Hello House,
I am a recent graduate of Political Science and I'm thinking of getting an MSc in a choice school in the USA. However, I don't really know much about USA grad schools and how they function. Please, i'd like suggestions of schools that offer MSc program in Political science or international relations around New Jersey or Philadelphia that are cheap and affordable and have high acceptance rate especially for internationalstudents. More so , I want a research based masters but I'm confused about the choice of research area. My undergraduate project was on a public policy related topic. Please, help me out as I plan to begin my application of Spring ASAP. By the way, I don't plan on writing GRE so I need schools that don't require GRE as I'd still write IELTS and the cost might be too high for me. PLEASE HELP A BROTHER!! |

F1 Visa Experience
Yesterday evening, I traveled from Ibadan to Aja to stay with an aunt who would take me to the embassy. The night was very bad and mosquitoes really fought with me a lot but I was dogged. At 2am, I had a dream where I saw myself during the interview. see the transcript below;
Dream Transcript;; VO; Good Morning Me; Morning VO; why william and mary? me; because its a very good school vo; am afraid i can't(i cut in) me; you cant sekini? (i shouted ni o) everyone; slap for my cheeks (pa)....... so i woke up to see that i was actually killing the mosquitoes on my face.
so i said may God forbid bad thing. At 7am, i went to have my bath rehearsing an anticipated question with the toilet mirror. See Below;
Hypothetical Transcript; VO; why william and mary me: i chose the college of william and mary because of the particular nature of my research work which is on the archaeology of defensive ditches in Southwestern nigeria having seen that the Anthropology department at william and mary has a long history of african archaeology and focuses more on the defensive ditches in ghana, senegal and republic of benin. so i believe the institution aside being a public ivy, has in its disposal faculty members who are well equiped to supervise my doctoral work on nigeria's defensive ditches. VO; good. how did you get o know bot the school me; through a professor of history at the university. he was in nigeria last year to study the people of ile-ife so he invited me because he needed an archaeologist. it was this time that he suggested that i apply to the anthropology dept at william and mary. VO; great. whats your plan after the completion of your program; me; my plan is to come back to nigeria and set the pace for the archaeology of defensive ditches by training the next generation of archaeologists in nigeria. i belief strongly that my input would be good for the three nigeria universities where archaeology is being taught considering the fact that we do not have too many personel who would study our ancient ruins. VO; okay i will approve your visa...... blablabla.
My Profile
GRE;YES TOEFL;YES DEGREE AT HAND ; BSC ARCH (HONS) DEGREE SOUGHT;MA/PHD SCHOOL ATTENDED;UI COURSE;ARCHAEOLOGY TRAVEL EXPERIENCE;LOCAL TRAVEL-OGUN,OSUN,OYO AND LAGOS (LOL)
SO at 10;30am, i got to the embassy for real. Thanks to the steps i read here. i understood evrything about the queue. it was a great mental template. i decided to haVe a chit chat with the brother next to me who would be going to North Carolina university. the pressure and stress disappeared at this juncture and i felt very free-both of us tho.
At exactly 11am i got to the front of this oyinbo man and here goes the real transcript;
Real Transcript (ABOUT 40 SECONDS);

sirRiddy: Hi. You have impressive test scores. What is the breakdown and what is your AWA score? I am sorry you will likely not get good suggestions here if you come empty handed. You need to look for some schools yourself, come back and people can discuss your choices with you and maybe suggest others. Look out for state/public universities as they usually offer assistantships(funding) more. Also, chose states that have low cost of living too. Most importantly, look out for good programs. These sites might be useful: 1. msinus.com 2. gradcafe 3. usnews.com 4. quora.com Good luck. Do not hesitate to ask further questions. tanks bro. I will do dat.
