TECNO released its first smartphone powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow called the TECNO W4. They join other leading phone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and Huawei to produce mobile devices that are driven by the latest Android OS the Marshmallow, which was first released on the Google Nexus series.


Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The TECNO W4 is a beautiful low budget smartphone that gives the high-end phones out there a good fight. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings speed, improved user experience and better intelligence to the TECNO W4. Several features of the Marshmallow are commendable but worthy of note are the Now on Tap feature, which reads the content of any screen on your phone and delivers information that might be relevant to keywords on your screen to you thereby saving you the extra hassle of carrying out contextual information search. The Doze Mode and App Standby features are intelligent battery management features that are able to recognize when your phone isn’t in use like when it’s lying on a table for a while and enters hibernation on its own. Whereas other devices can lose an average of 15-25 percent of battery life overnight, the Marshmallow can reduce that to between 3-5 percent thus taking your standby time to nearly two weeks in the process. The optimized Voice Search, App Permission and App Drawer are also notable features of the Marshmallow that you can benefit from when using the TECNO W4.

Design

Though the Android 6.0 Marshmallow seems like the most prominent thing on the TECNO W4 however, the phone still boasts of some essential features, which differentiate it from the other Marshmallow powered devices in the market. It is beautifully designed and has a metallic appearance that is not bad at all for a low budget phone. The phone is quite slim and not weighty at all. It’s 5.0’’ HD IPS touch screen makes it suitable for gaming and watching videos.

Battery

Furthermore, the TECNO W4 comes with a 2500mAh non-detachable battery, which is strong enough to keep phone active for several hours regardless of your activities. Though a couple of people still do not fancy the idea of non-detachable batteries for a phone with a detachable phone case however, TECNO is doing their best to gently rub it in as they keep releasing devices with this type of structure.


Camera & Beautification Effects

Recent releases and rumors of coming devices show that TECNO is beginning to pay a lot of attention on the camera and picture qualities of their phones. The TECNO W4 comes with a 2MP front and 8MP rear camera which both have an extended 20º camera breadth. These cameras can capture more smiles in a single picture without people having to choke themselves up in order to be seen. Also, the phone camera is easily accessible via a quick pane when the phone is locked. To give you more picture options, the TECNO W4 comes with a pre-installed Beautification Effect feature which makes it easy for you to experiment with your looks and upload already-made pictures directly to your Social Media accounts without having to use a third-party app to edit your pictures


The HiOS
As is common with most TECNO phones, the TECNO W4 is a dual micro SIM phone. It comes with a 16GB ROM, 1GB RAM, 1.3GHz processor speed and a 32GB expandable memory. It also comes with an exclusive TECNO user interface called the HiOS. The HiOS is TECNO’s way of ensuring that the end users get a unique feel of their devices just like Samsung does with the Touchwiz, HTC with the Sense, LG the UX and Huawei with the Emotion UI. The presence of the HiOS on the TECNO W4 adds color and customizing options to the device. It helps you change your music player skin, device fonts & themes and control the way apps uses your phone data.



The TECNO W4 is a device that justifies it price and for a low budget phone, it makes great sense. If you are not a TECNO fan, there might be very little that I can do to get you to like this phone other than to tell you to simply try it out first for a few days and who knows, you might be a fan afterwards.
