i have come across people who withdraw money from the ATM and stood there to count the money to be sure if its complete, hmmmm i dont understand this, has ATM ever short-paid anybody b4 because for me when i use the atm, i just collect the money and leave i dont count cos i believe the money is complete and i just leave, but i just thought of this and decided to bring it up here.

So i would like to hear from nairalanders, if anyone has experienced it before, maybe you withdrew 10k and it wasnt complete?

Well I only know of overpaid. Back then in LUTH, a friend of mine went to the machine and wanted to withdraw 10k (this machine is opposite FOODIE, a very popular restaurant in LUTH) after slotting in the card to withdraw the money, he discovered the machine paid him an extra 1k.

He slot in his card again and tried to withdraw another amount and the same thing happened. My guy who can think so fast just quickly ran to the cyber cafe and printed a flyer (COMPSSSA) saying DO NOT USE this machine cos it is out of order. He later went to go and pay more money into his account and also went to go and collect people's cards from them, using theirs also.

Infact, he made close to like 200k back then. He only told me after the deal had been done. I felt like slapping him. This was like 2008 when guys were so bad gan.

Modified: From individuals experience on this thread it's possible but very rare....
Check your money after withdrawing but excuse yourself from the ATM for others to use while doing that.
Complain to the bank incase u are shortchanged and if they refuse to rectify it and it's a small amount not up to what it would cost to get to the bank leave it.... ur cost has outweighed the benefit.

Never. Machines don't cheat na. gabbage in gabbage out. wat u type is wat u get. D only exception is wen ur village pple is at work.

I also find it weird counting money just withdrawn from the ATM at the ATM but my thinking of that has changed over the years. If its small amounts below 20K. . .omo i must count am right there to make sure its darn complete.

Yes ooooo & I lost #12,000.

I wanted to withdraw #35000 so I intended to do d process twice, that is, first withdraw #20000, then #15,000.

Wen d ATM dispensed wat was suppose to be #20,000, I didn't bother counting it, I just went ahead to withdraw d remaining #15,000. Now this was wat happened; in d supposed #20,000, some #500 notes were dispensed (mixed with #1000) & all d notes were 20 (that is, an assumption dat all of 'em were #1000 notes). The same thing happened fr d #15,000...so altogether I had 35 notes which was suppose to comprise of #1000 (so as to equate to 35,000) but alas! the 35 notes amounted to #23,000.

I can only count it if it the ATM is owed by Ecobank!

I just don't trust those guys!!!
