Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti

The organised labour in Ekiti State has denied being part of the sharing of the federal monthly allocation coming to the state, contrary to the claims of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The organised labour also expressed shock over the internally generated revenue figures reeled out by the governor, which overshot and were entirely contrary to that ever declared by the Accountant General at any of their meetings.

In a press release issued after an emergency meeting of the the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and Joint Negotiating Council in Ado Ekiti, the labour denied reaching an agreement with government to pay only net salary.

According to labour, the Accountant General’s figures ranged between only N150m and N200m, except that of N268m for April, the highest so far declared by him.

These, they said, were against N267m for September 2015; N252m for October 2015; N195m for November 2015; N181m for December 2015, as well as N389m, N381m, and N302m, respectively declared by the governor for January, February and March.

Accusing the governor of blackmailing the unions to gain public sympathy, the labour leaders said the meeting is only “a briefing” and not “a cash allocation meeting.”

They added that suggestions made by them at the meetings had never been accepted by the governor.

“So, the idea of labour leaders sharing monthly cash allocation and the governor approving does not arise. There has never been any advice or suggestion given to government by the organised labour at this forum that has ever been taken,” the unions said.

The organised labour on Thursday began an indefinite strike to press home the demand for the outstanding five months salaries of workers among other issues.

But reacting, the governor on Friday said the state government will pay salaries only to workers not on strike from the little monthly allocation that came from Abuja.

However, the labour urged workers to discountenance the threat by the Head of Service, Dr Olugbenga Faseluka, that senior workers should resume work on Tuesday or face the dire consequences of their actions.

“The ongoing strike is not an ego trip or politically motivated, but about the rights of workers and pensioners who are dying daily out of hunger and frustration.

“It should be noted that Labour has neither suspended nor called off the ongoing industrial action in the state, hence we are using this medium to implore the entire workers of all categories in all sectors to stay at home and observe the strike action until the leadership of organised Labour gives further directives.”

It's good that labour has clarified this point. Fayose is such a terrible liar. Ekiti people will eventually stone him out of government house last last.

Fayose has been a liar all along. He has continued to lie about the savings from what Fayemi used to pay out to thousands of Adult citizens monthly and the monthly salary of several Youth empowerment schemes (ranging from environmental vanguards to Traffic management wardens). I wonder how he managed the bailout he got. In Feb 2016, Ekiti got N1.2b from FAAC while Osun got just N6m. Today we can see the difference between the two states. Shameful that the same Fayose joined Aregbesola in inspecting a project @ Gbongan.

Ekiti is in big BS!

I ask, what has Ayodele Peter Fayose achieved in office these past 18 months apart from bringing disgrace to Ekiti indigenes with his constant, uncouth and most times over the roof criticism of the president? At least we know Osun inability to once pay salaries stems from the ambitious(and sometimes extravagant projects and programmes of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola). What then has he been using allocations from the federation account and IGR for? Instead of thinking of ways to increase the IGR of his state, all he thinks about is the next ewa agoyin joint to visit. Well, Ekiti people, u brought this on yourself by preferring a tout to an educated mind whose visionary projects were too "ambitious" for you.

HE IS JUST A SMART DUM.B AS.. THAT RIDES ON THE WEAKNESS OF GULLIBLE EKITI CITIZENS AND the likes. YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF MY STATE GOVERNOR BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT SMART ?

While we were growing up, my dad had and managed hundreds of hectares of land for farming. This comprises in thousands of trees, cocoa, palm trees, pinneaples, kolanuts, coffees, maize, corns, thousands of orange stands that we used to buy its grafting plant from kwara then and many other valuable veggies. He sold them in big money and shared them within the extended family. Even our own palm oil factory was big, employed several people. This is how many familes operate in Ekiti then. I dont know of now. Now nigerians are crying of hunger and lack of food, but he cant see the opportunity. Who used to buy fulani tomato before? while we have our own specie better than theirs?. How tomato scarce for north, problem of south west, baffles me? Aboki making money from thin air? and you want to tell me our governor and politicians can survive without oil? Very shameful. I heard that there are some farmers in ondo villages made cool money in tomato bussiness last month.
These are the crops that are short and long term , money generating bussiness that can empower our people and youths easily. The land is there. The weather is suppotive. This can yield millions of dollars yearly if it is well structured. It is saddening that he lacks this. He should go and learn from obiano and probably ambo. Thats why i dont want to blame all these NDA forcing every governor to generate their own resouces, BUT will these veil , lazy govnrs have mental capability to do that? Iam ashamed of my state.

His state may not be rich enough to settle all their obligations. But he is a good man.

Ekiti is very poor so i laugh at making IGR in Ekiti. A hungry man will fight you to death if you disturb him in his small kiosk for tax.

Fayose is Evil, he brainwashed the people during his campaign that he will rescue Ekitis from elites as if it's a bad thing to be an elite. I'm pissed of whenever I see Fayose criticizing Buhari, this yeye Fayose's SPOTLESS HOTEL is making use of government house electricity. He criticized Fayemi for building government house and he went ahead to build Aduni olayinka civic centre. His current project in Ado is patching of roads and clearing of gutters. (Local govt projects). On the issue of IGR, I will soon publish it. Fayose is deceiving people with paper transparency, and that's the biggest scam which most Ekitis are not aware of,but thank God the spell don dey cast for Labour eye Fayose is 19
