The rich continued getting reacher because they often spend like the poor while the poor continued living in poverty because they spend their little resources as if they are richer than they are!

Most times, poverty is an attitude cum mindset, if you want to get out of it, change the duo!

2% of 170 million Nigerians = (2×170,000,000)/100= 3,400,000 people.

No. It's actually 2% of the total number of Nigerian Depositors.

Your calculation is very wrong. You need to consider that some of these account holders are corporate entities and in law, corporate entities are treated as legal individual. Also, note that an individual can have more than two corporate entities. Hence, you need to further discount the calculation and I can assume that the number of individuals, that is actual living people, is less than a million.

To the point raised in the topic, this should not be news to any one. Even in the developed world, 5percent controls virtually everything owned in a country including resources in the money and capital market.

2 % is over 3 million people. Not such a low number in actual terms.

What is even the percentage of Nigerians that own bank accounts in the first place. 70 million accounts in a country where most account holders have 3 bank accounts should tell you that 70 percent of the population don't even operate a bank account in the first place.

Pareto principle talks abt 80/20 rule Alhaji Umar is talking abt 98/2 percent rule, which is rather alarming. And we know those set of people that make up the 2 percent. There is no such thing as commonwealth in Nigeria.

Karl max predicted this long time ago... these 2% are mostly politicians. Instead of them to embrace policies that will encourage wealth circulation, they keep saving it for their unborn generation. They have forgotten that a bad economy cannot preserve wealth.

No, sir. It's 2% of 70,000,000 depositors/bank account holders. i.e. 2/100 * (70,000,000) = 1,400,000, which is a paltry 0.82% of the total population.

You try but may not be fully correct. Even my Baba, an elderly man, has several accounts. Most of the accounts might even belong to same people. At the end maybe only 10 to 20m people own those 70m accounts. grin cheesy

There are Nigerians who run legitimate businesses in this country and control more money than even those politicians you think. It's sad that a few people have more money than the majority of the population, but there's nothing you can do about it except to figure out how to join the rich. More Nigerians should think outside the box and embrace entrepreneurship.

My opinion.
without basic capital? There also has to be a starting capital.now how possible is that when folks are struggling to get by
