Superjaytop:I can assure u that there are still many ppl who wish to have what is already in ur hand but cannot find it. In dis lyf, tins may not always work out as we want it. So, it is left for u not to allow urslf to be deceived and end up loosing d two. It is a gud thing that u have such a passion to study mbbs because that is what will eventually keep u going when u soon find urself in dis aspect of life called medicine. My advice is simple: Let go every worries n distractions and face dis physiology with all seriousness, seeing it as a route to arrive at ur dream course. Write jamb alongside if u want and most importantly, trust God in all ur steps. Be consistent in all of these. Then we will sure hear testimonies from u bro |

What exactly is the government doing to better health care in Nigeria? Rather they take expensive trips to see specialists abroad when we have ours. The money would have served better in upgrading the National Hospital in Abuja so Govt Officials can go for their check ups. Sighs for Nigeria. 3 Likes |

Drdonzeez: That's not the dumbest question. that's a question pleading for clarity and your idea of it would have mattered. Not laughing at people's ignorance when they desire to know and in the least not providing the answer to it. Is this how people are going to learn and come to the light they seek? and after all, Same us will come and throw blames onto Nigeria's head whereas when we were disposed to do something in our measures we only laughed. Please, we must unlearn to laugh at people's ignorance or even if do so, not in a derisive tone and still help them, give better counsels. it's helpful and great to do so. thank you Sirs! 12 Likes |

OneTruePrince:The question obviously doesn't have an answer. It's not all questions asked by people that one can confidently say YES or NO. At times you just have to make people sit down and do their homework, this is information age for crying out loud. Nobody is laughing at any body's ignorance here; how are you even sure that he doesn't know the answer already and decided to be fooling around. I really envisage a society where young people will be informed and enlightened, and the best way to go about it is to educate yourself by yourself. Normally, I would have ignored the post, but just recently I was in a group where educated people were arguing seriously on the MBBS/BDS dichotomy. A fellow even went as far as saying outrightly that BDS graduates don't know any thing apart from the teeth. lol. Could you imagine such level of ignorance? And when I finally decided to clear the air, I discovered that his dogma can awaken a dead elephant. So, maybe the guy that asked that question is that type of person, maybe only trying to start up a stupid argument here . so how do you make him change? It's by making him learn the hard way. It has been said several times on this page, that one should only go for what he has passion for. Then why bringing such thing up again? Sincerely, without any apology. That's the dumbest question i have seen. I stand to be corrected. 1 Like |

Message To UNIPORT Aspirants - 2016 An advert in one of the national dailies dated Monday June 6th, 2016 has it that the 2016/2017 Post-UTME registration of the University of Port-Harcourt will commence 15th of June, 2016. However, this information is yet to reflect on the school's website. Even the portal for 2016/2017 Post-UTME registration is yet to come alive. In view of these and the fact that the Post-UTME has been scrapped as announced by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, we advise all UNIPORT aspirants not to act hastily until there is an official announcement on the school's official website in that regard. charleymed: Alright. No big deal Bro. we're the good guys right? I do not think anyone would come here as it is to display prima Donna. That's what I think. But you know that's assumption because it lacks straight cut evidence to make it an imminent fact because anyone could actually come do otherwise. Same way, it's hypothetical to say or maintain that same occurrence would have happened sir because there are no evidence for its factuality and knowing that, it should not have been held to conclusively to react to it the way you did. But it pays to be positive. Information age: is that everyone should sort for knowledge themselves and not wait for anyone to come teach all and sundry. That's OK. But it's impossible to actually learn without people's aid directly or indirectly or the height of ignorance in the world would be humongous. We need each other to succeed please. We need to desist from "self-made attitudes and get on with along with everyone. "Let those who stand help they who are willing to stand up" ..... and we'll all be good. Okay? Please, no offense!! We're the good guys right? Yes we are!! God bless you Sire. I'm loyal Sire! 1 Like |

Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by goodman3(m): 2:41pm On Jun 08, 2016 |
Goodafternoon everybody!!.....you all are doing a great job here. I have been an ardent follower of this thread for a while now. I can see a lot of aspirants in here and I'm glad to see that a lot of youths would like to partake in this noble profession called MEDICINE. BTW, I'm a 400 level student of medicine and surgery and I have a piece of advice for you aspirants. I would suggest u read this with a neutral mindset because this is the truth that many people won't tell you about medical school. I begin....... 1) getting into medical school in Nigeria is like getting a camel through a needle. It is very difficult and your chances of getting admitted for medicine and surgery is very low except u have connections or you are exceptionally intelligent with high scores in jamb and post ume or God just loves u dearly. U will have to read like u want to die. So many jambites write jamb for years because they are waiting for medicine admission.....u must do everything u can to stand out if you really wanna study medicine. 2). Getting admission into medicine is the easiest part of your journey. Your pre-med is your first challenge. You have to pass all your science courses before making it into the college of medicine. A lot of students get stuck here because of unseriousness. Being studious and being smart will pull you through. U mist work hard here if not, OYO. I remember staying awake most nyts after drinking nescafe with cold water and without milk just to stay awake. There was serious competition to crossover.....it was bloody. 3). The college of medicine is HELL.....trust me!!! Your first month there will be so easy but don't be deceived. You have to read for hours every night to cover your syllabus. Its really voluminous.....in your preclinical, you will spend 18 months studying 3 courses that others study for 4 years each =12years. So do the math! If you don't read enough, u will fail and your woes will start right there. 3). 3rd year is tedious. The 2nd MBBS is already knocking at the door. This is the most important exam u will write in your life because it determines if u will be a doctor or not. U have only 3 chances of writing this exam after which u are rusticated from the college of medicine. In my school, there are students here that have stayed in preclinical for 8 years. The 2nd MBBS is bloody....u have to read like maaaaad!!!! For example I slept for about 4 hours everyday. The other hours were for reading! In essence, if u are not ready to study hard, don't even apply for medicine or else u will end up wasting 5 years of your life trying to pass 2nd MBBS. But if u are willing to work hard and sacrifice your time for study, then medical school is for you. There are also other hurdles to pass in clinicals oo....but this is all I know. During ours, only 1/3 of the class passed but everybody worked hard, u just need to stand out or get knocked out.....its a jungle in here. U can spend months inside school without having time to leave school premises.....it can get that bad. Everybody in med school needs a relaxation factor to supress the whole stress.....just find yours. For some people its weed, church fellowship, food, sleep.......mine was girlssssss I had a lot of them to ease my tension when I needed them. Finally, its God who guides u thru med school.....he's the supreme!!! Getting into medical schools is the easy part.....the hard part is staying in medical school. So before u fill medicine in your jamb form again, ask yourself if u can take the heat....... Bless........ 16 Likes 6 Shares |

There is a question I wish to ask, I hope I get clarification. Why is there always beef with JOHESSU and Doctors?, it all looks like the fight is against doctors? Please help clarify as I don't understand, why can't they just get along since they all have a common goal, To save lives and help patients get better. Shouldn't it be a Joint effort with the nurses, lab scientists, orderlies,etc.... rather than everyone trying to do someone else's Job. That seems to be what is wrong with health care in Nigeria. Sigh... |
