I am sure the logistics of supply via existing pipelines would have been taken into consideration before citing it in Lagos

Pprovost:
We all know some regions have made their land to be unsafe to investors (we are still appealing to them though)

But Mr Dangote,

Why do you still have to put this massive project in already congested Lagos and not neighboring States like Ogun, Oyo or even Ondo
Re: Dangote Building Oil Refinery In Lagos (Video) by iukpe: 3:49am On Jun 05, 2016
Because he did not steal his money, else he would have gone to build in South Africa and Brazil like rumours we hear of our past leaders.

Who gave you the report of people working at Dangote cements and Sugar being poorly treated? Did Dangote put an advert in the paper asking for TRUCK drivers with Bsc or Msc qualifications? Why cant people just be objective for once. And also just becasue the CEO of his Dangote Group is an Indian means he is going to pack the company full of Indians? This is at least one Billionaire who has not hidden all his money overseas and many Nigerians are gainfully employed from his various investments.

willibounce1:

My brother don't deceive yourself. Go to dangote cement and sugar and see the people working there. Have we not read severally here about how Nigerians working at dangote are poorly treated and paid peanuts? Abi you never join Nairaland when dangote employed graduates, even masters holders as truck drivers?

Don't worry, God will keep us alive to see the refinery and we still read on NL about his employees. Na indians e go pack full there. Maybe there is something Nigerians aren't doing right. With all the professors and science graduates we have, it just seems as if we don't know jack when the jobs are always given out to expatriates.

You Yorubas are very funny, so you think the refinary Dangote is building its going to run with Lagos oil... Smh, Refinary dangote has already started building a very long time before oil was discovered in Lagos.
.
.
If they should discover oil in all the local gov't in Lagos state and Ondo state combined, it will not even near a finger tip of the least producing oil state in the s/s(south south). Its like 5/5,000 in comparision.

Ur such an illiterate. Singapore has several refineries (some of d biggest in d world) and dont have a drop of crude oil on their lands. The country has no resources. All they have is a large port they've taken VERY GOOD advantage of.

The multinational companies, who own refineries in d country, source for crude, refine in Singapore and sell to d rest of southeast Asia.

So 150yrs to you is a short term? How old is Nigeria by the way?

This investment is going to be a waste
Things r changing. Energy is going solar and gas , even nuclear.

He should have followed the trend

The other day I saw a cooking gas powered generator and it was wow.
Soon keke will be powered by cooking gas

Unless he is building a petrochemical company

Don't call me a prophet of doom. Just saying fact

And where does LPG (cooking gas) come from? The air? Is it not also a byproduct of crude oil refining? Lmao. So many illiterates.

The only good source of energy is clean renewable energy and its not viable yet to meet d worlds massive daily demand for energy.

Nuclear energy is not sthn an insecure, hungry & irresponsible country like Nigeria should mess around with, neither will they EVER be allowed to. Its dangerous. Country DT can't provide a simple resource like pipe borne water & has no emergency service will handle nuclear plant. O ponu di e sha! cry

No d investment is not a waste. Clearly what u posted is gibberish, mixed wt hot air from ur nether ends and has nought to do wt "saying fact".

I am trying hard to understand why this refinary is sighted in Lagos. Lagos is already congested and devoid of government plans on decongesting it in the near future. Even underground train is not considered yet.

Won't it make more sense to sight it where the major raw material is and leaving already congested Lagos?

The area is simply an Investment opportunity for Nigerians to invest and own lands near a Refinery at the free trade zone Ibeju Lekki. This place is going to be like Apapa in the next 3 to 5 years and its best for those who have small pocket change to buy lands there so your children would not insult you in future why you don't own lands in that area when their classmate parents bought it years back at a very cheap rate. Last year it was going for N500K per Plot, now its going for N1 to 1.5 Million.

The only snag i have about this place is that now that the omoniles know development is coming there at a rapid pace so they are getting more fraudulent and reselling government or other people's lands to unsuspecting buyers. So you have to shine your eyes. All in all Well done to Dangote for opening up that place and please don't be like my parents who scoffed at the idea of buying Lekki Lands 20years ago because it was Bush only to regret it today. Be a land owner and invest there for your children. Me i don buy my own. Na you remain wink

stop the crap , you just exhibi something bad , we Nigerians know militancy started long time ago and what do you think would have made Dangote think of Ondo state in the first place ? It's very simple Niger delta is the best place for the project but the region is not peaceful ... As a business man he looks else where ... Ondo state never allowed him so , Lagos is the only accomodating state in Nigeria ... God bless Nigeria and harshes to the enemies of Nigeria ...

Next time, be patient to read. I was only pointing out the fact that project didn't just start as many were displaying going by the comments, some were already saying Sai Baba and all sorts. It has started since 2013 and was just surprised many Lagosians were not even aware, I've seen many in the past asking where was Dangote building his refinery.
It only pained me the project wasn't eventually sited at Ondo state, it would have decongested Lagos and developed Ondo. I'm not defending Pipe vandalism or anything, just stating the fact the project has been in existent for years now.

Is it not rather hypocrisy that the Yorubas are condemning Niger Delta Avengers but are keeping quiet over their notorious Omonile?

If the Niger Delta oil was to be in South West, I bet the Omoniles would be worse than the Avengers.

I'm not hating - I just want to make #commonsense.
PS: If Niger Delta breaks away from Nigeria, Dangote Refinery may be refining Lekki waters in place of crude oil grin

where he gets his feedstock doesn't matter, it solving a national problem that matters.

Also he will still likely source his feedstock from nearby locations first, and I don't think he is make the risky move of building a pipeline from ND, except he wants to also join the fray with militant

Hello. I remember you from last year, on a very informative thread about land. Do you know if there are any plots left in this area? I have someone interested in buying but she has zero idea where to start, even a seller. And she grew up knowing about the frauds committed in land buying so she is wary. Thanks.
