They are the ancestors of the Southerners and Notherners respectively. The Dornish though are descendants of the Rhoynar.

Not really true. Missandei introduces Dany as Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men. The showrunners did not introduce the Rhoyner at first to avoid confusion as we were not introduced to the Dornish until later seasons.

Not totally true. I remember Jon Snow saying something like ''the blood of the First Men still runs in my veins'' to Ygritte...Lord Karstark also told Robb-''The blood of the first men still flows in my veins as much as yours boy''.From these we can make our deductions.
