Avengers or no Avenger . If your environment is underdeveloped or your people are marginalised,is not a sufficient reason for you to further cause more damage to your environment . No city in Nigeria is 100% developed . There are slums everywhere. Let us abandone sentiments.

Destroying their region, destabilizing Nigeria economy. And when will attention shift from oil? Year 9999?
Saintbonnie:
But it's still their region they're destroying. They would wish they never did that the day attention shifts from oil.

OGA you are one of those that contribute to the problem of Nigeria with your rubbish hate and post, what you know how to do best is promote hate why not use that time and anergy to contribute positively to your present merriment let me rearrange your point

LAGOS development was not from your so called oil money just use google to look a throwback pic of Lagos
before the discovery of oil it was the most developed city in Nigeria, and besides without allocation Lagos can survive because its the center of booming business since the era of the colonial masters

SECONDLY why not post city pics of calabar, akwa ibom, Port Harcourt and so on why posting the slum of this region now let me show you the slum of Lagos and Abuja

BELOW ARE SLUM OF LAGOS AND ABUJA

so stop your nonsense and shut-up if you have noting meaningful to contribute

neglected i hear you say? you need to check your facts very carefully. do you know the benefits that this part of the country enjoys. do you know what derivation is? there is amnesty programs, ministry of niger delta, direct oil companies grants and endless advantages.

lets be honest if they spend everything nigeria earns on that part of the country it will still remain the same.

So what should they do; fold their arms and watch the staus quo remain the same?

Sometimes violence draws attention to neglect.

Shey we read here say PM go visit Ogoni land soon?

E better address Niger Delta needs of development or else, crush Niger Delta Avengers, three more militant groups go emerge after dem.

Which neglect?
As many people have rightly pointed out, oil producing states receive a larger allocation than non-oil producing states i.e. they are collecting extra, what have they done and are they doing with the money, isn't that money meant to be used to develop the region?

Nnamdi Emmanuel:

On June 28 2007, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan placed his life on the line, by travelling to Okerenko, visiting the notorious Camp five, where he held a seven hours meeting with all the leaders of the militant camps in the Niger Delta. He made the trip without a single security detail. The whole world stood still. For seven hours he was incommunicado. Global leaders feared the worst. He emerged from the creeks later, shaken but resolute. He came out of those creeks with a commitment from the militants and the Niger Delta disarmament program was borne. Normalcy returned in the region. The bloodletting ceased. Oil production tripled and the government could breath again. In 2012, the leadership of Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad aka Boko Haram named General Buhari as the number one mediator they will listen to for peace to reign in the north east. The spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, who doubles as the Second-in-Comma nd (Amir) to their leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau, made the group’s intention known in a tele-conference with journalists in Maiduguri. General Buhari declined the offer.

If Buhari truly loves this country, he would have taken that offer. But NO. That would have been a victory for the Jonathan government . So he declined the offer, rather promising to end the insurgency when he becomes President. Does this man deserve our vote? I don't think so. If we have to elect you as President before you assist the government in quelling an insurrection in your region, who will help us quell the crises if it erupts in other region. Be wise. Stick with facts. A vote for Buhari is a cowering to the dictates of terror. A vote for Buhari is a submission to hand over your mandate by the dictates of guns and blood. Vote President Jonathan . We will surely win the war against terror and secure our future. God bless Nigeria

I think that below is a better DATED reference to Jonathan's visit to the Creeks in 2007 as VP =>

Niger Delta: Life in the Creeks
Monday, July 21, 2008
- By MURPHY GANAGANA, Abuja

Curiously, Government Ekpompolo a.k.a Tom Polo, who is the leader of Camp 5, has kept government and security top shots in suspense with his mode of operation. And his creed seems to be less talk and more action. Described as a focused, principled and courageous warlord, Ekpompolo is reputed to have four major camps, and his home is a Mecca of sorts for politicians as well as top government officials including some state governors in the Niger Delta. In fact, as part of the Federal Government’s search for peace in the troubled region, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan had also visited Camp 5 without any security detail, a move which ruffled feathers in military circles. And General L.P Ngubane, immediate past commander of the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta did not mince words in expressing his dismay.

“It is disconcerting that Camp 5 has become a pilgrim centre for some important politicians, especially those from the Niger Delta. These constant visitations to a known criminal legalizes the activities of the militants, embolden and empower them financially and emotionally. For example, the Governors of Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta states at various times after their inauguration, visited Camp 5. Recently, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria also visited Camp 5 on June 28, 2007 without security details accompanying him just because the militants said so.”, he wrote in a memo reference TFRH/25/G, addressed to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Owoye Azazi.

Not that I support the relegation of NigerDelta to the background but if we had nobody that has ruled Nigeria that's from there(I mean from there, the main Place),I would have blamed the north and the West but there was a President of Nigeria from the NigerDelta that ruled for SIX whole years-who then are our real enemies?

You don't argue that the time was too short but what was even started? How long does it take to build a hospital,School,Road and a skyscraper ?

Don't blame the north and the west for our predicaments.Even the Governors that are from here, what level of development have they initiated? You can steal but put small thing on ground and cart the rest-No matter what happens,If the your successor comes and then put small too from where you stopped and steals the rest.Little things would be accumulating on the ground waiting for generations of looters to put small and loot the rest.In that sense we make progress in seasonal And clustered developments,Just like River State-

To answer the question I believe the picture doesn't represent true reason why?

It is more of self interest.

Another point to add to others have read here is that you can get such slump picture in lagos and abuja and you can get beautiful pictures like that of lagos and abuja in delta.

Those areas receive more allocations every year. What did their leaders do with it.

Am rather confuse at this juncture o. In this quagmire who should be blamed?FG,State Govt or individuals..Cos those construction and sky scrappers in Lagos pictures isnt FG building or whatever. I think everyone should start asking the right questions here. Is the state not getting its allocation from oil proceeds or FG hasn't been playing their part. The lastime I checked a Bayelsan was the president of Nigeria and nobody ask these questions then. I think the leaders in those area are full of greed. They enjoy the proceeds alone and abandon their own ppl..just sharing my thoughts tho

Nonsense. Lets be reasonable for once and put sentiments a side. Compare it with porthacourt, uyo, ekot, bonny and brass not with that. Besides, Lagos generally was not built with oil money. Lagos was built with investment (both locals and internationally), being former capital.Abuja, i may agree to some extent but I learnt that asari dokubo spent billion of dollars to build university in bennin republic and he has nationality of the country. That would have gone a long way in ND.

Now see

The top major oil companies have their HQ in Lagos. It is often said that most people who live in lekki Ajah are work in these organizations or related organizations. Note also that most of the so called oil and gas companies really do business with this major guys. In fact, that's what happens. Work for the major players.

Therefore, most of the so called oil and gas companies are there because of the big guys.

If these big players have very little or no presence in Lagos, the others will not be there. It wwill impact on the population, related business, real estate etc worse is if they don't have to use the port. Now think aboabout it.

Having said that, Lagos on isn't own is a major hub and has everything to make it a great city. With or without oil and gas

But dismissing the impactimpact of oil and gas in the development of Lagos is As wong. Not forgetting the FG investment in Lagos which is from petrol-dollar.

As
