I have never involved myself with anything that has to do with Brabus. But what you pointed out is very clear and his denying what is glaring is quite appalling. Sometimes, a man should apologize and if need be, clarify any thing that was misconstrued. I see no reason why he couldn't apologise then admit that it was later modified.

Apologize for making it clear from onset that I'm posting an old plan which has been modified. Or do you think I modified my comment after segcymoor quoted me? Why do you guys make an issue out of nothing?

And what will the apology do? Put an ante room in a house that doesn't have one. Or give a better sleep?

A detailed soil test would have given you a better idea of the engineering properties of the soil, and such test may cost less than 2% of actual construction cost.

This approach is not advanced form of raft, it is still a simple grade foundation (which people like to call raft here on nairaland). The truth is any foundation built on the grade in a Sandy terrain like lekky will always settled no matter what

Nice write up from both of you on the subject. Very constructive criticisms and maturity in accepting criticisms. Not everyone takes kindly to open corrections and are even willing to openly correct people.

Whether it is advanced raft foundation,a simple grade foundation, just a mere pile cap or cellular raft is not for me to say as I have no expertise in that area. However, I must state that I agree with Oga Segun on his choice of words " drastically reduce settlement". He did not say the method eliminates settlement. This system has been used by someone close to me and his 2 storey building did not settle more than 2 inches. Yes, it was marked and monitored. You will agree with me that for a building of 6 flats not to settle more than 2 inches after roofing is quite remarkable. However, note that the some other things were done prior to constructing the foundation. I must confess it is a money intensive technique but it gets the job done and gives the owner sound sleep at night.

Btw abdulwastecx, are u done with the project you were doing in the east? Are u back in lagos now? Abi u decided to return to PHC?

I'm just going to kidnap one of the artisans that do outdoor concrete on here. Everyone I've asked thinks they can only do outside so I will show them how to do it. It's the same thing but curing times will be different.

Some of them do fantastic outdoor work.

You won't find much stepping out of the box ideas on here but I'm used to it. My courtyard as an example, I have only found one other person doing a very small one.

But don't be dissuaded, you can get a lot of things done.

My comment on the plan reads "Plan has been modified" and not "Plan is as-built"
So if you ignore the comment and follow the plan posted then you're the one who's wrong and not me. Do you agree?

My response above still suffice. This little thing we are talking about is very very important. Even segcymoor will agree with me that you need to pay attention to every comments on a drawing otherwise one may make a serious mistake on site.
You can go back and read my post again and my specific comment on the drawing.

The best thing to do is to ask, what modifications have you made on this drawing in case one wants to build the same house or something. Then I can come up with list of mods done.

My chateau is in Sagamu. Will you be able to send someone to go and get you as-built plan so that you can know what mods have been done?

They can do it as early as possible tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, here are the mods.

- No bar
- No straight flight staircase
- No waiting room
- No guest bedroom opening to the dining
- No partitioning of the kids playroom and guest bedroom
- Double double introduced in the lobby/hallway
- TV position changed
- Double glass block flank the entry door as against one in the old drawing.

Now, if you find anything different from that by tomorrow morning 12:00 noon latest, then you can come and say something about Brabus.

I'm still struggling to understand why this is so difficult.

If you don't find anything you want in Naija, import it. Furniture is now legal for importation.
But I am sure most of this furniture can be find in Naija. I like the one in the third pictures for $1599.

If it has to be imported then I think the closeness of Europe (Italy, Spain, etc) can be leveraged as opposed to long far out USA.

But I'm comfortable with what I've seen at home but haven't compared prices yet.

I'm confident in the skills of the carpenters in Nigeria. During my last vacation I was in Ikorodu and I saw many very nice, contemporary furniture on display. My uncle said the carpenters are competent, but you need to make sure you pick a strong type of wood. I can't remember the name of the wood he told me. I plan to build all my furniture in Nigeria.

On a different topic, would you happen to know where one can get a very cheap, good conditiin insulated shipping container in Nigeria? 10 or 20 ft.
