He isn't downgrading any1 my dear, as graduates, we should not be quick to accept Any and every news that comes our way, we should think bout how possible it is b4 spreading it to others. And for buhari waking up one morning to cancel nysc, that is the biggest lie any1 can believe. Aside from the fact that the program is backed up by laws, this is a democratic governent and not autocratic so the president cannot just create a law because he feels like it. It has tl. Go 2ru various channels nd laws befor it can be approved and probably added to the constitution

I KNOW THE INFO IS FALSE..
But hey, we are in a dispensation where the rule of law and due process is in the hands of one man. If Buhari says NYSC should be scrapped with immediate effect, it will be scrapped: all those Act and Modus Operandi you are talking about will be put aside and nothing go happen. So don't downgrade people who know the reality on ground.

The NYSC is a Directorate established by an Act or Law.The modus operandi of the NYSC is governed by an Act.Unless the law establishing it is repealed or Amended by the Legislators,NYSC stands as a Directorate.
If I may quickly add Provisions have beeen made fr the NYSC in this years budget.
Let's all discard this rumour flying around.The news is not only wicked but also tasteless.
Let's continue to pray to God to intervene in this matter and I know in the fullness of time we shall be mobilised.

Course To Start Soon

A Statement from the NYSC Management in
Abuja on Saturday: Management wishes to
inform prospective NYSC Corps members
that, based on the assurance received from
the Federal Government regarding release of
funds, the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II)
Orientation course will start soon.
Date of commencement will soon be
announced and Prospective Corps members
are, therefore, requested to watch out for
specific date of the exercise, which will be
made public as soon as all necessary
logistics for effective conduct of the
orientation course are in place.
NYSC Management empathizes with the
affected prospective Corps members, and
appeals for continued patience even as all
efforts on the matter are fast expedited.
Also, contrary to report on certain online and
social media platform on the scraping of
NYSC by the Federal Government, there is
no official source for such information.
Usually, since NYSC was establish through a
decree of the Government in 1973, it would
have to be terminated through a
constitutional amendment from the National
Assembly. Members of the public are
advised to not believe any information
concerning scraping or termination of
National Youth Service Corps(NYSC)
scheme.
The NYSC scheme was created in a bid to
reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the
country after the Nigerian Civil war. The
unfortunate antecedents in our national
history gave impetus to the establishment of
the National Youth Service Corps by decree
No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that
the NYSC is being established “with a view
to the proper encouragement and
development of common ties among the
youths of Nigeria and the promotion of
national unity”. It was the need to look
beyond the immediate present and to think
of the future leadership of the country that
necessitated the mobilization of certain
categories of youths through the National
Youth Service Corps Scheme. This was done
with a view of giving them the proper
guidance and orientation relevant to the
needs of the country. The National Youth
Service Corps Decree No. 24 which has now
been repealed and replaced by Decree 51 of
16th June 1993, was then formally
promulgated.
A termination bill is not currently being
reviewed at the National Assembly.
