SIRcumalot:What is skewed about a statistical criteria that is as clear as daylight? The mind boggles. The opinion that put him in #3 is not skewed but the stats are? Again this would not have been an argument if Ooh Mpa did not claim your boy was clutch. More stats for you to reflect on. OohMpa:Stop giving us expired ZOBO http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/106689/making-the-historical-comparison-between-lebron-james-other-all-time-greats He is shooting less than 30% in the clutch when the NBA Finals are on. Lower than Wade, Kobe and definitely M.J In last year's Finals alone LeTravel missed 14 shots out of 17 attempted in clutch time Add that to the bone-jarring 5-47 in the regular season and come back and tell me more about how clutch he is |
Re: The NBA Begins by SIRcumalot: 3:46pm On Jun 08, 2016 |
It is skewed at least in it interpretation, great shooter will shoot better in pressure situation than average shooters. Almost everybody on that list is a better shooter than LeBron so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he doesn't make them. Like it won't be a surprise if Steph perform better in the clutch it only because he is the better shooter. @A40. |

SmooshCHN:Me I am tired of the excuses. It never ends! When they win he takes all the glory when they lose the teammates take all the blame. Its so annoying. They have started already this year. Cavs are the underdog despite having everyone healthy. An excuse that was freely used last year The guy is not clutch and regularly fails to deliver with the game on the line Let them keep applying sentiment. The results will always be there for all to see 2 Likes |

Lebron will have his buddies come help him out next season. CP3 & Wade coming to town and he can as well ask for Durant while at it. When this happens, he will win not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, but 7 and be the goat! That's the Lebron's way. |

SIRcumalot:You are still not getting the gist of the argument. I said LeBron performs poorly in the clutch you said it doesn't matter, now you have seen the extent of how bad the performance truly is you are now telling me he is not a great shooter When will you stop generating excuses for this ninja |

A40:already made my point before the 5/47 bit. point is that clutchness doesn't really matter at the end of the day you want best shooter to shoot not your best player. |
Re: The NBA Begins by datGuyJoo: 4:47pm On Jun 08, 2016 |
IMO Lebron curated the big mess he is in. Please read on..my thoughts: He is a great player, great role model for younger people who look up to him as he has weathered a lot and has come out without a scratch. His only fault that really anyone can point to as a human being was deciding to leave Cleveland to go chase ...not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4 and he pretty much came damn close. He got 2 rings out of 4 straight finals trips with Miami. That's great if you ask me. If he had to do a performance appraisal like we all have to do at work, he would be given a raise and promotion no questions asked. He broke a lot of peoples hearts in Cleveland when he left the first time and please lookup what Dan Gilbert wrote about him. And Dude(Lebron) still went back to Cleveland. I'm sorry but I would never want to work for/with someone like Dan Gilbert after that. If this was simply 50 years ago Lebron would have been lynched because he dared to think for himself, he did not hurt anyone, he hurt feelings, but these are the same team owners who wouldn't think twice to trade him if they had no use for him!! (no crime in wanting to leave a team, it's business also) Now after winning in Miami and going back to Cleveland, Lebron and his merry men were thinking strategically, He would be the hero to bring a championship, and with that came power, intentionally or not, he now had a say in how things were going to be run in the organization and he kind of earned that right with winning in Miami and seeing how things were run there, Miami as an organization is a well oiled machine, just like San Antonio. Lebron wanted to recreat that in Cleveland. Dan Gilbert wasn't going to piss a 2nd chance away. Lebron knew he had Cleveland (The Team and the city) by the balls. So Lebron has been pulling the strings and getting things he wants because no one wants to stand up to him or piss him off. You honestly think Pat Riley would care if Lebron didn't like the coach, Riley would say get in line or bounce. Lebron's down fall from what I saw on TV and PVR was his ego. He disrespected his coach (Platt) in front of the world to see. I'm sure he didn't realize it, but body language and how you deal with people is key. Communication is 80% non verbal. For all of Lebron's greatness he still needs to be coached and led by a firm hand. He is an alpha male because of his size and what he can do and people react and respect that, but he doesn't translate that properly on the managing side. Anyone can play ball and with time you develop a sense of how plays are run and you see things 2, 3 , 4 moves ahead- Lebron is great at that. Lebron has no business trying to do what Team management should be doing and that is making moves 5,6,7 and 8 ahead. You have great people around you, let them do their job and everything will fall into place. After your career is done, then worry about being management or owner. When you tattoo King and Chosen one all over your body and majority of the fan base and young kids want to emulate 'Chef Curry with shot' one might want to rethink those tattoos?! just saying. Like Kobe said, the splash bros are silent assassins. Their game does the talking and they leave management to do their work. Look at Curry, he could have checked out when Mark Jackson who built this team was fired, but he didn't, but do not think for once Curry and the whole crew(GSW team) don't remember who got this team built. The great players MJ, Larry Bird, Kobe, Shaq, Magic, Wade all let management do their job. Yes, management consults with them from time to time on who they should go after but overall, they let the organizational management do their jobs, and they never disrespected their coach's. Lebron sending subliminal tweets and and bad body language is communicating to everyone-and Cleveland management that he wants something or not. It would be sad if Lebron lost again in the finals because as a ball fan, I appreciate what he has done and 6 straight finals is no joke but he shaped this team to be what it is today because that is what he wanted and now, he has to deliver with the team. Only reason I want GSW to win is that they have 2 Nigerians on the team so my alliance is with GS (Go Naija). Enough of my opinion lol, I have work to get to hahaa. 2 Likes |

SIRcumalot: i disagree. This is another excuse for Lebron. In those situation, the best player takes over not the best shooter. You're confused because most of the best players in a team are good shooters with the exception of Lebron.... Haha. If Lebron isn't a good shooter, it's on him. datGuyJoo:"Let's the management do their job" that's what people don't understand. Including James himself.. Thanks for making it so so clear for everyone who doesn't understand to see reasons why there's difference between a Ruler and a Leader. There's a problem with Cavs management. James has the whole City's and Management balls as you said. Imagine Tristan Thompson $82M because he shares James' manager. That's ridiculous.. I hope the Team and Management learns from it.. Manutd19:Please give this man 3 bottles of Origin.. I just watched game 1&2 again just now and it's safe to say LeBron isn't a Shooter and has no junpshot or midrange at all.. He is 36% from midrange and 63% in the paint. He relies too much on that.. All the Greats have Post Up game, midrange and satisfactory shooting percentage.. His fans will never agree with what you and I have to say.. They all think we hating |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 5:45pm On Jun 08, 2016 |
Call LBJ all the names you can come up with, BUT PLEASE IN THE NAME OF BASKETBALL SINCERITY AND SANITY, PLEASE AND PLEASE EXCLUDE "CLUTCH" FROM HIS VOCABULARY. When we discus clutch players, we are speaking of snipers that would drill your soul with 2 seconds to go and win games, we are speaking of players who stand when it's a win or lose situation, a player may score 40 points but may not be clutch... We are talking of players (I am restricting my list to current NBA players) like Kevin Durant, James Harden, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen (In his prime, i am not sure he has retired), Damian Lillard, Melo (in his prime), Kyrie Irving. these guys will snuff the life out of your imaginary victory and make you curse the shot clock. You want these guys to handle the ball in the final seconds, not necesarily because they are the best players in their teams (even though some are), but because they have the heart to stay focused. Queen James is renowned to chock when it mattered most, Infact, during the final series against the Mavs, it was obvious he was refusing the ball during the final seconds and the media and fans did not spare him. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 5:46pm On Jun 08, 2016 |
SmooshCHN:Exactly the same problem i had with lebron during the offseason last year. Helping tristan thompson get that contract set a bad example on him, and i hope he has seen it. You can not be having your managers at the ropes because you are cool with a player. Imagine Bismack Biyombo outplaying you in a playoff series? Tristan can not shoot, not even a good defender, and he has a 82 million dollar contract. Sometimes though, i do blame the management, but then i think about it, and i can not blame them. The team was terrible for years, and they wanted to do what they had to do to become a contender again, and if lebron was going to come back to cleveland, he has to have a team that he believes can give him a championship. Honestly, This squad is deep, but i do not think the chemistry is there, and also the coach is not ready, at least not yet. If lebron wanted to win as he says he wanted to, i do not think the right thing to do is to get a rookie coach. Everything going on in cleveland is on him...He basically handpicked the roster, and he also handpicked the coach. There is no excuse if he does not win this series, his legacy depends on it honestly(If he will be top 10, top 15, or top 20) This series depends on it, and i hope to God the guy does not get swept. 1 Like |

SmooshCHN:He posted up in miami honestly, I watched the boston series. The game 6 where he was posting up and shooting midrange. Honestly, he either needs to get back in the gym with Hakeem Olajuwon or maybe he just does not have a shooting touch at all. Iguodala has you on knock down in a series two years in a row after(Keyword: After you became a winner, lebron already figured out how to win a championship in miami). If you are already a winner, you should not let a player lock you down on defense two years in a row. I have heard about great defenders slowing down players not playing lock down defense on you. I can not imagine dirk, kobe, jordan, and the likes playing a team twice in a row in the playoffs and one single player has them on lockdown defense. Kid needs to get back in the gym this summer and improve his shooting, you are not beating any team in the west in the playoffs if your best player can not shoot. PERIOD |

datGuyJoo: great insight but i have to disagree on some 1. Nothing great in winning 2 of 4 playing in a weak conference with 3 other future hall of famers. He was beaten by Dallas for crying out loud and was disgraced by Spurs after Ray Allen saved their ass in the previous. 2. In his defence, There's nothing wrong in him interfering with management's job like recruit, choice of coach e.t.c. Superstars does this often including Jordan and Kobe. Kobe chased Shaq away for crying out loud. Difference btw them & Lebron is the both iq, leadership & management skills. Lebron has little knowledge on how to win/what to do to win. 1 Like |

Re: The NBA Begins by datGuyJoo: 7:47pm On Jun 08, 2016 |
Manutd19: Thanks man, great great points, I love it. Point #1: If you are the best student in your class in a little town in Epe and you are so brilliant schools in England and America take note, Do you stay in Epe and say I will grind it out here or do you take your talents to south beach and leave to go to a great college/university Abroad so you learn and have a leg up when you graduate and you make great friends along the way and become somebody in your chosen field to come back home to Epe to try to do the things you learnt abroad. You may be frustrated when you get back home because it's not as straight forward as you imagined. My point is: you can't blame Lebron for wanting to be great and joining greatness to achieve that. We all do it everyday. It's a choice. Regarding weak conference: East vs West. man, I could go on for days on that. I agree the East is visually the weaker conference or historically the worse conference but they all play in the NBA, The best league in the world supposedly. If you make it to the NBA you are really good, or someone see's potential in you to be really good. What you do in the conference after you are dafted is up to you. Jordan played in the East and what did he do? Larry B did what in the East? Bad boy pistons did what also? Michael Olowokandi was drafted in the West and what did he do? I could go on but I honestly think it boils down to how each player works hard to get what they want and management be damned, if you are good, everybody will see you are good. Even if you lose. The lakers teams for years were stacked with HOFers and no one complained because they are the lakers! And did everything to win. Lebron's journey to Miami could have been a disaster but it worked. I'm a Chris Bosh fan. You think he was happy to play 3rd wheel? You give something to win/achieve something, everyone does. Everyone loses sometimes, but it's how you come back that matters (see how I sound like a gatorade commercial ) The Playoffs are a different beast man, Just look at OKC this year, up 3 -1 and they lost. If they had made to the Finals I think Lebron would have won the first 2 games against them, but like I said, the playoffs are a different beast and anything goes. Point #2: You are right, great players need to be consulted or get buy in, that's how great organizations work. I think Lebron saw how Miami was run and he thought he could replicate it but it's hard and full time work, something he needs to not worry about now. I feel he is more about the business than the sports. He has the athletic talent so honestly very little needs to be done there, just some tweaks here and there but having money doesn't equate you are business and management savvy. Being a great leader is knowing how to empower the people around you to do their best. Hire the best people to do the job and get out of the way. Lead as best as you can (Lebron on the court) and let everyone else who is the best in their fields supposedly do their jobs. If it fails because of lack of planning then heads must roll. If it fails because things just didn't swing your way then stick to it, get up, learn and move on. Repeat with the learnt lessons, get better and see how it works. 1 Like 1 Share |
