[quote author=suyamasta post=46170383] This can be done in a targetted manner! the cost of printing money is lesser than the value of money, the only problem is the fear of inflation! For example the government can print 1 trillion naira and specifically direct that amount towards payment of salaries and loans to productive sectors! in so doing money is paid for work done! thereby stimulating productivity! So its a good economic practice if properly done! US did something similar and the ECB is doing something similar as well! So if Baba Emefiele and co can do something similar with an excellent approach then unemployment can be drastically reduced![/you are worst than the op economically,in short since you can read try simple search into google qualities that anything should passed before being qualified to served as money, you will find out that most of them would be loss. |

Too much money =inflation. Too little money= deflation. Babangida did print a lot of money in the past, which ruined naija economy, however money can be printed if they can manage it well, for the case of Nigeria where everything is imported, the cost of printing naira could be more expensive than the value of naira,so borrowing could be cheaper in some cases. |

Money must be relatively scarce. If not scarce, inflation will set in. |

That is exactly what United states is doin...but they seem to be the only country with such capacity because there currency is the world business currency. US economy owe 19 trillion dollar convert that to naira, yet their bank lending rate and inflation is below 5%... who they owe the $19 trillion? na wayo... 1 Like |

mrvitalis: Will you buy the raw materials for production with your naira or with the supplier's money? That's the trick. Government uses local money to distribute goods and services. In Nigeria 90% of everything is imported. We can't buy in naira but dollars. When it gets here we buy in naira which government has to source for dollars to import more. So, if Nigeria prints money and distributes to everyone, two much naira will be chasing too few goods and the economy will collapse due to inflation. Government therefore rations goods and services by printing fewer naira. |

bookface: The answer is no only if the 10 people keep the 10 billion in their bedrooms and not spend it. So long as they end up spending the money on goods and services, the money in circulation will increase, and you would have a case of too much money chasing few goods which causes inflation, if there's no corresponding increase in the supply of goods and services. 1 Like |

Re: Why Can't A Country Just Keep Printing Money And Become Rich by oglalasioux(m): 5:45pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
mrvitalis: Your idea is good but can't work in reality. What is the money you spend everyday? It's just a promissory note. It means you are promising to pay because the value of the paper money is at the Central Bank in gold. The Central Bank can only print money worth the gold it has. What if we all demand our naira worth of gold (the real money) and the central bank actually has less than what is in circulation? That's exactly what happened to USA during the Bush administration. The USA actually has more paper money than the gold at Fort Knox. China (which supposedly owns much of the gold) decided to keep quiet because it would have practically been the end of the world. Research more about money and you'll be the first to panic if government wants to distribute money to everyone without the goods and services to back it up. |

Consider the case of the United States. Let’s suppose the United States decides to increase the money supply by mailing every man, woman, and child an envelope full of money. What would people do with that money? Some of that money will be saved, some might go toward paying off debt like mortgages and credit cards, but most of it will be spent. I know the first thing I’d do is go down to Walmart and buy an Xbox or PlayStation 2 (if you have an opinion of which I should buy e-mail me by using the feedback form). http://economics.about.com/cs/money/a/print_money.htm
http://www.economicshelp.org/blog/634/economics/the-problem-with-printing-money/ In the days of Idi Amin, Uganda took the risk of printing new money to bail that country’s economy out of the doldrums. The exercise backfired so catastrophically, it has taken Museveni over two decades to right the disastrous consequences. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/09/printing-more-money-can-backfire/ Everyone in Zimbabwe during its hyperinflation were under severe pressure unlike anything they had ever experienced. The government had increasingly turned to rampant money printing as a funding alternative and as this newly printed money made its way into the markets prices began to rapidly rise. http://www.moneyweb.co.za/uncategorized/the-zimbabwe-lesson-dont-print-money/ 1 Like 1 Share |

I was banned for till tommorrow i'm suprised i'm off the hook. Thanks @ Truth234 Alot of people quote text principles as absolutes... Chinese had been printing currencies well into 10years ago to shock their economy, assets purchase etc.an like i stated earlier too many folks are confusing it...Physical money is a promise not an actuval value. The real value is resource, potential and productivity, this means if you have your name on your dad's will and he died and the will would be read and wealth shared in a month's time..Within now and then you can go and take loan..equivalent to the total sum of the share of this will... So yes Nigeria can print money and back it up... to very high amounts How do we do this ? Example : The Niger Delta has a potential of 76 Trillion Cubic feet in gas reserves i explained this tentaively earlier this year to people. Now Bulgaria Ukraine all have refused Russia to construct pipes for more gas delivery into EU,Why can't be capitalise on it...Don't forget In order not to upset Russia countries like U.A.E told Germany they won't be a sub to Russia Simple 76 Trillion feet extraction over 100 years equivalent a sum....negotiate a buy deal from Germany ( Germany came to Nigeria during OBJ's era 0ver and over in search of a deal for our gas supplies which is yet to be enacted ) using this deal alone in the media is actual money because like i said earlier.money is promisory value and not the note...if you do this the nation has 1.good will 1.attention to drive in more investors 3. immediate cash to deal with current challenges 2. Countries like Ghana Benin up to Ivory Coast need Gas for power production which we are flaring erroneously.capture the domestic ECOWAS region in terms of GAS supply balance the $3bn per month deficit the country is currently experiencing with foreign exchange..if the pressure from FOREX is limited and brought down by productivity my brother print money....inject the money thru QQE alot of people think central banks don't print money na lie.... Countries do but they say one thing on TV and then go home and print... ..Did you guys not hear several times while we were growing up that some people printed monies but on the way here was intercepted by the Customs, now would you bet for one stopped 100 came into the country ? Did it kill the country. Economics is two ways the rules are not meant to keep you out but intelligently broken.. Japan USA I want to know a major country that hasn't been printing country of late.... You can print money ( or call it borrow money ) to the tune of your power to repay and inject it rather than into individual but institution but in a country where we hardly have any working mega institute other than political parties... abeg too much English that's why they say Nigeri run a casion economy. if i were the president i would focus on this rather than pursue tompolo I did my projections 100,000 hectares of land productivity is enough to produce about 20B monthly Add Ocean to it as uncle Kimi kept mentioning Ocean economy and when we that understood him supported him we were thrown stones. Just land and water resources alone of the size of 100,000hectares gives 20b monthly imagine how much our potential would be if we embraced productivity. By the way to sum my post up the commissiooner for Agriculture iin Kwara earlier this year released an info that shocked me.He said Kwara had over 1.1Million hectares of farmland which means if 1million hectares is used productively we can get a potential return of 20b x 100 = 2Trillion Monthly.. Any i just babling okay let me break it down further Land for agric Agric for : 1. FOOD 2. MEDICINE 3. CHEMICALS 4. WOOD 5. TEXTILES from slik to linen to cotton to polyester Nigeria embrace resource control and stop killing yourself...Nigeria tell yourselves the truth and leave minting money alone... 3 Likes |
