Bisoye82: My exact thoughts, please let her go on one trip before birth to avoid stories that touch...if she ends up being turned back, the flight ticket would end up as a waste so why not invest in this one trip to avoid issues later. She could even use the opportunity to visit/call hospitals and OB/GYN |

LadyGuinivere: @ladyG, yes but I had applied some years ago to the UK and they didn't give me, I currently work in HR with a small firm that pays 200k monthly and I don't have a UK visa or permit. this is my first baby hence the reason MIL is insisting we do yankee and she and my hubby can come as she plans to be there around my due date. I wanted to go and give birth and return here and then start processing the UK right to family life visa and that takes forever so now what do you advise cos I really want to submit the application but wanna do it right this time. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by LadyGuinivere: 4:37pm On May 31, 2016 |
EvaMD:Well, obviously u can't apply from the UK. I can't believe I'm the one giving this advice sha.Sometyms Abuja allows applicants to enter with their spouse. Can your husband come back? My reason being that the last refusal was prolly on the issue of ties. Maybe the VO didn't jus see your ties to Naija from the scenario u painted. But if he can't, its just to go with their data page, visa and every supporting docx u can think of or imagine. And be very clear that u are there for childbirth. Don't go saying 'vacation and childbirth' God's grace. @Neks na wa o! U just go hide! Shuooo! How una dey? Kisses to umu oma gi |

So have been following this thread closely since January, now it's my turn to start giving back! Thanks to @Happytbaby for answering my 'overflogged' question(before I started reading back),to everyone else on this thread God bless you,I almost misrepresented based on people's advice, glad I took time to visit and read this thread. I had my visa interview today in Lagos and was approved....My transcript: VO: pass me your passport please(which I did) VO: so why are going to the US ME: vacation and to have my baby VO: is this your first ME: yes it is VO: where in US are you heading ME: Houston Texas VO: why Texas ME: coz I got good hospital/price based on reviews I have heard and read and I got a couple of friends schooling in Tx too VO: oh good (smiling ) are you staying with anyone or lodging ME: Lodging VO: what do you do for work ME: I work at......as......i also own a...... and...... business VO: what does your husband do for work ME: He own .....company that is into ..... and ..... VO: any documents from the hospital and account work? ME: yes (hands over correspondence, budget sheet and account statements) while she is going through the statement am explaining: that account has the money for the trip which we have saved in there, that is mine, showing my monthly income, those are husband's,as he's the sponsor VO: looks up as says good, when is the baby due? ME: ....October according to scan VO: are you going alone? ME: yes, hopefully hubby will join me before the baby comes VO: (hands me back my docs and gives me the white paper) make sure u pay ur bills and travels with all the documents you have here.... ME: thank you very much NOTE am 5months and my tummy is invisible, today I had to wear something tight coz I wanted to show by force,so having a small tummy is no excuse to lie about your pregnancy. Now unto ticket,PTA and other matters 34 Likes 1 Share |

EvaMD I'm curious as to why you want to birth in the US? If your reasons are just the healthcare you would receive then no problems, but if you have your eyes on the blue passport, I suggest you just let it go, your child by birth would be a British citizen regardless of place of birth, (cos of paternity). And with the trend these days at the US embassy, you may be asked why not birth in the UK where you have family ties n all. And don't be carried away by the trends I would take the red passport over the blue anyway...... Just my thoughts all the best in your quest dearie. Be safe. 4 Likes |

Querylady24: Thanks Querylady24. Also called them and have been transferred to Lufthansa. Very furious @ United Lagos customer service who said it wasnt possible with an "i dont care attitude".For all those in similar circumstances, please dont bother with United Lagos customer services, just call the US United customer service directly and get quick resolution. |

cindermum:I would advise not to get it. My uncle also pestered me about it but i insisted its still like medicaid and would jeopardise my future application. Its called foodstamps/WIC(??), and like medicaid, its for low income earners in the US. They are given the stamps weekly(?) and they take it to the store to get milk, fruits, vegetables and sorts for their little children. I cannot ultimately say whether it is recorded and the embassy has access to its records, but i wouldn't be the scape goat to find out (could be the hard way). 7 Likes |

EvaMD: MadameU: You would definitely be asked why you want to birth in the US and not the UK where your husband is a citizen of, afterall like madameU said, your child is a UK citizen regardless of wherever he is born. So, the greatest issue here is how to convince the VO that u are truly just going to birth. You may give it a trial. Guess what? Mercy and Favour could just speak for you. 4 Likes |

customised87:Better health care of course compared to Nigeria if the UK will not open her doors to her just yet. She can't varnish herself into the UK where she would have birthed at little or no cost as it is now! Paying for same in the US is their decision because of the aforementioned. So? 2 Likes |
