiele, the central bank governor, said: “The conditions that led to the contractions in the first quarter of 2016 were still largely unresolved. The recession which was signalled in July 2015, now appears imminent.”

Emefiele, who spoke on behalf of the committee, said the previous decisions of the MPC need time to crystallise, hence, there was no need for adjusting rates.

Stating the decision as the least risky option, the committee asked the CBN to work on a flexible exchange rate system, with no mention of devaluation.

The bank said the monetary policy rate (MPR) and cash reserve ratio (CRR) will remain at 12 percent and 22.5 percent respectively. Liquidity ratio was also held at 30 percent.

The MPC asked the bank to adopt a flexible exchange rate system, to allow for inflow of foreign exchange and needed investment.

“The committee noted that it was time to introduce greater flexibility in the foreign exchange market. The committee re-affirmed commitment towards maintenance of price regulation,” Emefiele said.

They gave you the right percentage from what i can see, the annual % for your 500k is 8%, thereby since you are only investing for a period of 1/4 year period that's 91days. Your interest rate will be 2% hence the N10,000 you had left.

MPR has already been increased to 12%, anything other than unchanged today is bad for the economy. I am even leaning more towards unchanged or a return to 11%, 14% is not feasible.

Like I said, its unchanged wink.

I guess the next auction will have low yields because of the recession data; the CBN will probably lower interest rates in response to that data.

I notified you personally and sent countless emails to you and your mods about the blatant victimisation and favouritism exhibited by your mods on this thread yesterday!

www.nairaland.com/3123551/drop-message-nigerdelta-militants

Today I have noticed that the incriminating evidence has been cleaned up by your mod and the other monikers involved are still active! Its a shame that you are letting clicks of mods and their cyber associates decimate the reputation of your blog!

You now have serial offenders openly stating how they can't be banned for bullying or insulting others, but when other monikers retaliate or come to the aid of others, your mods resort to protecting their political associates or offline friends by giving them bans!

I have witnessed this thrice hence why I decided to come to the fore yesterday! The choice is yours! Do what is right or sit back and watch the carnage that inaction would bring to your blog! Good day!

P.s: I won't be suprised if your mod bans me and cleans this statement up too! Its allowed after all!

I guessed as much! But evil will persist if good men do nothing! These are little boys and girls who would not even have the temerity to look you in the eye if they were to be in ones presence! But they come online and start tarnishing this seun guys creation with their tribalistic and political nepotism and unfortunately it is beginning to look as if he Is either in support or unaware!

Anyway I have notified their foolish click! I will haunt and frustrate any of their efforts at free speech! Once they get out of line I will be there to cc their colleague to see if they would also receive a 2 month ban or if they would be given carte blanche to keep spewing their "zombie and ipob sentiments"!

At least now seun can not claim to be UNAWARE of what is going on! No justice no peace!

Not buying your guess bro. Nigeria operates a real interest rate model. This means that at every point in time, the MPR should be higher than the inflation rate in the country. Official sources currently put our inflation rate at 13.78% but in reality, its higher than 20%. This MPR dictates the market rate and will definitely go higher by today's evening hence expect even higher rates in coming weeks.

My prediction of today's MPC outcome;

1. MPR increment from 12% to 14% with a wide band of up to 1000 basis points

2. CRR hike to 50% for both public and private sector funds,

3, Liquidity ratio index of 20%, and

4. Devaluation of the Naira to between 240 and 285. ( or creation of an alternative forex window that allows for two way quotes)
Oops! Wrong wrong speculation everywhere, lol. Its normal. Reality always say something different than theory

Just a handful of mod are worth their name. The vast majority can't even handle the responsibility that comes with the job.

It is time we ask: who moderates the Moderators?

That should have actually been the job of their paymaster! But unfortunately since the time of the 'coogar and babe 3' episode where I was a party to a lot of "behind the scenes activities", I noticed that a lot of them in the most valued sections of nairaland are 'kinsmen of the paymaster'!

So there seems to exist a sort of 'tribal, religious and ethno centric camaraderie' between them for either a job well done in victimising influential monikers or to carry out the wishes of themselves or the paymaster! This cabal is comprised of many old members on nairaland! Those with registered times of "2007, 2009 or as recently as 2013", and a few newer members who are well known butt munchers or mod suck ups or who also follow the paymaster!

That's why you see some of them claiming that people should check their profile to get an understanding of who they are! Or referring to their connections or referencing their schools and departments! Forgetting that even a 50 year old man can register on nairaland TODAY! Or that really OLD MEMBERS can be reborn with a new identity!

Some of them are so petty that even events that occur between monikers they know nothing about forces them to pick sides based on gender bias! This is normal with the female mods in the romance section and is currently permeating the miss nl threads! Where mods ban members of groups who support a popular candidate in order to create an undue advantage for their "ethnic choice!"

It is a sad indictment of the psyche of our nigerian youth that a forum such as this has also been afflicted with the same tribal, religious and corrupt bigotry that has put nigeria in its current pathetic state and has disenfranchised its youth!

We may be 2 lone voices in a desert, but let mr osewa read these words on marble and decide how he wants posterity to judge him and his creation! As for his mods? Well they are all inconsequential in the grand scheme of things! That will always be the "destiny of the replaceable!"

NL now a conglomeration of kinsmen with familial and tribal interests!!!

This may well be the beginning of the end!

I did have an experience where I had a pic-war with a certain e-nuisance . A moderator actually came and removed his PIC, which was just one I posted and left over seven of mine in same thread and page he posted!!!

I later heard whispers that this very super moderator actually declined removing it----like I cared.

But it goes to highlight the emotionally wanting, psychologically bankrupt and mentally challenged folks who man this great platform.

I see the effrontery with which our Indian "friend" ceaselessly breaks NL laws, insults Nigeria and black people in general, and disrespectfully summons NL topmost hierarchy with impudence. And nothing happens!

The best he gets is a 3 day ban! And the same mod gave me 1 month for trolling him.

If not for my love for Nigeria, I would have let it be.

What can't be done physically can be done metaphysically.

The death of an era or empire only need one harmless strike of a match that ignites a host of dry straw just waiting to burn.

The next should be 15th of Jun. so you have to be in your bank on or before 14th to instruct them..

Since you use Diamond Bank you can always get TB from them from Monday - Friday b4 12pm but it is a secondary arrangement So the rate may not be same as the primary auction.

The CBN conducted a T-bill primary auction today offering to raise c. N143bn from investors. The total subscription was estimated at c.N394bn while the apex bank allotted c.N45bn to investors of 90-day bill at a stop rate of 7.99%, N18bn of 182-day bill at 9.05% stop rate and N80bn in 364-day bill at 11.10% .Today’s auction stop rates were lower compared to the previous auction result when 1yr bill was priced at above 12%.
