and which institute did they get this data from !,if today CNN listed 10 most fastest growing economies in africa. would you assume they did their own research findings of a such complex topic !

Basically - all media has an agenda

Its only industry specific trade focused publications (defence web, janes) and "labours of love" (military today etc) that can be trusted

Thieves steal $13mn from Japanese ATMs in just 3 hours
Using forged credit cards containing account details illegally obtained from Standard Bank in South Africa

In a heist reminiscent of the blockbuster film 'Ocean's Eleven,' some 100 thieves managed to steal $12.7 million from ATMs in Japan in just three hours. The incredible feat is believed to be the work of an international crime syndicate.
The thieves worked together to withdraw the huge sum of money in coordinated withdrawals at 1,400 convenience store ATMs throughout Tokyo and 16 other prefectures, police said, as cited by Kyodo News.Using forged credit cards containing account details illegally obtained from Standard Bank in South Africa, around 100 different people are believed to have made a single withdrawal of 100,000 yen (US$913) – the maximum allowed by cash machines – in each of the 14,000 transactions attempted.

The withdraws took just three hours to complete, with the first one made just after 5am on May 15, and the last made just before 8am, The Yomiuri Shimbun reported. All of the ATMs were located at 7-Eleven stores.

No one has been arrested in connection with the heist, and local media reports suggest that the thieves – believed to be part of an international crime syndicate – may no longer be in Japan.

Egypt receives 762 American MRAPs

The first shipment of the American Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles have arrived in Egypt yesterday, the US embassy in Cairo reported.

The vehicles are to be used “to combat terrorism and promote stability in the region.”

A statement issued by the embassy last night stated that a shipment of MRAPs arrived in the port of Alexandria and was delivered to the Egyptian army, whose forces in Sinai are being subjected to bombings that have killed and injured many officials.

Major General Charles Hooper, a senior defence official at the US Embassy in Egypt, said: “The delivery of these MRAPs to Egypt provides a crucial capability needed during these times of regional instability and is part of the continuing strong relationship between the US and Egypt.”

The delivery is part of the Pentagon’s Excess Defence Articles grant programme, according to which the vehicles are delivered free of charge.

maybe for police use awareness is important, and also it can be mounted or unmounted with different weapons by themselves easily.and it's not for battle field use with merely a 7.62mm gun. They will be replaced by bigger guns with sheilds anytime they want

Stop reading the huffington post

Its liberal gutter-press fit for balding white guys in their 40s who are ashamed of their whiteness
they got their data from stokeholm and other organisations.... Its just a matter of comparing the difference in military spending from he previos financial year and noting the %age

For Kenyas example in the financial year 2014-2015 kenya Military budget was $800 and something Million dollars
For 2015-2016 it was 954 as noted in that article as and also quoted from this reliable local artcle

Take 1$ Dolla = 100Kenya Shilings KSH
.... so 100billionKSH =1billion$

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 11- The Government will allocate Sh223.9 billion to the security sector during the 2015-2016 financial year, a Sh27 billion increase from the previous allocation.

Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Henry Rotich while presenting the proposals to the National Assembly on Thursday said Sh112 billion will be channelled to the Ministry of Defence and the National Intelligence Service.

The Interior Ministry will be allocated a massive Sh102.4 billion in a bid build on the security measures already in place which include enhancing mobility and modernising the service.

“We have committed substantial resources to this sector over the last two years including increasing the number of police vehicles by 2,400,” Rotich stated.

“We have also continued to equip our security sector and recruiting over 15,000 security personnel to help secure our country and help combat terrorism and crime.”

To enhance police mobility further, he allocated Sh7.7 billion to leasing of police vehicles, Sh15 billion for military modernisation, Sh10 billion for police service modernisation and Sh1.7 billion for police medical scheme.

The Kenya Defence Forces fighting Al-Shabaab terror group in Somalia serving under AMISOM has been allocated Sh6.4 billion while Sh4.4 billion will go towards fighting poaching
http://www.capitalfm.co.ke/news/2015/06/security-sector-gets-lion-share-in-budget-allocation/

The intelligence Agency recieved about 15Billion Shillings leaving 90 something to the defence ministry, while National police recieved 102Billion Kenyan shillings

Total police+military Budgets over the years
2010/2011 104,617,700,000 1.04Bilion$
2011/2012 125,837,500,000 1.25B$
2012/2013 150,000,000,000 1.5B$
2013/2014 182,000,000,000 1.8B$
2014/2015 196,800,000,000 1.96B$
2015/2016 223,900,000,000 2.23B$

For 2016-2017 Budget wich will be launched this June, The finance ministry pleliminary budget for Defence (both police and military)will rise from 2.23B$ to 2.4$ in which the national police will get $1.4Billion and the Military for the firstime (in our small Kenyan history) will cross the mark to get 1Billion$

Now if you had that kind of data for all countries in the world and had a good data analysis(Data mining) software, yu can easily rank all the contries in terms of percentage increase
