una well done ooh, just arrived from ban for giving out a possible answer to control tomato ebola. Maybe i need more information about why they ban people for no just reason. I hope this question wont warrant a ban again? |

I'm a new farmer with an indoor fish pond of 10x3x3ft, 5x3x3, 3x3x3, 5x3x3ft concrete and tiled to give extra protection on the connecting walls to the building. I have read thru some of the thread and I find them enlightening, I would appreciate advice on maximum num of fish I can stock and also guide on proper and profitable management

aoladayo:let me elaborate frm what i hv learned on this trend... For d 10x3x3 u can stock 150 fishes max, 5x3x3= 75 fishes max and 3x3x3= 45 fishes...... Also consider sorting evry 2weeks, change their water 3days max, also wash ur pond during sorting very important, feed good feeds twice daily etc. My novice advice tnks GOODLUCK... my guru in the huz please add 2 dis...... Oga it's not designer pond did u read my post it's indoor I don't have land space and it share walls with existing flats, so to avoid water absorption and weakening the wall this why it's tiled. Take am easy NA advise I ask for.... Thanks agodwinufi68 miqos02: |

@ ogas in d house, pls i hv some question to ask...... I fertilized my tarpaulin pond after removing d manure i discovered dat pond A, produce maggots while pond B, produce zooplanton, 1.Now my question is which of this pond is more preferable 2 stock immediately? 2. Is it good to stock with d manured water cos d maggots pond smell (odour)? Tnks as i await ur response...... vry urgent cos am planning 2 stock any moment. |

Catfish scarcity due to recent increase in fish feeds.... Time to stick to increase in price of fish my pple so dat our businesses can remain viable in this harsh economic setting. Don't wash with detergent wash with a lot of clean water and foam not sponge so I learnt from a guide I read and also from a senior fish farmer, as u don't want to introduce the chemicals in the detergent in Ur pond, the manure is to send nutrients to the wall and environs of Ur pond, drain out, wash with foam not sponge and clean water then pump in water and leave for 24hr flush out and u already to pump and stock... godwinufi68: |

Hi nairalanders my name is walshak ,my catfish are two months old,an I rare them in a plastic tank,a month ago my problems started when I experience d several deaths.it starts with white patches ,peeling skin,and then they hang at the top and die.have been bathing them with antibiotics,salt and ash but there has been very little improvement. Just today I four one more dead body.I need help pls  |

godwinufi68:What do U mean by "a neaby bush water"? Are you refering to a stream or a dam? If yes, I'll say YES!!! But there. Must be a CAUTION to be sure that the water isn't polluted. Firstly, ensure that you analys the water to. Be sure of its quality. You can also try to get ZEOLITE to filter/clean all the water that enters your pond from such source so as to guide against infection and pollution. Wishing you all the very best!!! |

wal1999:initially many things had gone wrong,due to your management. If all you do is just struggling to maintain them without any significant growth,i would advice u sell off as melange & start afresh.The container or pond type isn't the problem,it could happen in all pond type.Management is key to reduce or prevent disease outbreak/death. Watch your feeding,pollution,water change.Even water can be polluted in a day,if u overfeed & could create stress(as in the hanging),those fishes that peel can get new skin back if kept in clean water over time,but why labour when u can start |

godwinufi68:get the water source,is it ground water or waste water. Is it polluted or normal. Is it habitat for reptiles,so you know how or what to do to eradicate them. Is it just another stagnant water? Not all spots supports good growth. |
