Fulani Herdsmen Invade Igbongun, Benue, Kill 15 by ericuzor(m): 2:11pm On Jun 01, 2016
Again, suspected Fulani herdsmen on Monday invaded Igbongun community in Tsaav Ward of Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, killing five people.
Only last Sunday, the herdsmen struck in Tse Wankyor in the same Tsaav Ward and killed 10 and injured several others.
Yesterday’s incident brings the death toll from the two attacks to 15.
A source told The AUTHORITY that the armed herders numbering over 50 invaded the community through the neighbouring Kente settlement in Taraba State at 11pm on Monday and unleashed terror on the people with their sophisticated weapons.
He claimed that six motorcycles were carted away by the rampaging herdsmen.
The District Head of Tsaav, His Royal Highness (HRH) Joseph Ivuen, told The AUTHORITY that the attack was unwarranted because they have never had issues with the Fulani cattle rearers.

The monarch said that the community had been deserted for fear of further attacks and called on the Federal Government to provide a lasting solution to the continued invasion of Benue villages by the herdsmen.
The Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Hon. Simon Kachina, who confirmed the attacks, said that they were strange because the affected communities never had issues with the herdsmen and charged the authorities to intensify efforts towards ending such barbaric acts.
The council boss who gave the names of victims whose bodies had been recovered as Keryum Mku, Terkura Ajo and Terhemba Gwa, added that the search for others had continued.
Kachina said: “It is most unfortunate and the most worrisome aspect of these attacks lies in the fact that they are normally carried out during cropping season and for a local government whose economic mainstay is farming, the continued sacking of our people will not augur well for our economic survival. I am appealing especially to the Federal Government to put in efforts that will curtail the barbaric acts of these headsmen.”
The member representing Ukum, Logo and Katsina/Ala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Emmanuel Udende, said that a public hearing into the continued attacks on Benue communities by the herdsmen had begun at the Lower House.
Through his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Jerry Iorngaem, who was at the ravaged community, the lawmaker urged his constituents not to resort to self-help.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu, confirmed the attacks.

Am not surprise not seeing Army or Police shooting the attackers, rather going to shoot peaceful protesters... Nigeria is by force marriage.

Protecting oil facilities is more important than protecting lives. Oil and cows holds more value than human life in this present stage.

My God. shocked Do we have any benue politician or indigene with a brain to force abuja to bring a stop to this nonsense?
This is why i will never support the Nigerian govt desire for more niger-delta oil, because they absolutely don't deserve it. What kind of change are you trying to sell when a significant percentage of the people would probably be dead already from a combination of poverty, hunger, bokoharam, fulani herdsmen and bloodthirsty backward security forces?.
A dog in the US has more intrinsic value than a Nigerian in Nigeria. What a sad country.

Meanwhile some will be busy crying about how the government is being buffeted by many things beyond their control. Foolish Arase will not order disarmament here o! May the souls of those killed rest in peace.

omenka:
The government is being buffeted from all sides with problems that pose greater threats to Nigeria than Saraki.

Could this be one of the problems beyond Saraki? The government is stretched too thin perhaps in its quiet efforts expended towards this situation?

Why is this particular issue not getting required publicity and pragmatic action? Just don't get it! These guys are now operating with unprecedented impunity and audacity.

The Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom cameup with amnesty only to collect weapons from his own people leaving the herdsmen with their own. Fight is not seperated on one side.
Arm the people to defend themselves, since the government cannot do it....

No region should hold Nigeria hostage, we are Nigerians and we are all equal

Fulani herdsmen again!!??

PMB should tackle this Fulani issue the way he's doing to NDA........I mean, he should deploy soldiers and machineries to affected places(especially Enugu and Benue) and they should be based there permanently, till they curb the problem.

This is so so disheartening I must confess

The federal government should do all in its possible best to protect the lives of its citizens and where it's not able to should inform the masses so that we'll look for alternative means of protecting ourselves

Omenka and the rest of you who get orgasms from defending Buhari and his onslaught on the SS /SE pls come in and let ur voice be heard.
The next thing we would hear from you is that they're libyans, simply because Bubu says so. Only god knows how often you suck his c.ock in the dream which makes you sell ur conscience for less than a coin.
In the country I hail from, we recognize the right to self determination.

Ever since B00hari got it.

Nigeria Has been nose diving.

Companies are leaving.

The common man is suffering.

Check out how bad things have become under B00hari

Well all Nigerians have themselves to blame.

Had you read the bible, you'd have seen the warning about "CHANGE"

Proverbs 24
21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

These Fulani Herdsmen that B00hari will never condemn or arrest are on a jihad.
Notice not one Northerner has condemned them.
They cannot be arrested.

If you try fighting them, you yourself get arrested and the fulani herdsmen go free.
Remember the farmers that rose up against them, they were arrested for fighting back.
While the fulani people are free to rape & murder

Well B00hari & Lai are laughing but the common Nigerian isn't

Enjoy your change Nigerians angry
