We are in need of funds to support agriculture, entrepreneurship and local production. Unemployment is on the rise. The nation's economic driver is being sabotaged due to disagreement between the central government and the regions locals. Crude oil no longer holds the value it used to, leaving Nigeria broke. So broke, she presently does not have the funds to execute her annual budget. Commonsense would expect Nigeria to invest in assets(funding for smes, agrobased and solid minerals sector, rail, air and water transport, education and research, technology start-ups etc) rather than any form of liability(feeding school children with x amount). For how long will the silly feeding continue? How is it sustainable? And when asked to setup an economic advisory team, his team of "advisers" would say there is one! No matter how many other assets they may claim to have planned out, Nigeria is too broke for this! You cannot take 3 steps forward and 2 backwards each time and expect to make any significant progress. Not everything the United Nations or whichever global body suggests would work for our specific situation except of course they are funding it 100 percent for us without conditions. 2 Likes |

stanech:Someone would have to grow the food and someone would have to cook it which means the programme would create jobs and help keep pupils in school. To make it more effective, majority of the food items should be produced locally in the vicinity of the school. |

Funkybabee: The statement of Osun being a failed state is rather to the extreme and should not arise here. However, this program is not and cannot be sustainable from an objective point of view. Let's assume it costs two hundred naira to feed a child/meal/day, Assuming schools are in session for 3 Months/term (12 Weeks) i.e. 5days a week x 12 Weeks a term = 60 days/term i.e. 60days x 3 terms = 180days/annum 200 x 24,000,000 = 4,800,000,000 i.e. 4.8 Billion naira per day on this program Therefore, expected cost of implementing this program per annum is: 4,800,000,000 x 180days = 864,000,000,000 The question is 'do you objectively think that this can be sustained knowing full well the outcome of it in both Osun and Kaduna states, given the current economic realities? My opinion though. |

Hope as it's been launched in Banchuet Hall today now, it will as well get to all primary schools in Nigeria. Not expecting what happen on 27 May, 2016 to happen again. Were president said 17B was given to children to celebrate their days and doesn't get across. Source by schools in my area says they didn't receive any token from any body. We are watching for part II |

....I fail to see how sustainable this so-called feeding programme will be cos i know for a fact that Fg is cash-strapped at the moment.Apart from the unsustainability of this programme, apc politicians will simply hyjack the funds with little or nothing getting to the really hungry whom this rogramme is meant for anyway...perhaps the 5% and 95% dichotomy might play out here too ....All in all , i am really tired of apc and their backward thinking and policies. You guys killed the little that was left of the economy in less than one year, rendering millons jobless and hungry with your wicked actions and inactions. You then turn around to talk about feeding the children of those you starved deliberately, and i am suppose to jump around in joy??..oh no!!,i will leave the monkeying around for the zombies |

It is very obvious that some people (Wailers or whatever they call them), are never happy when something good is coming from this present government. They only find joy when we have headlines like; bomb blast, Niger Delta Avengers, Unemployment, Fuel scarcity, Buhari's medical condition, Fulani attack, IPOB protests, Bank short-staffing,....etc In your best interest, i will advise you to change your orientation and be happy when something good happens. Else your life will be programmed to attract bad news; since that is the only thing that makes you happy. 2 Likes |

maximunimpact:This is pure economic ruination, the said 500 billion naira social welfare fund is a borrowed money good economic policy dictates that you don't borrow to finance unbank able projects. Now the question is how do the government pay back the fund? This is irrational and will end up mortgaging our future it's quite obvious that this administration is rudderless. I think the best thing for this administration to do is as a matter of urgency initiate a road map for education they should try to upgrade the obsolete infrastructure in the educational sector that will usher in a conducive environment for proper learning |

I recall a recent news about something that happened in one of these IDP camps, one of the coordinators was caught diverting many bags of rice. God knows how long he has been doing it. Why feed students that don't even have chair, tables, textbooks to study? Why feed students that don't even have good school uniform to wear to school? Why feed students that don't even have healthy school environment? Why feed students that don't even have good roads to their schools? Why feed students that don't even have good water to drink? Why feed students that don't even have good library and Laboratories to learn? Why feed students when their teachers are hungry and they are not ready to teach quality education? There are a lot of thing that can better the life of these students, stuff like: Creating good roads Good Housing policy Constant Electricity Good water supplies Good security for the citizens Agricultural Aids to support the farmers Making good laws that will protect these children 1 Like |
