If this new policy stands, its going to be disastrous/favourable.

1Uniben and other top fed varsities will just push their general cut off mark to 250 regardless of the course you're going for, then later have departmental cut off marks like 260, 270 depending on hw competitive the course you applied for is.. This wont go down well with a lot of us oo.. Hw many even scored up to 250?

2 Uniben can choose to maintain 200 as a GENERAL cut off mark, and later have departmental cut off. This could be the only favourable option.

3 Many aspirants that were affected by Jamb's irregularities wont find this funny at all, cos they depend on the pume for admission.

4 Catchment area will now play a keyrole in the admission process.

There are many considerations oo, this decision cannot be final.
Best thing to do now is to continue studying!

Providing soft loans to youths to start up their farms.
Integrating agricultural empowerment scheme to the NYSC to encourage non-agriculture graduates.
A form of internship should be available for all unemployed youths, where they can be posted to big farms across the country to work voluntarily, this can enable them learn the ropes and also increase their interest in agriculture.

catchment area refers to those states that are close to the city/state a particular university is located at, and the cut off mark for appliccants coming frm these states is usually lower. It's in line with the admission policy of 35% for catchment zone.
Catchment states for uniben are Delta, Bayelsa, Cross river, Akwa ibom, Edo, and Rivers.
Thats why sometimes u see ppl with just 50 getting admitted first, ahead of another candidate with 53 going for the same course. Although the cut off mark difference is usually very negligible, just 2-3mrks.
A serious minded student can never be displaced with catchment zone sha, Becos merit is always number 1.

Ondo state too.
Catchment cut off is usually -2 from the merit cut off.

yea, but suprisingly the majority of candidates applying to uniben in the catchment zone are frm Edo. Candidates frm other catchment zones like delta, bayelsa will prefer to apply to their own university in their state, so less competition in catchment area.. They should kukuma make lagos catchment zone.
Re: 2016/2017 Uniben Admission Thread Guide. by IamLukas(m): 11:14pm On Jun 03, 2016
Lol! There's no way Lagos can be catchment oh.
Delta peeps are much in UniBen oh and I blame it on Edo dudes because they aren't so keen on education as their Delta counterparts.

so students, are gonna read for jamb like kilode...because they know that is what decides their fate....
it also blocks off any attempt to admit anyone who is less on merit!)

I saw this update on Uniben Facebook group.
"My people, indeed if u are not informed you will be deformed, today I had to meet with a university professor and he is also among the committee that sets the admission procedures for his university , after our decision he explained to me what the New policy means and I think I should let u guys know too ... First scrapping of # postume by FG means that they will be no buying of postume scratch cards or candidates setting for any other university exams apart from that of jamb. University can actually screen their student and aspirant but not through exam rather they will screen them by their performance in jamb which means those with higher score and who also reached the school and departmental cutoffs will be admitted , according to him the FG wants to cob the corruption going on in the university all in the name of conduct of #postume ,and to Achieve this no university in Nigeria will or can ever conduct postume again. When the university are done with their own admission jamb can now redistribute those that weren't admitted to other schools and faculties. Example if u applied for # Medicine in Unn and ur score was 250 and u were not admitted ; its either they transfer you to #medlab or Nursing depending on ur score ... Finally my own professor and academia equally told me the Same thing this afternoon and he said Collins are u aware they will be nothing like postume again ...... But the truth is that this policy will favour those with enough money to sort their way out my dear #jambites take heart everything will be fine"

hmmm this policy is somehow good and somehow bad , the fg should implement diz as of next year den it will b reasonable cause by then student will know wat dey r up against #no high score in jamb no admission# and the fg by then should look into jamb shortcomings as regard d exam and I think to some extent ensure DAT wat happened during d exam diz year does not repeat itself cause a lot of smart guyz were marked down by jamb due to one server problem or CBT issues and the rest .......BT looking on the bright side I would say diz year jamb there was mass failure so to say , and as a result departmental cutoff marks won't b so high and diz will likely favour those with high jamb scores diz year .....BT with post utme I think those who were wronged by jamb can redeem themselves and those with high jamb scores can justify themselves .......well wetin I know .....I look unto God and I pray it favour us .....#fingers crossed and good morning .
